    Love this game!! Came from work today and fired up my PS4. Had the TV all the way blasting. My wife on the other side of the house kept complaining that it was too loud. Me: "but this is the way we used to play back in the arcade days". Lol.

      I just wish it were better, which is totally a subjective thing; There is a lot we don't really enjoy about it compared to greats like Raiden IV Overkill or Raiden DX. But we're glad you dig it! I'd be boring if everyone agreed with everyone else (but I could do without people "correcting" us about which is best.)

    Best game in the primary series. The shield system makes far more sense than being instantly killed. Amazing music and a solid challenge. Bit on the long side though and agree with the occasional panning and zooming issues for spotting bullets.

    For your notification, you can get the best ending by simply filling up all your power up levels to 10 and then defeating the True Final Boss.

      Oh man, don't limit yourself like that, you'll miss out on way, way too much. Physical games are glorified downloads these days; unless it has standard, regular stuff like booklets and inserts as they did in the past, physical is only really good for resale. Raiden V proves that if it's physical, many modern games can still be crippled sooner than anyone would care to admit!

    For a game series that had little to no story to begin with, the story is actually pretty good, although it could’ve been presented in much better ways with less distractions and better voice acting. It’s also fairly depressing as well, and one of the endings hints at a possible sequel. I do think we will be seeing Raiden VI, or something new related to Raiden, since MOSS has opened a new subdivision, Kaminari Games, and the concept art that was posted appears to take place in the Raiden universe from a FPS perspective

  • @entertainmentwizard2703
    @entertainmentwizard2703 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Ser you didn't mention to reach the true final boss and get the best ending you need to stay on either the A or S route and you need to level up all your weapons to 10 or you won't see the true good ending! Great review!

    • @StudioMudprints
      @StudioMudprints  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can't mention what we're unaware of. We stayed in "S" the whole game but focused only on one weapon.... that powerup system is so weak. Good that there are even more endings. We'll make more of an effort to mention things like that in the future.

  • @rpgnut5897

    I played the game without the cheer system (mainly so I don't have to pay for Nintendo's crummy online service) and honestly, it doesn't feel like I'm missing anything. So far, I've only gone through once, and so far my thoughts kinda line up with yours. I need to play it a few more times before I'm final and I may think this game is slightly better or worse then you say. I should note this game was actually initially developed as a console exclusive hence some of the odd choices like multiple endings.

    • @StudioMudprints
      @StudioMudprints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cheer system is take it or leave it. The stage charting for score and such is important though, and it's locked behind a paywall via Nintendo online in the Switch version.

  • @MrExnihlo

    Moss deserves way more credit for this game than they will probably ever get. I hate the character portraits, the voice overs, all the info in the bezels that don't matter while playing, and not being able to play in tate. These all seem to be bad decisions when thinking about what your fan base is going to care about.
    However, I have to accept that the fan base is really small, as is the market for these games that I love. In terms of trying to expand the market these are great choices, although how well they executed it is arguable. It seems like their strategy with a lot of the changes wasn't with players in mind (new or old) but focusing on a potential audience watching the game being played. That makes sense out of not allowing tate and adding a bunch of stuff you can't really follow while playing. I would prefer having the game not be like this but I would also prefer to play raiden 6 and moss trying to create a more stream friendly presentation I think is a brilliant thing to try and you should award them more points in your ingenuity category.

Also there is a flickering shadow (glitch) on the top- right of the action screen, once you see it you can't unsee it. Even though I bought it on sale for 8€ I regret doing so, I have deleted it and never looked back.

    Guys, I love your channel. Top notch STG reviews, really. One thing though: it would be great when you would include if the games have a Tate mode. A lot of STG players love to hook up their consoles to a vertical BVM/PVM. Sadly most of your reviews for shmupbox360 are already done, but maybe you can add a short comment on a Tate mode in future ...

    • @StudioMudprints
      @StudioMudprints  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We always do that, and if we miss one, it's typically the rare exception. I literally just went through all of our XB360 reviews and all but two (Eschatos in Series 3 and Bullet Soul in Series 4) mention or demonstrate it. But, these also have updated reviews that go over their tate modes. This kind of function is typically in the Presentation section of the review. Every Switch game that supports it also has it mentioned in the Presentation phase.

    • @StudioMudprints
      @StudioMudprints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mmmm, no not really. It's not actually a 3:4 aspect like Ikaruga Tate, which is the right aspect ratio on its side, there would still end up being a letterbox, even on a standard display. It's only slightly taller than square, unlike others like Under Defeat, Batsugun or DoDonPachi. It would be a bit bigger, sure, but not significantly.
      Side note: I produced the alternate tracks in Ghost Blade HD. I'm not proud of it though, they weren't especially good to me.
