Without a doubt Owikawa is one of the best characters in the show. In this scene when he said “talent is something you make bloom” that sentence alone tell you how determined he is to achieve his goals. Honestly such a well made character.
The Absolute Limit Switch is one of my most rewatched episode in Haikyuu just because of what Oikawa said: "Talent is something you make bloom: Instinct is something you polish." Oikawa had been struggling with the fact that Kageyama was a genius, while he was not. Somehow he felt inferior to his junior, but then with this line, he’s able to escape such internal conflict. Hence, he finally accepted that although he is not a genius, he can still “bloom” and “polish” his skills. and what's even MORE crazy is that this also applies to Kageyama. He is not just a genius. He has been leaving and breathing volleyball since he was a child. Everything Kageyama can do is something that he made bloom and polished.
I don't know if you didn't but reactors in general tend to forget the significance of that last set. The last set was the same set-up as their game against them in season 1 that got blocked. But the difference now is Hinata isn't hitting with his eyes closed. In the first season he wasn't watching and got stuffed; Hinata didn't even see the ball until it was behind him on the ground. In this season he is looking, he sees the hole in the block and aims for it, he grew, they grew
But even then Oikawa is good enough to have it - if not for the pure luck of the ball getting deflected off of the block (since Hinata does not seem to be aiming for unless he did it last second as a reaction to Oikawa taking away his spot), he would have picked it up. The amount of wonderplays in that rally is insane.
This was the episode that solidified my oikawa simping. As someone that plays the same position as him this episode shows him finally breaking away from this complex that he is inferior to kageyama in terms of skill, you can watch through both seasons every episode oikawa undermines his skill compared to kageyama, since he technically is the rock Lee of the series in my opinion, he says over and over that he can't match kageyama in pure in ability, "I can't set any crazy godlike quick like he does on instinct" he says, yet in this final moment he does an insane cross court twisting set to the most illogical(from a difficulty perspective) place, to his best friend on the right on instinct. I think I've said this before on every reaction to this episode ever lol
fun fact, that last shot from hintata is the exact same as for the last time they had a match, difference is hinata open his eyes now, it is just so awesooooome!!!!!

I still get goosebumps whenever I watch that last rally. Truly one of the best back and forth plays out of all the seasons.
That last rally was awesome. Karasuno beat Seijou by this much. Not sure if it was luck or Kageyama was just that good.
