I nabbed a pair of SEGA 60th Anniversary Sonic socks. They're really nice. This video definitely puts me a bit more at ease. I hope that whatever SEGA announces, I'm sure that it's at least going to be a *SE*rviceable *GA*me.
Remember how they rushed sonic 06 give them time to make. A good game the reason why forces was bad was because they spent majority of development on the engine and only a a few years on the game
Some don’t realize that if Sega isn’t giving us Sonic news, that just means we as the fans will get better products at the end, we don’t want another rushed mess like Sonic O6, and we don’t want weird messes of advertisements and toys that are rushed, let’s just give the time Sega needs for planning how the anniversary will play out and the development time for the products we will end up with, and if some say they should have already said or released anything, remember this is Sega’s biggest and most important franchise, they probably want to avoid any messes like the ones they have made in the past.
Honestly I’ve noticed on the new artwork that’s been shown the 3 rings art really has me interested because we have classic and modern sonic on the left and right but in the middle taking center stage is Dreamcast sonic I thought that was kinda interesting that Dreamcast sonic is taking center stage on that art normally it would be either modern and classic taking center stage
This is true. I mean. What would you have? A overhyped trailer that will have fans waiting for the new game. For example: game gonna come out in 2022 and fans will have struggle waiting. Or nothing. Fans are chill. A trailer will come out close to the games release date.
My main issue with this drought however is that we haven't had a good 3D Sonic game since Generations. People would've been more patient if the games we had these past years were good. I lost all my trust on Sonic Team. But i guess it's a different topic from the video...
I will say, if the next Sonic game once again turns out to not be good, even when they took their sweet time in making it, i'm abandoning this franchise.
Sega doesn't have the budget these days for a 'big' Sonic title.. That's why Forces and Team Sonic Racing were cheap. They were considered 'budget titles' Something like a new Sonic Adventure game would require a big budget, money Sega does not have. From what I hear, Sonic Team doesn't even exist anymore. The people that made the company great are gone now. 'Sonic Team' is really just a title for a small handful of developers.
@@chrismcrae932 games with very little budget can still be fantastic, look at all the indies games popping up lately. Meanwhile, we have games like Cyberpunk 2077 that even with all the budget of the world can become a trainwreck. Money isn't the main thing that can make it or break it, it's the passion made into the game.
don't forget the sonic and tails crossover in phantasy star online 2, which released in 2020 on microsoft store and steam. Sure it's not a sonic game, but sonic emotes, costumes, sonic hub, acessories and music is quite a lot for an anniversary.
It’s a simple question that takes no more than 2 seconds and 3 brain cells to answer. I’m so sick of sonictubers (premy) complaining about such a simple question. I will say that I’m very impressed with your research and your respectful response to this over asked question. Good job 👍
It actcally good things for Sega for take there time make new sonic games beacuse help sonic team focus more gameplay and developed characters property, bring back old stages from games
I could totally understand why Sega is keeping quiet about Sonic news, and this video definitely puts it in a far better perspective than I’ve seen anyone else do so. It’s just that it’s a shame and slightly frustrating after they promise to give Sonic news in 2020, then having those announcements (understandably) delayed because of covid, and then get basically *nothing* afterwards except complete radio silence. If Nintendo pulled the same thing with one of their big-name franchises, they’d practically be burned at the stake by their fans. But hey, as long as whatever they’ve got planned is worth the wait, then my complaints’ll be pretty much moot lol. Especially if we can actually get a great 3D/modern Sonic game again, being that Generations is almost *ten* years old at this point. Lordy, do I feel old-
I understand where you're coming from and actually do think this is a good video, and enjoy the perspective. So before I say anything else, I did indeed sub to you. I guess I'm just still a bit miffed, is all? I don't know, I'm not knowledgeable on marketing but I don't want a huge announcement to a triple A thing, no. I guess it's just mostly being burned out on Forces, skipping TSR because it didn't look that much different than ASRT, and just... Genuinely being worried about what a new game could bring to the table after Forces. I can't speak for anyone else, even if I understand the frustration, especially with the social media presence. It's not even as if I play Sonic games primarily anymore, and I'm busy with my own responsibilities. I think I just accepted that whatever happens happens and that I shouldn't concern myself with an announcement anymore, even if I wish we had a hint of a new thing announced last June. That being said some fans are... More antsy than me and I genuinely think it was kinda dumb to go into a Nintendo direct expecting a Sonic announcement. I just hope genuine concern for the future of the franchises games doesn't come across as entitlement. Just want to stay neutral until I see anything whenever it happens. Wouldn't mind to hear your thoughts, however.
Upon getting S0L to sign my copy of the DS version of All Stars Racing, he laughed and said he thought no one bought it. The director of the game was surprise to see someone had the handheld version. Let that sink in. Over saturation is a terrible thing.
