yah i went to a few games by that spot and one game it was pretty open over there so i went over and sat in his seat. i could defff agree you have to actually sit there to truly understand how easy it was bartman to reach for the ball, and i can honestly say i dont know how anyone could tell there was a player right under the wall. (unless you where paying attention and saw MA coming over lol)
That's true. It was Moises Alou, Dusty Baker and Alex Gonzalez (I think that was his name was) faults! It was Alex Gonzalez fault for not turning the double play which should've been an easy double play and should've ended the inning instead he committed an error that made the bases loaded with only 1 out!
I also felt bad for him when it happened. I knew the Cubs fans would blame him if the Cubs lost the game and the series so I was actually hoping the Cubs would've won the series so people could've forgived him but unfortunatley they didn't. It wasn't even Steve Bartman's fault neither. Not even a little bit.
@Thebarberboss LOL.. yeah Im sure he is too (well I hope he is).. I read that he's turned down several lucrative endorsement deals and offers since then.. One of the offers was worth six figures to be in a Super Bowl commercial..
i think if the ball is on the fan`s side of the railing, then anyone can reach for it but if it is on the player`s side of the fence, it is considering fan interference if a fan reaches for the ball. I am not defending any side, i am just saying what i heard.
As a Marlin's fan I was watching it and was like "oh god this guy will be in deep shit if this keeps going." Sure enough it was replay after replay of this poor guy. I woulda gone for the ball also Fish fan or not.
If Alou wouldn't have raised such a hissy fit, maybe Prior wouldn't have gotten so rattled. Then again, if Dusty hadn't been asleep in the dugout, perhaps he would have noticed Prior was dying out there. Bartman was just a fan going for a foul ball. How was he supposed to guage the outcome? He had his eye on the ball, not where Alou was.
The biggest thing Cub fans don't remember is that Kyle Farnsworth could have done his job and NOT let the Marlins score any more runs. The worst it should have been was Marlins 4, Cubs 3 with the Cubs batting in the bottom half of the eighth
@mattrules924 it was game 6 of the 2003 nlcs the cubs had a 3 games to 1 lead over the marlins the cubs were 5 outs away from going to the world series in 95 years the batter luis castillo hits a foul ball down the left field line a fan wich is (steve bartman) reaches out tries to get the ball moises alou almost catches it but bartman interfeares after that castillo got a hit and someone else got a double a triple and all of a sudden marlins won the game the series and the world series
Moises Alou over reacted. He did not have a chance to catch the foul ball. Alou being a former member of the Marlins he was on the Marlins when they won the world series in 1997.
It wasnt even just Bartman.. look at the replays.. everyone sitting in that area reached out. When it comes to foul balls, the fans have as much right to reach for it as the players do. Bartman is not at fault here. Plus, he saved the Cubs the embarrassment of getting swept in the World Series
@Fox946 true, as a Sox fan, if florida was the better team, then I wouldn't change a thing. Say Bartman didn't interfare, and the cubs won that game, but they were proven weeker then the Yankees and won that world series, sorry cub fans, but I think he did the sox a favor. Any year the Yankees don't go all the way is a good year, well any year the sox do it, its been a great year.

This movie actually aired on ESPN2 this morning!!..... This video was part of it!!!
@Fox946 i love steve....could be that im from miami and they ended up wining that year

For a while, I believed a rumor that they got rid of the seat, or painted it red and stopped letting people sit there haha
sup
From what I've read, Wrigley Field has had to replace that seat just about every year since because people keep carving things into it.
Your absolutely right.
This clip was on 30 for 30... I just saw it and was like "Hey, I've seen this exact video before!"
NICE!
I hope there's someone dressed as Steve Bartman in that same seat during the NLCS.
Since when is "113" unlucky?

they dont suck they always have a certain player that screws up badly in important games
except he didnt lean over. the ball was in the stands when he hit it
i feel terrible for the guy just thought he was gonna see a cubs game and leaves as the most hated man in chicago its so sad i feel for the guy.

Didn't Ferris Bueller, Cameron and Sloan sit there?
as they're playing dave matthews in the background

Good song in the background. Haha
I sat in the same row but at seat 111 and if he could of easily reached out and get the ball then alou could of made the play

I ain't gonna lie I would've reached for that ball too.
he should of looked and see if alou was coming
