Funny how I was playing a game last night and joined this squad someone had named INF MIC DEFENCE and he took A, B was 2 Riflemen, 1 LAT, 1 medic and C was 1 LMG, 1 Marksman, 1 Rifleman, 1 HAT. At staging he goes "alright squad, we're gonna be backcaping the first two points and building 2 HABs, gonna be a slow start but when we get in the shit you'll know you have your backs covered; defence wins games and we're winning this one... roll out!". End of round we've won 231-0 and our squad has 26000 points, more than the next 4 combined. SL followed this video and pt. 1 almost religiously and it worked wonders, moreover, it was actually fun, turned the game into less walking and shoveling simulator and more actual game. Good stuff
I've been squad leading for almost 2k hrs coming from a RL combat vet o7 sir. Your blending gamisms with true to form mindset, discipline, and tactics. Very well indeed.
Im starting to really get into this genre of game, and these videos are helping me gain confidence about stepping up to be sl. It suprised me how often i run into a situation where nobody in my squad wants to lead. Maybe you could do something similar with armor tactics and such. Amazing videos man, keep it up
Funny how we set up our fireteams the exact same! After experimenting with different fireteam configs, trying stuff out like spreading the utility across both fireteams, and even trying three 3-man fire teams (A B C), just stacking all ur AT on bravo and making charlie a support fireteam has given me by far the best results when playing with randoms as well
I can not remember if it was mentioned in Ep. 1 but before you SL you should have a numb pad so you can use direct comms to other SLs. It makes the game so much more enjoyable for every other SL
I only have 70 hours on squad but some of my best moments have been squad lead once I lead my squad on an assault on a fob I had our apc support is from behind and the infantry move up it worked out really well my best moment so far
Great addition for the Squad community and as an individual who has read various manuals for fun and has applied the tactics and attempted to lead in such a professional manner. Fantastic! I firmly believe this is a great start for anyone who wants to experience this sort of gaming simulation. Squad is certainly a team orientated game and I have experienced many who play as if it's the traditional person shooter. This is a game of teamwork, coordination and patience. If you are really wanting to dive deep into the game. Start by opting for a support role. I.e. Logi runs, medic, reserve push, shovel operator and posting as security. As the game evolves and after many more games. you will certainly have an idea of the flow of it. Also, let your Squad Leader know you are new and you're willing to learn the fundamentals. (you'll get the good and bad leaders but stay positive). I hope that all that read this and watches this video, keeps to the game!!! because as crazy as it does get, there is no revive in the real world
Really nice video bro! Im a brazilian player and a new SL to... infortunaly we don't have so many videos teaching how to lead a squad or how aply tatics in the game in portuguese so you save my life haha A tip to new SL like me is: try keep your guys in defense. Is really easier than attack and aways have a backup HAB on defense, this way you reduce the chance of a enemy team snowballing you.

love the content Dance, been meaning to get back into squad leading and I think this vid convinced me to just do it. I do think most squad leading guides are idealized however, most squad leaders are usually good when things go as planned, would love to see how you approach games where everything just goes wrong.
For anyone trying squad leading remember this, you will fuck up big time the first times like in anything really, and I'm sorry for the guys in your squad. But, no one was gonna squad lead anyway so the guys should be happy that someone is at least taking lead. Fuckers like me don't wanna squad lead at all so you can't go any more wrong than that.
Excellent squad leading! I've got maybe 600hrs squad leading, but you definitely give me plenty to think about to be a better squad leader. If you have any thoughts/tips on the commander role that you think would be good video, I'd be all for that!
Nice vid - had no idea you could drag people in your squad into fireteams, thought you had to always right click which is so fidgety. Only thing I'll add to this is I usually put a rally down right when I put a radio down in case the squad comes in contact before getting a HAB down. I've seen so many instances where we get the radio down but the squad gets wiped before the HAB is built up. After the HAB is up I'll pick the rally back up and put it somewhere as a backup.
Usually when I SL it's because of getting "field promoted" when SL gets disconnected. Any tips on how to deal with the situation when only one-two people (or nobody) actually relay intel, you're back at main or at best some remote fob because the game wants you to get sl kit and command chat is filled with bullshit completely unrelated to your (very hot) part of the map? What doesn't seem to work: Splitting people into fireteams (with somewhat communicative people as fl) sending these fireteams them to some conservative defensive positions from which they can support each other Telling everyone to retreat in some general direction and keep overwatch relaying whatever's relevant in command chat
I SL in that situation all the time. The important thing is to establish yourself in squad comms. Treat it like the beginning of a new match because for your squad, it effectively is. Kick those that aren’t cooperating and get everyone to respawn in the same location ASAP. That requires you identify where to spawn, which sometimes means spawning main.
great video but I would like more in-depth analysis to squad leading.. different strategies, organization of infantry/fireteam leads, gamemode specific squad leading, faction specific squad leading, hab/fob placement, logistics management, armor... I mean there is just so much more to being a SL than grabbing a Logi and communicating - I think there is a wealth of information on how to do the very basics as SL but not NEARLY enough info on how to be an effective, creative, and competitive SL..
In my opinion, the Squad teamwork has gotten so low, that if just 1 squad follows simple orders from a normal SL can change the tie of a match. Havent found a good server with good teamwork in a while, only some specks of hope.
Nice video! How do you handle rally respawns. Do you wait until the whole squad is dead or do wait until a fire team is dead and then the fire team spawns together?
I wouldn’t put an hour limit on- but you need an understanding of the classes, the maps, and how the “big game” works not just the individual or teamwork firefight dynamics. For me this took about 200 hrs, and I needed some practice before I really started SLing competently after that.
Step 1. Establish dominance
Step 2. Panic
Step 3. Ignore panic and move
This man knows
@@HaebyungDance gah, i love this game
Honestly great advice, if you don’t show upfront that you got a good idea what you’re doing, your squad will not listen

SL brasileiro aqui também, acho que o mais dificil é manter o squad coeso e junto, o pessoal ouve um tiro e quer sempre correr em direção a ação...

Its essential to have 2 medics in your squad.

Yes you can lol

How do you handle rally respawns. Do you wait until the whole squad is dead or do wait until a fire team is dead and then the fire team spawns together?
The rough threshold is fireteam level buts it’s not cut and dry. Every situation needs to be read case-by-case with the appropriate decision made.
