I've been an Ozzy fan for 45 years or more! Yeah I remember those days! Can't believe I'm actually leaving a comment on your TH-cam channel! Awesome!!! I'm disabled, arms and hands messed up a little, but I'm trying to learn the Lap Steel Guitar. Wanna be my teacher!? Now THAT would be a life changing moment for me!!! Rock on bro!

Yes Sir! Thanks to Ozzy for introducing you to the rest of the world, I thought you were a perfect fit went and saw you live in Ottawa Canada with Ozzy, then because I became a Gus G super fan I discovered Firewind which I totally loved and was able to see you live in Ottawa as well with Firewind. That show was absolutely mind blowing, to this day in my top 3 shows ever.
I picked up your instructional video to better my playing and you were offerring private guitar lessons during that tour with Firewind and was so close to booking a lesson. Still regret not taking that opportunity. Love your guitar style! 🤘

Gus G is an amazing player. Had the opportunity to see him live with Firewind in January of the past year. After their show, the other band was playing and suddenly Gus G himself passed right between us several times in between the crowd. He was just another person like everyone else. That gives such a good impression to me since a master musician like him shows you that he’s just another person like you are. Therefore, practice and dedication can bring you to your goals. That also motivates me as a guitarist. That is so rare to see. Many other musicians’ way below Gus's level act like superstars and they really are not. Gus is an example of professionalism, a good and respectful person with a good music taste. Melodies, shred, chugs, powerful riffs, bursting solos… Gus has it all!
So underrated... Guitarists like you not just deserve the fame you already have but a lot a lot more.
    Keep it up.
PD: Loved the new song “Salvation Day”

I found this album in 2018 being complete normie who never listened to metal and it literally changed my life. Thanks to you I started playing guitar and listening to firewind helped me get through hard times. Hard to imagine how different my life would be if that didn't happen. Truly butterfly effect

Gus. Your playing on the Scream album lit a fire under his ass. "I Want It More" is honestly one of my favorite Ozzy songs outside of the Randy and Jake stuff. I've never really liked Zakk that much but he had his moments. Randy is my idol and I DEFINITELY feel you have some "Randy" in your playing. And that is a serious compliment my friend. I love your solo instrumental stuff as well but you should know I FINALLY replaced your KICKASS intro riff to "I Want It More" with the "afterbirth" solo by Randy on "Mr. Crowley " as my wake up alarm and ring tone! And imho THAT solo is the greatest lead break in metal history . I love your work with Ozzy and lament the fact you only got to play on "Scream." And in closing PLEASE keep doing solo instrumental albums!

Hi Gus! I was listening to Ozzy and Zakk Wylde in that time and both Ozzy's and Black Label Society albums sounded pretty much the same, but when you started playing with Ozzy, that album is different. I like to hear something new and different in every album of an artist and I think that you are as great as any of Ozzy's guitarists (Iommi, Randy, Jake E Lee or Zakk)
Back in 2012, I came to see Ozzy and Friends concert in Belgrade, Serbia, and that was a festival with amazing bands (like Black Label Society and the Cult) and in one moment there were Zakk, Slash, Geezer and you on stage playing Sabbath songs with Ozzy and you were amazing. Slash and Zakk are icons but you were on the next level player much better than both of them and it was clear why you were Ozzy's new guitar player. He could chose anyone and he found the best guitar player for the new Ozzy sound, new guitar legend. 👍

I have your signature guitars. Both the Jackson random star as well as the purple painting/shattered glass ESP/LTD. Sadly one one is signed. You need to sign the old one next time you're in Denmark :) I spoke with Bob when you were here with FW but missed you on the floor.

