Oikawa's story is that he is the player that is not a genius and has no talent, but compete against genius and talented players through hard work. His flash back about almost hitting Kageyama and then realizing through his teammate that he is not the only one fighting and that even if there are strong opponents, the six strongest as a team are the ones that win. That's why Oikawa changed his style to help every player on his team to be the best they can be and work harder than anyone to do it. The first time he appeared he was late for the parctice match because he was recovering from a knee injury caused by training too much. Him saying "talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish" is him saying to himself that those things can be achieved by hardwork, like trying to convince himself that he can be good enough to fight a talented player like Kageyama or Ushijima (Shiratorizawa) by working hard making his talent bloom and polishing his instincts. If you look through Oikawa's perspective he is the underdog, he is the one that has to work harder than anyone just to be between the best and yet he still could not win against Kageyama this time and never won vs Ushijima. He may seem as a douchebag, but he is probably the most relatable character for the feeling of frustration by hitting walls that you can't surpass no matter how much you work. And his flash back about "if you keep thinking that will never happen then it will never will" is him telling himself that as long as you keep trying there is chance that your time will come.
Overall true totally agree, but the idea that Oikawa doesn't have talent is not correct at all. He's not a genius, but he's taller than average, more athletic than average, he's above average. They tell you this in the Oikawa is not a genius episode. He's talented, just not completely over the top like some others. And he makes the absolute most of his talent through unrelenting hard work trying to compete with the people who are just over the top. It's a theme in the show, that the best players aren't just born that way. They had to struggle to get there. That natural gifts aren't enough on their own, you need the work ethic, the mindset, to be the best. And that assuming someone born with gifts you don't have is destined to beat you is just making sure that it happens.
Oikawa is legitimately the biggest example of the biggest lie in Haikyuu: “Hardwork beats talent” Talent can be worked towards to achieve their heights because people can’t realize that they become envious of other peoples skillsets
@@farhanchandra5066 But what if your talent was a strength of will to work hard than the other or what if you worked hard at a skill yourself. The talented player is not talented anymore if you assume he didn’t polish it. It would be different if he like was flawed in execution that an experienced player can see.
Also the last point was the really same quick Kageyama and Hinata used in season 1. Hinata getting the point but tipping the opponents finger by seeing the opening the character development won them the game here.
Because one of you have vball knowledge, watching your reactions is some kind of special cause it feels like those sports commentary dudes on tv doing those play-by-play commentaries (idk what they're called, idk how sports works).
guys, i think you let yourselves be taken by your assumptions of what is gonna happen way too much. I like you reactions a lot and haikyuu has been a delight to watch so here goes and advice or simply an opinion of what i see. Flashbacks, name of the episodes and those little hints here and there are influencing in the expierience, i think. When you assume something is gonna happen this or that way based on these little things, it end up being negative. I can see you love the show, however, i think you would love it even more if you watch it a little more open minded?? For example: Both of you tought seijoh was gonna win the match because of a flashback for oikawa and the name of the episode. this assumption kinda blinded you for the bigger picture of what was happening at the moment because you were so woried that they were gonna win, and that karasuno was gonna lose. i know people and other reactors that keep expecting certain things to happen on specific moments on other shows based on the clichés or other anime tropes such as "flashbacks" at a critical moment and that end up ruining the experience for them, tho its not the case here. In today's episode, oikawa had a flashback extremely meaningfull for HIS character development and in the end it didn't even result in his team's victory. thats why Haikyuu is so special, because its not always about winning or losing. There is a bigger picture and no wonder it has such good characters, and most of them are on the other side of the net. So maybe if you guys zoom out you minds beyond the score of the match, it would be a much better expierience for you. I see that in the discussions, you tend to bring that up more, but if you manage to see that during the episode i guarantee you will love this more then you already do, Not saying you shouldn't root for whoever you want to root for okay? Im just trying to provide a new way of looking at this show or at least make you think a little, even if its for less then a minute while you are reading this comment. So there goes my feedback on these reactions so far, i am saying this because these reactions are special for me, i wouldn't spent this whole time writing if i didn't like it right? i am not saying all this for my sake as a viewer but for yours as a viwer too. I know you are miles ahead on patreon and you probably finished season 3 already but anyways, keep up with the reaction because they are great. Cheers Sorry, its long as hell
Aww I'm a little disappointed that you took the flashback so poorly. It's more meant to send a message the be a powerful for the other team, remember they are kids always growing and changing, they are always training to be better then everyone, so oikawa having a genius silently pressuring him that he'll be surpassed, is stressful. But he can only give up once hes actually done everything he can

That last set from Oikawa to Iwaizumi was absolutely masterful!

when haikyuu do the flashback it's good to pay attention to the dialogue because it is often a bar
Facts
Oikawa is legitimately the biggest example of the biggest lie in Haikyuu:
“Hardwork beats talent”
Talent can be worked towards to achieve their heights because people can’t realize that they become envious of other peoples skillsets
I mean if you dont polished. that talent, you gon' get beat by someone who works hard, and that's a facts.

" suk for shook" lol that was funny,
Years of payback for oikawa? Bro he doesnt deserve it he's literally only taken L's all of his life
