Pro tip about the fiberglass in your skin . Use Vinegar, saturate a rag and wipe it on your skin, it will sting for a few minutes but thats about it. After you take the sting as long as you can wipe it off and do it again. I promise you it literally liquefies the fiberglass particles Into water. I hope you read this comment and use this information. I was a commercial insulator for 15 years in Memphis, and learned this trick from a veteran insulator that use to insulate submarines. I love watching your content and will be getting a boat soon. You have inspired me tremendously sir. All the best to you and your friends. I can't wait for the next episode.
The materials used are pretty nasty in insulation on boat industry and vehicle. My uncle worked with it. I remember him saying always use masks and protective suits regardless of heat.Better sweat than sorry after some time...health is more important than a damn boat.
Congratulations Colin. You just (re)discovered Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law. Nice watching your videos!
Colin, the perfectionist in you, suits you well. Getting things 100% is ideal, 99% is also very good ;-) for non-professionals, you guys are doing an A-job !
Colin, you and the crew did an amazing job. It was a pleasure to watch the process from start to finish. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the series. Now, on to Parlay
Colin, I've watch every episode from the start to the finish. I'd just like to say your to hard on yourself. That molded patch section from what I could tell was spot on. nothing is perfect when you work with fiberglass. If I was in the market for a refurbished boat or even one that had just been salvaged. I'd want someone like you (or even you) and your team to be the ones to survey it and do the repairs on it and bring it back to factory specs. You don't mess around, you don't cut corners, you do things the right way, When your done from what I've seen its better than it was out of the factory. I look forward to your project in Panama.
I'm also restoring a speedboat, nothing like you, but we're doing it with a lot of love, we put the US flag I love this country I'm Brazilian I loved your restoration
Binge watched all 102 of your previous episodes over the last two weeks. Absolutely amazing. Your ambition and personality draws people to you. Keep on glassing Colin!!!
Excellent job Colin .. and you are correct .. you never stop learning .. wish you and the crew the best and keep those videos coming ! ... can’t wait to see you cast the lines on Parlay
There is nothing wrong with being a perfectionist, and your buyer will be thrilled with the work you have done. Hope you can get back to Parlay soon...and your pup!
I recognized the sound of your air compressor and it is the very same as the one I own!! Crazy! Mine is sold as a Craftsman bought in Canada quite a while ago! It works really great and I have abused it with sandblasting and spray painting activities!! Cheers guys!! Great channel!
Great vid Col. That boats deffo got a new lease of life in it. Massive transformation with a little bit of hard graft and lots of TLC. Well done to you and the team. Looking forward to next weeks vid.
I have been a fiberglass laminator for 30 years on and off, at the moment I work at Riviera Luxury Boats on the Gold Coast in Australia, it is so good to see a PROPER job being done, and the correct materials being used the right way. So sick of seeing back yard bodge jobs. This will be a good honest boat for whoever gets it in the end. Nice work.
You are doing well with only a factor of two for actual time compared to planned time. A factor of three occurs often enough and is still realistic. Any kind of repair or refit contains a certain amount of discovering previously unknown facts, little or big. Good luck and best wishes, all this will help with Parlay!
You have to trademark the famous Colin fist pound show of strength. Colin pounds on it and declares it fit! Of course it can cross the Atlantic< Colin pounded on it. Great content guys, I've enjoyed all your videos.
So Col, tomorrow you take a plane to Belgium, fix some gelcoat on my Dufour 40, as you realise, french boats can always use some extra gelcoat. Well done again, stay safe mate. Cheers.
Whats up Mr below deck couldn't believe it when I woke and sall you on one the biggest drama tv shows in the world. Lol props atleast you keep your word and hold true to who you are. 👏
Can’t dislike this content, but let down by the gap between engine install and splashing her. Otherwise, a job very well done. You give me inspiration to fix every problem with my own boat. Keep wearing a mask when making dust. Keep up the good work!
You should always use yellow moulds if you're working in sunlight because it will not get hot at all. Trust me paint something anything and do part this colour part that colour and then 1 part in yellow then put it out in the sun to charge lol to heat up then touch each colour with your hand or use a laser temperature device and you will feel or see that the yellow is still cold to the touch etc and all the other colours are hot.
I really regret not filming my truck project now that I have watched a few other people doing videos of their projects. This is the kind of stuff I love, I would love to be a part of something as big as rebuilding a boat, never did anything like that. Learn new stuff, love it.
Damn and now my binge watching is over..... Just watched all 108 Episodes in about a week super awesome series love all of what parlay revival has done and you seem to be a great person driving it all forward Colin wish I knew you guys were in FL I would've definitely come lend a hand for free as well just to get a chance to learn and hang out with the Parlay crew. Look forward to seeing the work on Parlay now. If you ever back in FL I'd love to meet with you guys from a Facilities Chief Engineer to a Yacht Chief Engineer haha. Keep up all the great work and great content!
Grow your channel!!! Ever notice how big youtubers seem to all know each other...that’s cause that all do!! You guys should be sending endless DMs to people with large subscribers, do collaborations! You have a personality that even big channels would benefit from!! I wanna see what kinda DIY projects you can do with a bigger budget! Your focus word for this quarter should be COLLABORATION!!!!!!!No one grows a big channel without it
Parley was ranked #27 in October 2020 with 90.6 thousand TH-cam subscriptions and today should be somewhere around #17 with 123 thousand subscriptions, which is a gain of 3 thousand subscriptions in just the past month. The future looks so bright they'll have to permanently wear shades
4:54 wondering if you were to measure using a little infrared temp measuring meter, if you would have known what the actual temp was everywhere, especially the spot that got too hot. You would then know where your cut off point temp wise would be, that would be good info to have ! That said, I suppose a person could set up some sort of shade ? Hopefully the seals in the bottom of the sail drive which keep sea water out and oil in were replaced.
Been loving the repair work videos your channel just go from strength to strength I can’t wait for you guys to fix up your yacht get in the Pacific back to New Zealand and follow you up through Asia

Just been watching some old vid’s back when Jamie came on board... just brilliant 👍
Super enjoying this channel watching boat restoration!

You have to trademark the famous Colin fist pound show of strength. Colin pounds on it and declares it fit! Of course it can cross the Atlantic< Colin pounded on it. Great content guys, I've enjoyed all your videos.
Thanks
Love seeing all the hard graft and skillz. The only man to finish a boat on time was Noah. ( And I bet he had a snag list as long as your arm .... )
So Col, tomorrow you take a plane to Belgium, fix some gelcoat on my Dufour 40, as you realise, french boats can always use some extra gelcoat.
Well done again, stay safe mate. Cheers.
I prechilled my gelcoat in fridge and use low catalyst due to florida heat never stopping and not having a shop.

That mold might be worth some money. Anyone with the same boat and the same damage would pay good money to have it.
I was thinking that.
was wondering how they did the mould, did the get it from manufacturer or create their own mould from another boat on the same marina??
@@kostastefanou5337 They had a similar boat right there in the yard.
Awesome Content has really Helped with my own projects. Thanks guys much appreciated 👍
Look forward to the videos every Sunday
Very Cool
Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Really interesting to know the reason for failures such as sun heat on the mold
That’s crazy double the time a lot of work.
Great job guys, it gave me a perspective of what really goes on behind the scenes, when it comes to boat repairs. Thanks great video.
