So it said in the article that they “match the description” of some robbers. 9 times out of 10 when they find someone that “matches the description” they’re going to stop them and want to question them. That doesn’t mean he was a part of anything. He ran away because he had a pellet gun so obviously at the ripe age of 13, knowing right from wrong, you are going to run because you’re scared to get in trouble. Let’s also not forget that your frontal lobe which is in charge of decision making doesn’t fully develop until 25. Crowds should be protesting outside the parents home and demanding answers from them, not the city. Blame the parents, the police were justified in shooting an individual who pulls a gun while being detained. I think we should clarify that it wasn't a toy gun but a REPLICA.
There is no proof he robbed anyone. He actually complied at first and only ran away when they wanted to do a pat down (most likely because he had a BB gun)

When a kid in the late night hours has gun, real or pellet, is asking to get shot. When police are being shot almost daily, why wouldn't they take this step. Why were those kids not at home? Nothing good comes from being out late at night.

Police officers met a young man with a weapon. They don't have time to negotiate about whether it's a replica or a real gun. The cops are probably pretty upset. But I don't blame them.
Blame the kid. Put the parents in jail.
Ignoring the fact that he was 13 years old, what did he expect to happen when he pulled out a fake gun and pointed it at the officers. Was he going to go “pow pow” and then the cops run away in fear?
People focus way too much on his age. He was 13, not 6. Not quite an adult legally, but more than capable of understanding that you dont point replicas or toy guns at police. If you dont know that by the time youre 13, i doubt youll be a functioning adult at 18 or 21 either. Its all for the best. Imagine the dum b things he wouldve done as an adult.

I saw the body cam video, and as tragic as this is, the kid was in the wrong. It’s almost guaranteed the law supports the actions of the police.
As for the officers, knowing how things usually goes, the one that fired the shot will be marked as unlucky by most of his dept and the blue community overall. It sounds stupid given the nature of the job, but there is a stigma attached to these incidents within LEO circles, no matter how justified it may be. If that officer is not smart enough to navigate that or have the right connections to back him up, it will impact his career. If push comes to shove, he may even be politically sacrificed too.
Don't blame on police. That kids does have a gun. We can see on the video clearly.

Family doesn't want to take responsibility for the fact that their child pointed a gun at a cop smh. It's not like the kid pulled out a cell phone and the cop thought it was a gun and he shot him. He CLEARLY seen that it was a gun and it became a matter of its either you or me. Was he supposed to wait and see if he got shot in the face before taking action to protect himself? And I understand that regardless of why it happened, that the family is grieving the loss of their child. I am from Myanmar, I would blame parents to let this kid get the fake gun first and not teaching well how America is so dangerous to carry a real/fake gun around. It's not officer's fault. They were investigating, he run, he became a suspect, he pointed the fake gun and he was shot. The whole scene is obvious the officers were defending themselves or they would die like former cases. Sorry for this kid. This family doesn't represent our country. Not blaming victims but the kid was dead because of carelessness and not well educated.

The officer clearly asked " Do you have any weapons?"..The " kid" who talks the talk and runs the walk...13 or not he was presenting an image of himself and he lost.Thank God no innocent people were injured.
Kid did armed robberies with a realistic looking gun, ran from police and pointed the gun at them and then struggled with the cops over the gun on the ground. All indisputable facts; most of which of are on the video. These people are delusional!! I understand the mother not being able to accept facts, but others are using this incident for their own political advantage.
