    Hi Charlie, a great explanation video! Btw, I would like to ask for your view on this particular scenario.
    1. I mostly will set the temp of the ac around 26-28 deg, rarely lower.
    2. Outside temperature is ranging around 30-34 deg.
    3. Only 1 side of the room is having direct sun, with 1 window panels and 2 doors (bathroom and living)
    4. Would say heatload on the lower side (mainly for sleeping and working with a laptop)
    Now, my room size is at the edge of either 1 hp or 1.5 hp. Planning to get an inverter unit, which hp should I go for? Thanks in advance!

    A basic thing is to turn on your AC early, before it becomes uncomfortably hot. My peak hour is 4 pm at 34 Celsius and I want it to be 27 Celsius to be comfortable. There's a big difference in power consumption bringing the temperature down from 34 to 27 than from 30 to 27, so I switch on my AC at around 2 pm. Sure, it runs 2 hours longer, but at a much lower power consumption overall. Also my 2 ceiling fans help to get rid of hot spots under and in furniture etc. and it pushes the cold air down. I have the same LG AC (VM182C6). The Sleep Function is genius as it the low temperature gets uncomfortable after some time.

    I recently bought the LG window inverter 1.5 ton. Is LG application accurate about the KWh consumption? Also, my AC has ths energy-efficient saving mode but it doesn't have the option like yours where you can use it at 80/60/40. Should I used energy saving mode at 16 degrees or use it at 24 degrees? Or I shouldn't use energy saving mode at all and use normal mode at 24 degrees? Your reply would be appreciated. You have gained a new subscriber for your informative content. You know what, I was just thinking of testing out if the app shows correct reading or not, so stay tuned, I will make a video on this topic, a lot of people have asked about this.
      If you want the best power savings, run the AC between 26-28 and the fan set to medium for daytime and low at night, test and experiment what temperature you find the most comfortable and balance power savings. 😊
      As for energy saver mode, I am not sure how it works as I don't have it on any of the ACs. 🤔

    Question on time. Is it necessary to open the inverter AC for at least 8hours? (Or is there a magic number?) to make it more energy efficient?
    Or I can turn it off even as short as 1 hr as long as my desired 26 temp is reached?
    I'm worried that the on/off burst is more energy inefficient rather than just opening it for the whole day.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you, Rona. I prefer turning off the AC whenever I can. It saves energy and extends like life of the AC itself because its not always running. There is no magic number to this, I think you should use your AC as you feel like.
      But if you are switching it off for just 30 minutes, its better to leave it running.

    • @saswatachakraborty
      @saswatachakraborty 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The longer you keep an inverter AC on, the shorter the consumption is. For example, when I use my AC for 4+6 hours (4 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours at night), it consumes almost 9 units but when I use it for 16 hours at a stretch, it consumes only 12 units.

      I have a regular submeter installed for my 1.5 ton ac. I use for about 14hrs, yet subneter only shows 2-3 units a day! I use at 30 degree at 40% capacity (sometimes decrease the fan to low/medium as i feel cold). My roof is fully exposed to the sun as i am top floor. The household bill for 3 months was 9875 while this ac only consumed Rs1170 for 2 months (117 units*10 Rs/unit; submeter installed for only 2 months). Is my submeter working? Or is it normal for an inverter ac to consume such low units when used at such settings...? P. S. No other ac here. But geyser used by landlord everyday for bath, and of course the daily water motor for overhead tanks. Winter bills are around Rs5000/3months with daily 4 geysers and water motor.

    It's kinda weird how both 26°C and 28°C seem to use the same amount of energy, right? You'd think that as it gets hotter, you'd need more energy to cool things down. But nope, apparently not! It's like, what's going on there?
    Maybe it's because our way of figuring out energy use isn't picking up on all the little things that affect it. Like, maybe the building's insulation or how efficient the AC is could be playing a big part. And hey, people might change how they use stuff depending on how hot it is outside, you know? Like, maybe they crank up the AC more when it's super hot, but not so much when it's just a bit warmer.
    Also, maybe the data we're using isn't totally spot-on. Like, how accurate are those energy usage estimates anyway? Maybe we need to double-check our numbers and see if there's anything we're missing.
    Anyway, it's definitely worth looking into more. If we can figure out why the energy use stays the same even when it's hotter outside, we could maybe find ways to save energy and cut down on costs. And that's gotta be a good thing, right?

    Can you do a power reading regarding dry vs sleep mode?

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, in dry mode, when the room reaches the set temperature the indoor blower fan shuts off, this is to prevent the moisture on the coils from re-entering into the room.
      One disadvantage of dry mode is you can't set the temperature manually, the AC sets it automatically based on the outdoor and indoor temp, sometimes it will be set at 25, 26 and even 28 during the afternoon, which makes it difficult to do a power consumption test because the temperature will always be different in dry mode.

      It indeed is oversized, it was a conscious decision to go with a bigger unit because its got a feature which let's you run it lower power (tonnage) I always run it at 40% power setting which is more than enough to cool the room even when it's 40 degrees outside, and because a 2ton unit has a much bigger outdoor unit and a big condenser, it's gonna be more efficient, and because it's always running at low power, it's going to last a long time (less stress on electronic components).

      @@TechGuyCharliedoes your outdoor unit fan & compressor stops? When reaching the set temp on the remote?
      Because base on my observation on my haier split type dc inverter the outdoor fan & compressor stops sometimes when it reached the set temp.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does, but only during off or rainy season when it's not that hot outside, during summers I've noticed the compressor keeps running all the time and the AC consumes about 500-700 watts on average.
      But, during winters, when the AC runs in heat mode, the compressor stops more often because here, the outside temperature doesn't get below freezing and the manual power control setting does not work in heat mode, but this is not an issue in cooling mode because of manual power control.
      What you are seeing on your Haier split is normal.

    • @TechGuyCharlie

      I'm guessing It's running in dehumidification 'dry' mode, because when you run the AC in dry mode, the indoor fan shuts off along with the compressor to prevent moisture from coming back into the room.
      Change the mode to 'cool' to make it run normally.
      Not sure about the power consumption in dry mode, I prefer running it in cool mode only.

    Do we need to take Amc for extended warranty?. What is maintenance cost of this ac?

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, let me try and answer your questions:
      1. I don't think AMC is mandatory for extended warranty, as the tech who came to install offered extended warranty without AMC.
      2. Maintenance cost is ZERO, that is if you maintain the AC yourself, maintenance is simple:
      - clean the filters on the indoor unit every month
      - Secondly, wash the outdoor condenser coil with plain water every year
      - and lastly clean the indoor units coil every 3 years (for this you will need to call LG)

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Initially I was planning on re-doing 26 and including it in this video, but the very next day the max temp dropped to 40, and after that it was 38, so this is what makes it very difficult to do these kind videos, because if I want 100% accurate results then the outside temp should be exactly the same as it was the previous day, and it always never is. 😁
      By the way, I usually keep the temperature at 26 at night while sleeping and 28 during the day when its 38-42 this gives an average of 7-9 units depending on how hot it is outside, I hope this helps.

      Not every model comes with a micro dust filter bro, so its normal for your AC to not have one. You can always buy one from LG, but these hardly make much difference, if you want clean air, I would suggest a air purifier, even a cheap air purifier will perform a lot better than this.

    You may have noticed that the User Manual explains the features of your AC but also states "Optional" or "Depending on your specific model". The only way to find out which features are available on your specific AC is to cycle through the "Mode" and "Func" menus. Mine has all the features available. It is a cold only model because I don't need heating where I live.
