    I started maintaining a list as a reminder to declutter and look at options. This way, I can take my time and not rely on memory.

    i love blacks & browns together. i would probably dye that whole hoodie black so the arm bands don't stand out (and cover up the pocket spot)

    Thanks to you it’s been a year or so since I started keeping a list of clothes I’m looking for , I only allow myself to buy an item of clothing if it’s been on the list for over a month and I’ve fully thought through if I truly need the item or what the most sustainable option I can go for is :o) This has been life changing ! I had a bad habit of picking up clothes from charity shops because “ I might never see this again ! “ , Now I’m on a sturdy rotation of 45 clothing items ~

      Oh, that makes me very happy! Yes, I know that mindset but I think there are only a few situations where it would make sense to really just buy the item. Have a great weekend ☺

    Hi Lia, just wanted to share that as a fellow 160cm person, I found mid waist jeans to fit best, both comfort and aesthetic wise. High waist tends to make you look a bit disproportional, and it's not the comfiest fit around the waist. Just thought I'd share my experience!

    Ever since I got my Patagonia Nano Puff jacket I use it almost every day in the colder times of the year as a layering piece and it's just amazing. It has a synthetic filling and can be easily washed and is reeeeally light weight. Plus you can pack it in one of its pockets which makes it easy to take with you anywhere.
    You might even be able to find one in their second hand shop (wornwear)! Don't know if it works in Europe... but definitely worth a check ;)
    Btw, why not attaching the new ends to the hoodie and then dye it black? Then you would have a "new" hoodie!

    • @ecofriendlia

      Yes, that is definitely one of the jackets I would love to have! I'll check if they have a secondhand store available for Europe, thanks for the tip! ☺

    I love your beautiful make up free face!
    Wearing make up or not either way we are just as great either way. STILL I want to say you have inspired me to start taking off the make up on my own You Tube channel.
    We are all bombarded with societies unrealistic beauty expectations but maybe for some people this is something they're used to letting go of! I am still on my journey with this one. I still enjoy make up from time to time but I am learning to live with less make up and appreciate natural beauty more.

    I really like the fact that you actually wear out your clothes before letting it go, couldn't be more sustainable than that.
    Problem with my wardrobe is that sustainable choices practically do not exist in my country and everything else is just too expensive, something made in Denmark cost too much compared to where i live unfortunately.

    I love the shorts for bathing suit bottoms. I have some black ones that double as shorts in the summer and then I wear a sport bra as a top, I found one in material very similar to a swim suit so no one would question me and again it gives the piece a double use!!! Love when I can do that!

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a good idea! I am always a bit afraid of using anything else than a "real" bathing suit/bikini because of strict laws in indoor swimming places but if it looks similar enough.... Plus I really don't understand why it has to be a fabric like that.. .

    I have an idea for the comfy pants that you don't like the color of. I have recently been making a bleach bath in my sink and soaking clothing in it until they either turn into a color I like, or become light enough to dye over. A lot of clothes will turn a nice brown or orange shade, or will become light enough to dye any color over.
    You can do plant dyes, or order clothing dye to use. It might not be 100% sustainable, but I have been loving the idea of changing something that I didn't like into something that I love by changing the colors. Bleaching clothes will work as long as they're not polyester. Then you can fill a spray bottle with the rest of the bleach water and use it for cleaning and disinfecting.

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That us actually a good idea! I have done that in the last as well! But I forgot about the bleach option because I don't want to dye everything black. I will think about it and if it isn't the solution for me I am sure somebody else finds value in this comment☺

    What you described regarding the comfy / fancy pants really summed up what I’ve been thinking about these past few days! Basically, I have a pair of those but they’re fast fashion so mentioning brands won’t help you, but I think it definitely could work. cents, if you ask. I wouldn’t add black handcuffs to the hoodie, not because brown and black would be bad in general, but because the contrast would expose how warn out the piece really is. In your place I would rather consider cutting handcuffs altogether and shorten the sleeves, I doubt it will survive more than till the end of warm season anyway, considering intensity of rotation. Also it could be opportunity to play with length of the sleeves, cutting bit by bit till you are satisfied, you might find something new likeable. I would go with something like middle of forearm or maybe just below elbow, but my body type is absolutely different, so you might like something else.
    I guess it was not the plan for your well curated wardrobe, but hey, since you’ve asked :)

    I’d love to see a video about different sustainable brands..
    I looked at the organic basics website and I loved the clothing but it was very very expensive. But then I’m thinking, I would just ideally have a few pieces.
    I loved the colours and the absence of garish designs and prints.
    I’m finding the idea of less choice in the organic basics website comforting in a way.

