    Every time I visit my grandma whilst wearing a sweater she hasn't seen before, she examines it and then says "when you're done with it turn it over to me"😂
    She unravels it and makes all kinds of wool socks from them that are not only beautiful (and if the material is soft enough, cozy), but extremely necessary in the countryside, where people go through a sturdy pair each winter by wearing them everyday, in the house and outside whilst doing everything necessary around the house, from feeding and cleaning around the animals, chopping wood, shoveling snow and so on.

    Honestly, you adding fabric, cutting, mending it makes it even more personal and magic I think... This is how people used to do at the beginning of the last century and it adds so much story and authenticity to your clothing

    Love how you mindfully organize everything in the drawer. Not just force anything in or dump it, but really think this through. Thank you for the inspiration.

    I really appreciate you showing your used and "ugly" pieces, if I can say so. I wear tanktops under any shirt in winter to keep me warm and they all have got holes in them at the bottom part, because I wear them so regularly. I dont care too much, because hardly nobody ever sees them, but I kinda feel like everybody else has such nice underwear pieces. So seeing your underwear trousers that you fixed yourself and have owned for so long made me smile and feel understood :))

    I love how you altered the knitted jumper by extending the neck! Knitting is such an awesome skill. I often think I am going to have to pick it up again because I really struggle with finding jumpers I like that also fit me (I’m tall and I have long arms!) I recently inherited a jumper/knitted coat thing my grandma knitted and I’ve asked a friend, who is an amazing knitter, to extend the sleeves because my knitting skills are extremely basic. My mum is also really good at knitting and I get all my woolly socks from her (she also fixes them for me!) ❤️🧦

  • @SchneppFlute
    @SchneppFlute 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something to consider if you knit another sweater is starting with the neck band and then knitting down the body etc rather than adding the neck band after finishing the body. That way you can try the fit of the width around your neck. There are videos on how to do this on TH-cam.

      I adore your hand-knit sweater. I can make scarves and blankets, but have never knit in the round before. Maybe I’ll try this winter! I am so impressed you were able to fix it by adding on. If you find it uses too much drawer space, maybe hang it instead? Either from a padded hanger or a pretty wooden one (could likely thrift either), and just from a nail or hook on the side of your dresser?

    I also find that if you have a warm jacket, I have 3, 2 neutral and one purple you don't need as many sweaters as well. I admire the fact that you choose wool sweaters, I find them to much work especially the hand washing and drying so I usually buy 100% cotton sweaters and if I can find it 100% organic cotton. I find that with a warm jacket, sweater and longsleeve top I am not cold. I have 8 sweaters currently all of different warmths and colours but I love all of them and 3 cardigans, 2 hoodies and a fleece hoodie which make up my winter layers along with my long sleeve tops I wear year round along with the hoodies and cardigans and the lighter sweaters :) :) I like the grey sweater as well, I think it works really well on you because of the cuffs on the sleeves, so it doesn't look to oversized :) :) I think its pretty cool that you did the adjustments yourself and that you are skilled enough to do it, most I can do is repair buttons :) :)

Also having so few items you really need to use them all before you can actually do a washing machine, and considering the wool sweaters should undergo a delicate washing cicle, you won't never have enough sweaters to not waste your washing machine...or maybe you have a very small machine?

    • @Woeschhuesli
      @Woeschhuesli 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Amanda Beas re: steeking - think about it, tights ladder vertically, so by cutting knitting lengthways it will not „want“ to unravel. Natural wool will sort of stick together but if steeking scares you, either sew or crochet a single line vertically on each side of the line you will cut to secure the edges... after you cut they will turn back naturlly at that point.
      If you need to cut across knitting you can pick up the stitches just above your cut line so it doesn‘t unravel, and then work from there.