Thanks for these insights, Gus ! I loved the bit about the talk box and 'Soul Sucker'! I wish I had seen one of your early shows with Ozzy, where you did a solo part with a talk box, too. I really enjoyed seeing these vids online! \m/
I saw a few of the German Ozzy dates 2011-2012 in person, and my most favourite show by far was your performace @ the Wacken 2011. You all were even more on fire than usual and it was one of the gigs you never forget! I still wish there were a proper live DVD of Ozzy with you on guitars. You shred so hard. Songs like 'Bark at the Moon' were the best when you played them...
As for since when had I heard of you... I saw you shredding in Hamburg in Nightrage with Necrophagist, Malevolent Creation and Bolt Thrower 2006 and followed you since. You need to play more Death Metal, again ;). Cheers

I saw you guys in Stockholm on the scream tour and it was a phenomenal gig. I’ve never seen the band that ‘alive’ and Ozzy was in such a great shape, it’s still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The OZ-TV episodes on TH-cam showed that the band(you, Adam, Tommy and old man Blasko) had great chemistry! Being a huge Zakk Wylde fan, I was a bit surprised and bummed when they announced that him and Ozzy are going separate ways. It was after the Black Rain album(which to be honest, wasn’t Ozzys finest work) and somewhere around the time when Zakk had the bloodclot thing going on. The hesitation I had against the ‘new guy’ was completely unnecessary as I heard the album. Blown away. Phenomenal work and still to this day ‘spins’ on my smartphone at least once a month. Thank you Gus!

Thanks for sharing this with us! I had only heard a few Firewind tracks before the album with Ozzy happened. I absolutely loved Scream album front to back. It was different, exciting and new. Highlights for me are “I Want It More”, “Diggin’ Me Down”, “Latimer’s Mercy”, and “Hand of the Enemy”.
I was lucky enough to see the Scream tour on Ozzy’s birthday in 2010, I think it was in New Jersey. It’s one of my favorite tour memories because you and the guys got Ozz to change his set list up a bit! Some obscure tracks, especially Jake era, were added to the set. It was phenomenal.
I’ve been a fan of yours ever since.

Hey Gus thanks for sharing. I first heard about you through Ozzy. I was only playing flamenco guitar during that time and had seen Ozzy with Jake at the Texas Jam in 84, so I wasn't really into metal as much when you joined Ozzy. The only reason I went to the show (Tacoma Dome 2011) was to see you play live and my wife had never been to a metal concert before. Seeing you play live was a turning point for me as a guitarist and an artist. Great show and I'll forever cite you as one of my greatest influences. I hope all the best for you with your continued music career and as an artist at the highest level. Peace my friend!!!

Hi Gus!! I first heard about you a few years before the Scream album. At that time, my three fav artists/bands were Ozzy, Black Label Society and Firewind actually. Haha. I remember Zakk being my fav guitarist and when I learned that he's no longer a part of Ozzys band, I got quite pissed. But then I learned that YOU took that place after him, and Firewind being one of my fav bands, I was like "Ok. Gus is the only acceptable replacement of Zakk for me." :D I have a question. Who initially wrote the guitar parts for the Scream? Was it Zakk? Cheers from Sweden!

To answer your question: I found out about you through work. Back in 2007, I worked at Sam Ash in Orlando, FL. We used to play this ESP Guitars promo dvd we had that showed artist interviews and music videos and stuff. On that dvd was Firewind's video for "Falling to Pieces". I loved the guitar you had in that video and later saw your signature model in our ESP catalog - the black cherry guitar with a Floyd Rose, which was right up my alley for what I wanted in a guitar. I searched for Firewind after work and got hooked from there. I also bought that guitar some time later (which you signed at opening night for the Frets of Fury tour 2011).
2009, I saw an article from some guitar or metal music publication (can't remember which one) about how you were going to play Blizzcon with Ozzy. I don't know why I did this, but I completely fanboyed all over that article. "Fuck yeeeesssss!!!", I screamed. "Homeboy's gonna get that job full time! He just doesn't know it yet." I was beyond proud of you, man. I later watched that full show on TH-cam when it was available and boy, you nailed it. I was a little bummed that you didn't have your own signature guitars for the show, but I figured you couldn't get them halfway around the world in time and used some loaners from ESP instead. I later got to see you play with Ozzy in February 2011. You owned it! It was my first time to see both you and Ozzy live. That was a glorious night!
When I briefly played in a local Ozzy tribute band, I dressed up as you and used that same Gus600FR you signed as well as my Gus600EC.
Congrats on 12 years of Scream and being able to be a legit career musician! You rule, man.