    Great video, I'm slowly working my way to a more sustainable wardrobe filled with natural fibres. The amount of synthetic clothing I still have shocked me when I took all my clothes out and looked at the labels.
    I've been looking into getting new bras (I've lost weight so mine are too big now haha) and I've found a compant called boody that make supportive bras from bamboo, I'll let you know what the quality when I've ordered one in case it might be an option for you in the future.
    Getting onto ebay to get some vintage levi's, 100% cotton. All my jeans have synthetics in them (I inherited them they weren't bought new)

    I also highly recommend Big Bud Press for pants, they are sustainable and size-inclusive pants which fit just like mom jeans or something but they have an elastic strip at the back which makes them 1million times more comfortable! (They're the only pants I own now haha)

    So I don't like decathlon's business model so much, although I'm glad that they make going outside accessible for people with less money, I feel like a consequence is that they are also treated like disposable fast fashion! But I have found their "trek 100" down jacket second hand for like 10e on vinted, and I've worn it in the winter under my rain jacket for over a year (not counting this year because I hardly went out) and it's still in great condition. It's also the perfect hiking jacket for 3 seasons backpacking, because it's under 300g, so I take it on all my overnight backpacking trips unless it's winter and I'm snowshoeing. Because of decathlon's business model, I see this jacket constantly in every color and size on vinted - so I think maybe a Patagonia one might be more perfect, but I think it's areally good option if you're looking for one!

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

So thank you for the tip, I'll look out for this jacket if I decide to get one☺

    Out of curiosity, do you do all your sewing alterations by hand, or do you have a sewing machine?

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I had a sewing machine but it was not a good one so I always ended up doing it by hand. And then I sold the sewing machine... But sometimes I think it would be nice to have a good one and be able to alter and make so many things ☺

    May I ask, is this the sweater you're wearing? us.organicbasics.com/products/mens-recycled-wool-knit-sweater And if so... you're in the XS? I'm torn between going up to a bigger size in the cropped one or trying this "mens" one. Many thanks!

    Tip for people with clothes they feel they can't donate,
    Speak to your local charity shop, see if they have a 'rag man'. Charity shops sell clothes that are imperfect by weight to someone, you just need to check what happens to them afterwards and see if that aligns with your ethics

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a good idea! I know the shop where I usually bring my clothes does something like that as well where they have different recycling and upcycling programs to make sure that they can avoid as much waste as possible ☺

    doesn't minimalism require, by definition , that one employs a minimized amount of contemplation ?

    Hi Lia. There is no such thing as perfect. Perfection is a subjective concept. I think the best thing is too be happy and you could do with making more of your self because you are a pretty women. Just having a few items like a nice necklace, watch or bracelet, moisturizer and lipstick is not excessive and a good idea for any women. Why not get a nice pair of jeans? They are even more versatile. Blue, especially light blue denim will go with any of your tops. Organic basics do great bras.

      I totally get what you mean... I also made a video about that because I am very aware that most likely I am never going to get to a "perfect" wardrobe. But there are still things that I can improve ☺ so I try to do both, being happy with where I am but not hesitant to change if it will make my life easier ☺

    Hi Lia, you don't think Adidas could be considered a sustainable brand? 🙂 Oh and that hat from organic basics has been in my wish list for so long, very nice ✨

      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No, I don't think Adidas is sustainable... Maybe they have implemented a few sustainable practices but I think most of it is greenwashing if they claim to be sustainable☺ I love the hat, I can really recommend it to you! ☺

    Instead of sweatpants I suggest a pair of joggers! They feel as comfortable as sweatpants but more material of leggings so they can be dressed up or down.

    It would be good if organic basics did a better range of plus sizes. They don’t have much.

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That is absolutely true! (Fair) fashion brands, in general, should be a lot more size-inclusive, especially because a lot of them don't have clothes for average size women, which seems ridiculous since the size range does not correlate with the population... A very small but super nice fair fashion brand with many sizes is "dariadeh" but I am not sure if they ship everywhere ☺

    I have to ask: why don’t you buy new wool-products? You said because of ethical reasons. But you just cut the sheep, not kill them. If we not cut them, they would suffer. Love your minimal, practical and beautiful wardrobe 🙂

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, that is true but in many cases, the sheep are not treated well. They are cut in the process and handled very roughly. I am sure some places cut the wool in a very good way (I have done that myself while the sheep was eating grass, and felt very comfortable) but since most of the time, I really can't know how they harvest the wool I choose to avoid new wool if possible. But in some cases, if I feel like the brand is transparent enough and I want or need something that is only available in new wool I would still buy it ☺

    Minimalist wardrobe? Sounds like an oxymoron. We haven't even gotten to how many pairs of shoes you own... I only wear 1 pair.. flip flops... Same ones I had for 2 years

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I live in a climate with four seasons. I own three pairs of shoes one for winter, one for spring and autumn, and one for summer. With the temperature differences here any less wouldn't be healthy.

    that new sweater would last much longer if you'd wear it with something under, like a shirt or a sleeveless turtleneck t-shirt. there are also separate collars that you can buy, which are quite inexpensive and they look very chic. this buying one thing a month rule shouldn't be set in stone. you can adapt and think how to preserve whatever you have for as long as possible, because this is the ultimate goal. therefore you must invest in maintenance products such as shoe cream, these collars etc. the things are not linear. it is more complicated than that, but preservation of the items should be primordial for any minimalist and anybody who wants to behave in a decent manner with this planet.