I was actually there with you when that happened. He also said. "I've also never seen anyone with the Vita version!" I then laughed and handed him my copy for him to sign.
You remember the monthly update thing they started in February 2020? It was going to lead up to a new Sonic game announcement. Then a month later the pandemic happened and it screwed everything up. The announcements vanished and the game itself got delayed 1-2 years back just like most other AAA publishers games did. That's why it took so long to get an announcement
The only thing I can't put together is how they were going to announce the new game(s) in March 2020, but then that event got cancelled, and now it's almost April 2021 and we haven't heard anything.
I have my own theory. My theory is Sega are struggling with getting their business in order after the massive hit they took when they had to let 100's of employees go and give up most of their arcade stock. To top that off when you think about it, the Sonic franchise has not been the most profitable in recent years for Sega, with their Yakuza and partnership in developing Persona raking in more money. So from a business point of view they might not be putting their focus as much in the Sonic games until they know they can come up with an idea that works? I could be wrong but maybe some truth there as well?
All I know is, Jakks had better damn well give us an Amy Rose, Ray the Squirrel, and Rouge the Bat sooner or later! C'mon, people; the girls want recognition too!! #Giveusthegirls!
@@BuckarooBanzai84 Toy company Resaurus, Who made a line of Sonic Adventure figures back in 1999, (which go for ridiculous prices on ebay now) was going to make a Rouge the Bat figure to coincide with the release of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast wayyy back in 2001. Unfortunately the company went out of business before the figure could hit stores. =(
@@chrismcrae932 Thanks for the info. I remember the Resaurus Toys; I had several of them, (before they broke, being very fragile) but I never knew about the Rouge-figure. However, based on my own research; I discovered that Toy Island made a Rouge way back in 2005 as part of their 'Sonic X'-series, but it too goes on eBay for MINIMUM $200. (not to mention, it's out of scale with the Jakks -toys, so I wouldn't even bother.) Just a heads-up if you want to go for it. But again, thanks for the info! Gotta go fast! ;)
I think the one thing that bothers me about Sega's strategy with Sonic is that there is no indication of them trying to handle damage control surrounding the games sector of the franchise. Sonic Forces was unfortunately rushed due to a lack of direction and prioritizing a lighting engine over gameplay. It wasn't a game that felt like it had 4 years of polish and left many myself included desiring much more. I just think that if your most recent games are received as mediocre and worst than previous games, a company would try to ease the minds of their customers as soon as they can. With Sega, it's just silence and consumers just have to take their word that the next game will be better. It just irks me that this keeps happening with the series. I understand oversaturation can lead to divisive sales, but does that strategy also apply when products fail to live up to what was promised? I appreciate the marketing perspective though, I just wish it was handled differently because as a consumer it makes it more difficult to trust Sega right now. Guess I'll have to wait till the time is right. Just wanted to share my thoughts.
This was a great educational video. Also I like to point out that we've been saying sonic its dead since 2001... For 20 YEARS, just throwing that out there.
This is well put together, having the next Sonic game come out in 2022 to concede with Sonic Prime and Sonic Movie 2 will boost sales for the next game. Think about it We have not had a trailer for Sonic Prime and Sonic Movie 2 because Sega could show off the trailers for what ever They have planned for Sonic's 30th anniversary with a possible game revival at the end of the event. How Sega marketed Sonic back in the 90s during the Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive era help the brand, We got two Sonic cartoons running with The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog on weekdays and Sonic Satam airing on Saturday Mornings, there where two Comics in different regions of the world Archie Sonic for USA and Sonic the Comic in the UK and the Sonic 3 McDonald's Happy Meal Toys, those tie in products helped boost sales for Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Look at Nintendo, they announce a new mainline Mario game every console Generation, Nintendo would usually wait until the right time to announce that Mario game (usually E3) that grabs people's attention and aim for a Holiday release and gets it trending on Twitter, Nintendo will have tie in products to help concede with the game for EX McDonald's made Happy Meal Toys for Super Mario Bros. 3 and that'll help sales. Other than that You made very good points great job mate

This video definitely puts me a bit more at ease. I hope that whatever SEGA announces, I'm sure that it's at least going to be a *SE*rviceable *GA*me.
I didn't know some of the reasons you stated! It's a well made video in my opinion! You definitely need more subscribers!
Remember how they rushed sonic 06 give them time to make. A good game the reason why forces was bad was because they spent majority of development on the engine and only a a few years on the game
Umm actually Forces wasn't glitchy but it was still terrible for different reasons
It was…. Not great and not terrible
You really did a better job teaching me marketing than my college professor.
