    Me and my gf traveled in a deluxe nightjet sleeper cabin last year, in the old train. We paid just under €400 for the two of us and it was so worth it!

      This are the old price levels, and for a deluxe I think it's a fair price. However for the deluxe with the new price level, it might even go up to double from what you paid.
      My tracel companions also paid under € 400,- for a deluxe compartment.

    I visited Innsbruck on many weekends when I was stationed in Augsburg in 1971. The Hauptbahnhof in Innsbruck has been completely renovated. I didn't recognize any of it. I was also there in the late '80s on business, and it was still the old station. One thing I liked a lot was the hotel booking desk by a side exit. I would just take a train to Innsbruck and go to that desk on arrival. They had descriptions of all of the hotels in the area, including the Altstadt (old city). I would pick one and they would call and check availability. Once we found an available hotel, they would book a reservation for me, so the hotel knew I was on my way. They were all within a short walk of the Hauptbahnhof. I spoke German, but was clueless with the Austrian dialect, so I really liked that service. I also appreciated that you pronounced ÖBB correctly. 👍

    The one great disappointment for me of the night rail services is the lack of a proper restaurant car, although if provided I probably would need a mortgage to pay for the meals.

    Thank you., I really like your video, very thoroughly. Well done. I like to go next year august, from Amsterdam to Linz Austria, can i take this train as well? I''like to take the sleeping car. Looks very smooth.

    Regarding luggage space in the pods: there is actually an additional (and quite large) compartment under the mattress, but only in the _lower_ pods.
    How annoying did you find the beep from the control panels? I reckon that switching on the light in the middle of the night could easily wake up people in the surrounding pods...

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ohhh good to know for the luggage.
      Oh yes the beep on the control panel, I haven't mentioned it in the video, it's very annoying I guess if you have someone next to you beeping the entire night. The sound should be way softer (or maybe time bound?). The video is already way too long, but I definitely should have added thism

    Excellent reportage ! Très bonne traduction en français, excellente image ! Mais le présentateur devrait bien servir de guide pour les clients qui n'ont pas l'habitude de voyager dans un train d'un tel confort !

    Thank you so much for this good info abt HH-Innsbruck. When I was younger, I used the german night trains at least 22 winters to go for skiing in the area of Innsbruck. I always booked a Liege in a 4-bed-cabin and liked it very much.
    Now my question: the new single-cabin, do you know the height of the Liege? On the video it looks as if you have to climb up? And you get into this small cabin from the short (feet) side? I am ill with my hips and cannot climb - do I nevertheless have a chance to use such a cabin? Tks in advance for yr answer and good luck for yr future trips - Bettina (66 years) from Hamburg 😊

    I was in Salzburg, Austria yesterday, its even better than the German train stations
    ÖBB >> DB
    The staff all speak good English. While the DB staff mostly dont speak any English. And seem to have no clue what is happening and always contradict each other.
    DB is a MESS

      Germany can definitely do something about punctuality in for trains, I can imagine this also impacts the mood of the staff. However so far I noticed in general friendly staff in Germany as well.

    Why are the toilets gender specific when they're solo occupancy? That doesn't make any sense.

    I wouldn't bet on those coffins standing the test of time, people who want to go cheap will stick with seated accomodation and people who want to travel overnight in more comfort will not find the pods a good enough option......

    • @val_de_maar
      @val_de_maar 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I disagree. Its great for solo travelers who want a bed for the night. Previously, if I went solo, I either had to share the compartment with strangers (nope, never) or book a whole compartment. Solo travelling was expensive. With these "coffins", I can have privacy for 100€ from Vienna to Hamburg, and I even get a good nights sleep, which I wouldnt get on these normal seats

    • @raymondmiller5098

      Disagree. Its better than sleeping in a Couchette with strangers.

      I wouldn't pay for a full sleeper but also wouldn't spend the night on a seat. Without such a tiny cabin I'd just take the airplane

      @val_de_maar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I slept in one of those "coffins" 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I gotta say, it will say that I slept comfortably. They are amazing. Will do again

    I havent seen anything so dehumanizing and uncomfortable as new nightjet, let aside the idea how they have of course did everything to make those how pay heavy money for train tickets enjoy their ride, once very comfortable 6 seats coupes have disappeared and you have tiny sardines style packed seating chairs and full lights on during the whole night. But lets talk about mini cabins that are being sold as a japanese capsuls hotels. It is so claustrophobic that does not even have place for a simple luggage, luggage is left in a 3 class sitting with a special card and you have possibility to tight it up with some metal rope. 4 bed couchette cars in my opinion resembles rooms in a american prison. The amount of plastic is just staggering. Conclusion - if you are not ready to pay 200 euros for a once in a life time experience please forget this train.

    I kept waiting for you to tell me specific compartment prices----and you didn't. That is enough to convince me to go to other vlogs which make costs very clear.

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Prices are very flexible and at this moment there are many changes in the fare system in this video I didn't mention prices indeed.
      Because prices are very flexible, depending on demand and comfort category I never mention what I paid myself.
      I do take any feedback serious, however the tone of voice says it all. You write it on a complain and not in a question or something you would like to see in the video, i guess you just want to complain and yes I could have mentioned a bit about the prices.
      For you: prices start at € 29,- and can go up to just over € 1.000 and everything in between you can find the prices easily online on the Nightjet website for example.

      It is expensive other than a seat in the open carriage. Interesting to see but I doubt I would use at 1000€!
