The Liverpool 2-3 years ago were electric. Scoring a lot but didn't have any defense. Utd is not scoring a lot except for the Chelsea game and they beat a young Chelsea side that was and (still is) trying to build. Liverpool back then had a plan they just didn't have anyone in the defense strong enough to do their job. But I feel like Man Utd is still trying to find its identity

Certain United fans are gonna go mental at Ole for "parking the bus" despite being proper adventurous in the first half. Yes he could've changed tactics a bit quicker in the second half, but he did incredibly well to get this result with this team. Rojo and Young starting ffs. This 3-4-1-2 set up by United reminds me of LVG's own versions 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 at United. But Ole's been far better in terms of the fluidity of the play.
We've been doing well when playing with 3-man centrebacks system (with LVG's and Ole's). Why dont we keep using it for the rest of this season, making use of Lindelof and Young abilities to surge forward often. The system allows better pressing from our midfielders (even Fred looking comfortable going for intense pressing).
Within 3-4-1-2, just imagine if Pogba is playing the role behind the strikers instead of Andreas. I think we'd been doing better than now. Just get another striker (likely be a targetman like Mandzukic) for a Plan B in games.
Maybe an addition of David Brooks could help us in the final third.
United went into the game wanting a draw! Now they are depressed by not getting the win!
Hedgehog Gaming5 yeah because that first half, Liverpool were battered, United fucked them in pressing, organisation, countering and possession alike. They were completely disrupting everything Liverpool did. They just could not hold out for a full 90. From about the 75th minute United tired as expected and knew they couldn’t do what they did the first half so they sat a bit deep, some would say too deep. Ole should have made the changes from the 75th minute. Unlucky from United today but in the absolute grand scheme of things, this isn’t the worst result.
@@UltimateFeudEnterprise It isn't really unlucky from United though is it - they shouldn't of had a goal, if Henderson brushing Young's face was considered by Atkinson to be a foul, then so was the challenge on Origi, if both those situations where handled the same, it would of been 0-0, then Liverpool score a legitimate goal 1-0. The only unlucky team here is Liverpool, based on the fact the referee couldn't decide where the bar for challenges was, Fabinho puts in a challenge and wins the ball but gets a Yellow then five minutes later the roles are reversed and the Man United player doesn't get a yellow, in fact his isn't even issued a light warning... luck was clearly on their Man United side.

I agree. I get why some fans are angry with the result, saying the occasion got to us, but realistically, we can't choose how we're going to turn up on the day. That's football. Considering that, we did really well to stay composed and snag a draw. It actually gives me more confidence than if we had have won 4-0. We can grind out points even when we don't fully deserve them

I have to give Ole a lot of credit.
I've doubted he's got the tactical nouse the way he's set up against AZ and Newcastle in particular recently, which I thought were United's worst performances for decades.
I was saying that he needed to play five at the back but doubted he'd have the nerve to do it at home, so huge amount of credit for doing it. It was also nice to see that (planned or not) Rojo was able to play a covering role for Young, so he could stay a bit further up the pitch and not tire himself out so much running back all the time with his old legs. That was smart.
I know this isn't the formation we want to see for years to come but if we can get the whole squad used to this for the rest of the year, (until we can get some more firepower in january) this will hopefully ensure we stay out of the bottom half at the end of the season because I really have feared that Ole insisting on the 4-3-2-1, when we don't have the right players, could leave us in the relegation zone.

@@papichulo4949 just watch the the explanation given by some referees, they said it's not a clear n obvious foul, meaning the contact was too minimal for VAR to interfere. That means it's up to the referee to decide if it's a foul. At first glance I tot it was a foul, but looking at it a few times, the amount of contact lindelof had was not enough to bring him down, and origi made it worse by exaggerating it. Lindelof barely touched his calf n origi was already on his way down. That's why the referee felt it was not a foul.
