The thing about man city's tactical fouls is the first time a player does it they rarely get a yellow. It takes about 3 or 4 city players for the ref to finally give one. By the end of the match they've stopped about 10 counter attacks and nobody is sent off.

Jose just made the most important point about Mane's "alleged" diving, that we have VAR and it will pick it up. As for the tactical fouls that a different story.
Hopefully they will use VAR for more things like tactical fouls.
They could even use it to reset the players back into their positions when the foul was committed. A bit like snooker when balls are put back after some fouls.

Any top side that has gone to anfield and tried to play an open game has been on the receiving end of a hiding. Be Yourself Basically what he’s saying is the only way you’ll get a decent result at Anfield (playing against one of our better teams that is) is by parking the bus and praying for a scrappy goal or two provided Liverpool haven’t got their shooting boots on at home which is very rare nowadays. Even when United were at their peak and we were in the gutter they still had to play a cautious game at Anfield.

They play with an incredibly high line and press, brighton dont have to make tactical fouls in the opposition half because they defend deep. City and liverpool play high lines and foul the counters every single time. Its disgusting.

City miss that man Vincent Kompany. They don't have the leader and captain. They don't have that top class commanding centre back. They need to get a good replacement for him as soon as possible and pair him with Laporte who needs to stay fit.
Every team fouls tactically, but not to the extent that Pep's City do. It's part of their tactics. Fernandinho in particular is VERY good at it in that he knows which areas and which fouls he can commit without getting booked. It allows them to commit more men forward with less risk as they know they can prevent the counter threat. We've seen them lose a few teams over the last couple years, and they're typically won by exploting City on the counterrather than being 'outplayed'. It's a dirty tactic whic distorts how performances translate into results, and in general professional fouls need to be sanctioned better. For instance, the team that was fouled shouldn't have to worry about the ball being at a complete halt and for the referee to stop the game and blow their whistle and everything -- this all just gives the defending team (City in this case) a chance to get back into their half and have a breather. Similarly, it would be good if the man who fouled the player had to stand on the otherside of the free kick (so the opposite of goal side).

FC Porto achieved the insane Mourinho streak in large part due to excellent tactical fouling. When ever that team used to be exposed Maniche and Costinha committed a tactical foul. It's part of the game, not an insult or something to be critical about. As long as the foul isn't in any way vicious, because then it seizes to be "Tactical".

The problem is that City always get away with getting no yellow card when they do it.
Its part of the game, but there are times when consecutive fouling doesnt get punished, mostly when city and in particular when Fernandinho does it.
There were even times during the seasons passed where they got away with fouls that would be straight reds, such as the fouls on a striker by Otamendi when the striker was through on goal twice, I forget the matches in question but I did not forget that they happened.
Tactical fouls by Kompany in situations where there was a chance to change momentum of the match, they do it consistently versus teams with lower standing, its a farce tbh. Players can press high and try to win the ball, but when it becomes dirty and consistent a referee needs to put his foot down.
Souness and Keane - two legends in the midfield - that would have been the toughest central midfield of all time.

Belgian man speaking here, for those who want to know more about Kompany's last few months in Belgium at Anderlecht: RSCA went really downhill over the last few years. They needed a drastic fresh start, but as with all great clubs it's a hard sell for fans, the outside world, the press that you want to start over with a clean slate. Look at ManU, look at AC Milan, even Real Madrid to some degree... The richest clubs in the world struggle, so obviously it's hard for the clubs with just a snipped of those kinds of budgets to keep their head high and maintain a steady form.
About his performance at Anderlecht as a player/manager: He did a lot of good already. The first and second choice of RSCA should always be their own, young players. They have a great youth academy (Lukaku, Tielemans, Dendoncker, Kompany, even Batshuayi played there as well until he was 16 I believe,...), they had to stop wasting money on foreign players who brought nothing to the table and let those youngsters have a go at it. That's what Kompany stands for so that is what's happening at Anderlecht right now. As I stated, that's a hard sell because fans and press expect some "big names" every transfer season that will perform instantly. Youngers, as talented as they are, will always perform with ups and downs. When a true club and country legend as Kompany walks into the club and he talks about what the new plan of action is going to be, people tend to listen. Even if it is as drastic as playing with 7 or 8 teenagers, like Anderlecht is doing right now.
It is going with ups and downs, as you can expect with such drastic changes. But they will get back to the top in Belgium and at a good European level, with a proud Vincent Kompany leading them there. Anderlecht-fans are lucky and happy as hell that he did what he did, leaving the luxury life at City to work his ass of in the shades of Anderlecht. Rumours say he will buy his way into the club even more (he already owns a small percentage of the club) and that one day he will be the Anderlecht-president. I can't see a better fit.