Well, actually funny enough i did not find out about you through Ozzy or Firewind but through ESP. Back in 2013/2014 , (i was around 20 years old), i started saving money so that i could eventually buy myself a high end ESP model. And i wanted this ESP to be a star shaped. Unfortunately (as you probably already know) star shaped ESPs are pretty rare here in Europe (im from France) not to say completely impossible to find. Back then, the only models i could find (and that were somehow obtainable in Europe) were yours (i remember trying out one that was equipped with a floyd, pretty rare stuff now that i think about it, not many of those were made). Take care gus and keep rockin \m/

This was a truly beautiful video, Gus. Loved your comment about this album.
I really liked the album; I still pretty much do, soul sucker is probably my favorite song in there, great riff, really heavy.
But there are many great songs, let it die, LMHYS, life wont wait, crucify.
THe only sad thing about it is the album didn't had much live-play, it deserves it.

I got the album and was blown away, it's some of heaviest shit Ozzy has ever put out and your work on it is AWESOME. Hi Gus! I first discovered you on a century media covers album in 2008 with Firewind covering Nevermore's believe in nothing. With my brother being a Nevermore fan, I thought it was pretty cool you covered them! I then went on TH-cam and one of the first Firewind music videos I watched were mercenary man and I am the anger! At that moment, I had to get your discography! At that time I also discovered your other bands Dream Evil, Nightrage & Mystic Prophecy. Which I also have those discs and am a fan of those groups as well. I have a lot of autographed memorabilia from You and Firewind! A personal signed thank you poster from Bob's Katsionis rest in keys album to ending up unknowingly ordering a Firewind: insanity tshirt on ebay from none other than Mark Cross:) I even tried to win the Jackson guitar giveaway you did around Christmas 2020, but was off from getting picked by only a few seconds. I was also really excited to get my hands on a limited splatter vinyl copy of the self titled Firewind album a couple of years ago. Sorry for the long message but such a fan & once you said how we discovered you, I had to comment!

I first heard of Gus when I bought "Regressus" by Mystic Prophecy back in '03. Had listened to "Eternal Flame" which was a track from a Metal Hammer disc, thought it was a great song and so happened to get the album soon after that. Eventually I noticed that the lead guitar player is kicking ass and I later bought an album of Dream Evil just because Gus was in it. Superb guitar player for sure!

I found out about you (Firewind) in 2004 but not sure how. Then in 2005 I found out about Nightrage. After that I was a fan of all the other bands you were in. You are a part of my childhood. I'm 33 now. In 2004 I was 15 years old and still listening to Between Heaven and Hell. Thanks for the music. If I have kids one day I will pass your music on to them!

Very humbling and great video. I learned about you much later after this album surprisingly. Of course I heard songs from the album but I first heard of you from hype on TH-cam of Gus G., Ozzy guitarist. I was like what? Who is Gus G? And then it started. I have been listening to Firewind and Mystic Prophecy. I must have been in between Ozzy albums since he has transitioned so many times with different albums so I really missed Scream in it's entirety. Just being honest. I am going to listen to it fully because I am sure it is great. Just know that your songs like Rising Fire to Oceans to Wall of Sound are Great Songs! Keep up the great work!

Hey Gus, I learned about you by searching for Greek power metal music. It's been fun to learn that you once played with Ozzy's band.
I've been on a journey of blending my American rock/metal and Greek folk music heritages and thankfully discovered the Greek power metal music scene with bands like yours, Firewind. Greek festivals in America seem to focus on a nostalgic version of Greek heritage. Maybe one day you will play at some of the Greek festivals in America.🤘on!

First time I got to know about You was through ESP website, when You were endorsing some pointy guitars during Firewind years. Then You got a very cool Eclipse signature during Ozzy years and I started to listen Your work with him . I remember, I was a bit dissapointed when they anounced that Zakk is back on lead guitar... because i don't like his "over-pinching" style .

