I practiced these moves with a broomstick (with two yarn hands tied on) until I was sound enough to use my roommate as a dummy, so now I'm set to impress my Wednesday night date at the dance! Thanks!

I've been told it's New York hustle, but it's now being used for country swing dancing and I love it! I've been working in lift for a Long time and ended up getting tendonitis in my rotator cuff and bicep so it's kept me from the lifts, but your videos have given me some ideas on adding variations to my swing dance style without using lifts! Thanks!

on the hand twister if you keep your hands higher it goes into the window a lot smoother. If you take your hand out of the window and reconnect below your arm you will only have to spin her once the other way to get into the opposite window. Its not as showy but seems to be easier to make smooth

Hi Katherine! I can not thank you enough for posting these videos :) My fiance and I were really struggling to find a dance instructor in our price range for our wedding, and we were on a short timeline to learn how to dance. We were able to watch your video series and put together our wedding dance in 3 hours the weekend before our wedding! I love the simplicity and breakdown of the moves it made it super easy, fun and stress free to learn how to dance:) Thank you, you are a total life saver:) I'd love to send the video to you, what is the best way to connect?

Just so you know, you're actually dancing "New York Hustle" a partner dance form the 1970s that's danced to disco music. "The Pretzel" also isn't an advanced move, it's a beginner move, since most beginners learn it in about 5 minutes. :-)

Thanks lindyhop411 ! We weren't 100% sure where all of these came from. We are teaching random fun mixes of swing dance moves at some Ohio 4-H functions and at a recreation leadership workshop called Buckeye Leadership Workshop. Having more history is helpful! We just want to get people up and moving and having fun!

We think all of the moves are beginner moves which is why we are attempting to teach them (since we, ourselves, are not experts!) We hope to teach a variety of moves like this through 1 hour sessions for 4 consecutive days.

Katherine Feldhues You might want to look up some of the basic instructional videos of country two step as well as east coast swing, and perhaps even waltz. Country music has a variety of rhythms and one dance doesn't fit all. :-)
