@@ritwikb401 Yes, I know what you mean. He had an extremely unique voice (although Buckley had an odd voice as well) Vocal range also isn't just high but low too, If I were to compare actual vocal ranges i'd have to look up each one of their ranges. I think Buckley would actually win that fight. Layne having a voice no one else had doesn't factor into who had the best voice technically. I'm a vocalist, performer with decent range and I still cry every time I sing Jeff's songs. He was always one foot in heaven, one hand on the string. Thank God for you, Jeff.
You know, you get all these rock stars that can scream their asses off, you get the crooners, you get the angst-filled grungers, you get the awesome punk rockers, but something about Jeff Buckley is just untouchable. He doesn't fit into any of those categories. His voice is just something else, and I desperately want to tribute him by writing about how unique and beautiful and heart-touching and evocative his voice is by writing some descriptive tribute that is so damn poetic, but I'm afraid no one can define just what it is that made him so special. I just can't put it into words. He reminds me of 'Vincent', Don Mclean about van Gogh, the line 'this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.' And now I've gotten that song stuck in my head and my heart is breaking all over again.
yeah, it's incredible. it's like his music is a genre of its own. of course there's the clear element of rock, but like they were saying, his choice of notes really creates something so far beyond any other sounds.

I used to drive by Jeff's house all the time when I lived in Memphis. I don't know why.. I guess I just missed him.. in the way I miss Jimi, Kurt, and Lennon. Luckily we still have their music and because of that, they are still in some ways more alive than some folks who are actually still breathing.
the power on his music, the art of just being himself, the greatness of JB it makes me believe life is bigger than we can ever imagine and music is bigger than life
