Some good fishing there mate. Be careful camping in the boat like that, when I was up there last week I had a good size taipan try to joint me in the boat, at first it didn’t want to take no for an answer but I was able to guide it away with my lure retriever stick. Had I of been asleep in the boat with my swag open like I was a couple of hours earlier then things could have ended badly. I’ve been a snake handler/breeder for 25+ years and I’m not afraid to say it scared the crap out of me 😬 and I know what I’m doing, for someone with little to no experience or fear of snakes it could be a dangerous situation.
Bloody hell! Hard pass on a taipan 🫠 I’ve seen plenty of pythons up there lately but I’ve got no dramas if they come to say hi, taipans on the other hand… no thanks 😂 cheers for the heads up mate!!
@@fishinjosh yeah mate it was a wake up call for me, had a nap through the middle of the day only an hour or two beforehand, was tied up to a tree 50 metres off the bank, left the screens open on the swag to let more breeze in cos it was hot as balls, let’s just say I kept the screens closed for all naps after the snake encounter….as experienced as I am I don’t want to be caught in a confined space with one of those things on a hot day….
Great stuff mate! Gotta love how bloody fat those Dam Donkeys are! Those days with no wind, sight casting the weed beds is definitely up there when conditions are like you had in this drop! Gotta love a Molix for the Ponds, always produce the goods! 🔥👍🏽
Cheers mate! There’s so much food in there for them at the moment so they’re definitely not missing any meals that’s for sure haha. Mondy doesn’t get the super clear water to sight cast in unfortunately but it’s great fun in the right dams 🙌🏽 the Molix slay! Have you fish the 120’s yet or just the big fellas?
Just the big fellas in the Molix range, but use 120’s of different Brands that work well, Hard Bodies in the fresh I normally use what you are and the Jackal Hank Tunes 79s silent or 115s. If I find the fish I’ll sit on them and cast from big Molix and if that doesn’t get a bite, I generally have 3 or 4 Rods setup and go from largest down to Lures down to 2inch if need be, just that in itself can excite them enough to eat. I’m no Barra expert by all means but from what I’ve seen and been told, and do my own thing based on that, always learning and trying new stuff all the time. I also upgrade splits n Trebs, still have same action and sink/suspend/ float, just so you can lean on them if need be! Rip into them mate! 🎣👍🏽
Thanks mate! That fury punches well about it weight value wise. We don’t get too many spin rods in Aus that suit throwing those bigger plastics like that thing does!
Yeah, Its a decent rod. Here in the US we are spoiled with many USDM and JDM options. I am surprised that we can purchase JDM without having to pay taxes here in the US and others have to pay crazy import taxes. @@fishinjosh
Bloody oath man! Will definitely be using them more 👌🏼 surprisingly not, they were bad with lights on outside the tarp but they didn’t bother me when I was tucked away in the boat
Thanks mate, I decided to jump in and have a swim to test it last time I was at the dam. It must be substantially quieter than sidescan, I couldn’t hear anything under the water
@@fishinjosh yeah only reason I know is cos I watched a video the other week and the bloke compared the two out of the water and you could clearly hear them clicking….I run the lvs32 and haven’t heard it putting my ear to the hull, can hear sidescan ticking by doing this. I haven’t seen any signs of fish (Barra) shying away from it, possibly over time some of them could learn it’s associated with danger and try to avoid it. Is that a 953xsv you’re running?
@@Alan_lay yer I’m yet to see fish shying away from the ticking but my thinking is that fish don’t get big by being dumb so the less noise you can make, especially noise they might relate to a bad experience like being caught can’t hurt! The scope screen is an 8410
@@fishinjosh ok cool, so it’s the 10”, thought it looked like the 9”, always hard to tell the size on video, I’m running the 10” echomap and I’m tossing up whether I should get another echomap or a gpsmap for a dedicated livescope screen. Leaning towards another echomap so they can talk to each other.
@fishinjosh Incidentally that first point ya fished where the yak fisho was, last trip (October moon) I pulled 4 metre class fish off that point on the first night and another couple in the morning, got another 12 or so metre class on the last afternoon I was there, when I started there I had it to myself and after catching 3-4 fish I ended up with around 15 boats tightly packed around me, despite all the noise going on from leccies and sounders etc I still continued to catch fish and only one other boat that was about 50 metres away caught fish. Coincidentally I also fished that same spot you fished towards the end where you got that fish on the pointer, I spent 2 nights up there for 6 metre class, a couple of 90’s and maybe 15 60-70 class fish….was one of my best trips to Mondy.
Thanks man! I actually made that up with a mate of mine, there was a few specific things I needed the mount to do so I could still put my travel cover on so needed something custom.
@fishinjosh thanks for that mate ill make one up! I'm thinking about making something that stands at about waist height and then folds flat so I can get a boat cover on too! Cheers!
There’s a few reasons mate. It’s much easier to tie leader knots with than hard fluoro, its got great abrasion resistance for if you get big fish that swallow lures and being mono it doesn’t sink like fluorocarbon so when fishing jerkbaits it helps them to suspend.
Running a Supercharge Seamaster MFM70 as a house battery, that runs my solix, scope set up and lights. Then have a 120ah AGM deep cycle for the electric motor. The deep cycle I can normally get a couple of days out of depending on wind and current and the house battery gets charged whenever I run the outboard so I very rarely have to charge that externally unless I know I’m doing minimum running and big days fishing
Stretcher on the boat is straight up luxury!
The game has been changed haha

In answer to your question, yes livescope ducer dose make noise like any other ducer, lvs 34 is louder than lvs32.