Hey Gus, I heard about you when I read that you were Ozzy's new guitar player and it was probably in Guitar World magazine. I loved the song Let Me Hear You Scream but I didn't buy the album then (I was stupid for not buying it) Anyway, I have been following you for a few years now, bought the Scream CD, that is awesome, and bought 3 of your solo albums. I really hope that you keep making instrumental guitar albums as I would rather hear them than having a singer. I absolutely love the 3 solo albums and Quantum Leap is amazing. From the posts on here and interviews I've seen, you seem like a great guy. I hope that you will keep your fans updated on any new music. I'll definitely be buying it! Hope all is well with you.

Gus's lead guitar work was better with Dream Evil and currently Firewind. It's almost like on the Ozzy album that he was playing in a box and the formula the producer expected could not be altered.

Gus, I went to my first BlizzCon in 2009 not knowing when we bought the tickets that Ozzy was going to be the band for the event. When I found out I was so happy and was happy to see your first show with him. I believe Jake E Lee first show was the US Festival in 1983 and I seen that show as well. I was still in high school back then and still cannot believe my mother let me go to that with 4 other friends in a Datsun B-210 coupe. After that show where Van Halen headlined we got stuck in the line of cars to leave and did not leave that place until the sun came up. Oh, when we were going into the venue we were part of the hugest food fight I have ever been involved in! Good Times!!!

I grew up on Ozzy. Bob Daisley on the first few albums was a huge influence on me as a bassist. I knew of you from Firewind and was very curious on how you would translate to Ozzy. I think it was a great album. I did see you on the tour when it came through Dallas TX and can honestly say that it was one of the Best Shows i've seen. Not blowing smoke or anything, It was just a fantastic show and you were amazing! i ended up buying your guitar dvd and have since been proving to myself daily that i in-fact suck.... :)

Answer: No I was into Firewind before you joined Ozzy (and great stuff by the way and still is). When a friend of mine and I first heard that the Ozzy camp had found an "unknown" shredder from Greece to join his band we were thinking of Theodore Ziras. We were like Gus G has to be known in the rock and heavy metal circles around the globe. Ozzy chose wisely and you are a great player. Keep up the good work Gus.

Okay so, I was on a mission to buy as many ozzy albums as possible on cd. And I found this store call electric underground. So I was browsing through the cds and saw I think it was black rain bark at the moon and scream and I was like ok black rain should be good bark at the moon duh and scream yeah probably pretty shitty haha. I heard like 45 seconds of the first song on scream I was like " who the fuck is that guitar player!!!" That's insane. And I still can't believe you only had one album with Ozzy but man was it badass.

saying the same I said on FB lol - I always loved Scream, it is one of my favorite Ozzy albums and I loved Ozzy from the beginning. I always thought you were just a hired gun on that, with no creative input. Now it makes more sense as to why I loved it so much, after seeing this! I always loved that acoustic intro and that album truly moved me. I first saw you while watching Blizzcon and then live at Ozzfest and have been a huge fan ever since. Best Ozzy line-up ever for me, best guitarist out there in my opinion. I love Ozzy, but for me, it will never get as great as it was while you were with him.

First found out about Firewind when a mate asked me to go and watch Kamelot at the Wulfrun Hall on their forever slave tour in 2008 and you guys were supporting. Your playing and the whole band performance blew me away and I was an avid fan from that point on. Next time I saw you was at hrh 2 In wales. Our band was sat next to firewind doing radio interviews at the same time. Small world!!

First, I wanted to say I first discovered you from your first Firewind album back in the day because I was a huge Leviathan Records fan and when that album came out it blew my mind. For me it was like discovering Yngwie for the first time. I have showed so many of my friends, family and co-workers you music.
I also purchased all of your work with Dream Evil and Mystic Prophecy because you became my favorite guitarist and still are to this day.
Thanks for doing this video I didn’t realize how important it was to your career. Dog gin’ Me Down was like a mix of Diary of a Mad Man and Killer of Giants. I really wanted so badly for you to get another full length album and be able to contribute to the songwriting because you mixed elements of Jake and Randy with your own touch so well I knew that the next record could have been epic. It unfortunately never happened but at least you got to have that amazing experience.