If oversaturation is such an issue than TH-cam needs to learn to stop shouting the same dang ad at my face for 7 months
the other reason is that they will reveal something in july or june and release it the next year like sonic mania
Man, too true. This video is a good reminder of just how hard marketing is without all the added issues attached.
Why's everyone freaking out it's just February!
Um its sonic's 30th anniversary? Duh
@@raptorzeraora2632 I know, but at least wait 'till late May or early June. This is Sega we're relying on here, after all.
13:43 I was not expecting to see Damon Hill
Funnily enough, the first version of Sonic Transformed I bought and played _was_ the Vita version. Very solid port.
Amazing video!
I'm pretty sure that were not going to be getting anymore Classic Sonic Games but instead Different Modern Sonic Games
Part of it probably has to do with the losses they’ve been dealing with. I’m concerened, too.
They were considered 'budget titles'
Something like a new Sonic Adventure game would require a big budget, money Sega does not have.
Mania had better 3D gameplay with a special stage hey didn't even have to make
The Pinball Party music in the background brings back memories.
Hype is honestly just deflating. We are just going towards the point where news would be viewed cynically instead of positively.
Fantastic vid, as always 😁💙
Sonic Rivals GANG
Brilliant video man!
don't forget the sonic and tails crossover in phantasy star online 2, which released in 2020 on microsoft store and steam.
Good job 👍
this can go for all games during this time so do not lose hope new games will be coming soon
The fact that I'm watching this after I found out Sonic Frontiers is coming soon.
*listens* So not marketing them correctly is just like the Star vs situation, except reversed: They lack it.
It actcally good things for Sega for take there time make new sonic games beacuse help sonic team focus more gameplay and developed characters property, bring back old stages from games
I do get that they aren’t ready but at least like a little something for the fans like “yeah games going great we will let ya know soon”
Lordy, do I feel old-
I "Bothered" with Racing Transformed on the Nintendo handheld. Think I returned it the very next day.
Meanwhile, Mario has something game related multiple times a year.
Stop comparing Sonic to Mario, we left the 90’s a long time ago
@@senorpato3587 So we can only compare them when it’s convenient?
@@bababobo5067 nope, you can still compare them, there is still some good intentions mario have sonic can take notes from.
@@TheRegularMuiGoku I wouldn’t say that.
@@bababobo5067 why? I mean, I didnt say they were still competitive right?
Even if they announce a new game, I don't think they will have time to release it by the 30th anniversary.
There is a lot of evidence pointing to 2021 being a bigger year for sonic which is totally fine for me, because I totally don't mind waiting.
KITTY!
@@BadnikMechanic I remember that, he was getting all the surprises that night!
Ristar fans have been waiting nearly 30 years for a new game.
Dr. Eggman released Coivd- 19 prove me wrong
Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Cream and Amy are the only ones with the cure...
@@Justin-Hill-1987 we leaking the new game plot
You remember the monthly update thing they started in February 2020? It was going to lead up to a new Sonic game announcement. Then a month later the pandemic happened and it screwed everything up. The announcements vanished and the game itself got delayed 1-2 years back just like most other AAA publishers games did. That's why it took so long to get an announcement
This is literally discussed at length in the video that you didn't watch.
The only thing I can't put together is how they were going to announce the new game(s) in March 2020, but then that event got cancelled, and now it's almost April 2021 and we haven't heard anything.
They never said they would announce any games in March 2020.
THANK YOU
TH-cam recommended this at the Right Time.
I really hope that either sega or hidden palace release the Tokyo toy show build of sonic 1 over the next year.
All I know is, Jakks had better damn well give us an Amy Rose, Ray the Squirrel, and Rouge the Bat sooner or later! C'mon, people; the girls want recognition too!! #Giveusthegirls!
Ray isn't a girl. But yes, Rouge is LONG overdue for a figure!
Blaze needs to come back
@@chrismcrae932 Yeah, I know. I should've been more clear. But I'm glad you agree!
Gotta go fast! ;)
I learned something from this video tho I wouldn't be annoyed if Sonic was the main focus of 2020 & this year that's just me
Lol yeah. Truth be told. I probably wouldnt be thay annoyed but... there may have been a few times i was like "I miss my Yakuza."
@@BadnikMechanic understandable I never played the series but the series is great too
Watch when the Sonic game is announced and everyone trash's on it before it's even out lol.
Great Video, keep it up man.
I’ve been waiting to long for a new paper boy game
This was a great educational video.
Also I like to point out that we've been saying sonic its dead since 2001...
For 20 YEARS, just throwing that out there.
More correctly 2006 is when sonic died
@@kingamour1583 nah, sonic boomers have said that hat sa2 was the last good sonic game back in the 2000's.
