I don't understand all the trolling on Gus; he played the Jake solo flawlessly and his own lead over the outro vamp was absolutely killing! I think some of you need to get over your emotional attachments to the Ozzy guitarists of days past.
@Dave Fitzgerald Hahaha - "FACTS aren't trolling." I didn't realize opinions of musicianship are hard, provable scientific data. Psssh (ps - where's video of you playing guitar?)
@@rebeccaperks4458 your comment made me wonder "what kind of virtuoso superstar would so flippantly dismiss a guitarist of Gus's caliber?" and went to your page to check out your work. Yep, nothing there. Trolls never have anything to show.
Gus isn't a bad guitarist. Unfortunately, he is expected by many to be another Randy type clone, which is probably not going to happen. He's not my favorite, but I like him in Ozzy opposed to Zakk. History dictates that Ozzy changes guitarists every so often, so I'll enjoy Gus while he pays his dues.
Gus G. (Kostas Karamitroudis) is a real nice guy, and an excellent metal guitar player! I have his other band's CD's (FIREWIND), and it truly is great stuff! The man has chops and feel too!
+AudiophileTubes really I know about firewind I bought the cd DVD pack but I'm not into that much European music I listen but sometimes it seems like they have their own music medium outside of rock,,to me it's really different, the farthest I ever went was Arch Enemy..I really love them..
+AudiophileTubes Euro metal has been shitting on American metal for 30 years now. American metal is shit on average. Helloween, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, the whole god damn Swedish Death Metal scene, German Power metal. They do it better than Americans and have for years. Hell Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are English bands. That should say everything right there. Motorhead, Saxon, UDO, Accept.....all Euro. Fuck American metal.
+James Nagel Agreed. Even Japanese metal was great (Loudness, EZO, etc.). There are some great U.S. hard rock/metal guitar players though... Buck Dharma, Ace Frehley, the guys from Queensryche and Aerosmith, Jake E. Lee, Randy Rhoads, Warren DeMartini, Reb Beach, Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch, John Petrucci, etc. Dokken was excellent, back in the day. As was Ratt. Dream Theatre. But you're right... no match for Euro hard rock and metal.
I was at this performance. I don't give a shit if Randy, Zakk, or Gus G is the best for Ozzy. They're all fantastic. I'm tired of everyone complaining. OZZY FOREVER
My list of Ozzy's best guitarists; Randy, Jake, Gus, Zakk. I gave Jake second because he was a more than acceptable replacement for Randy and Gus got third because he's like a mix of Randy and Jake. Zakk's a monster on guitar, but he's a one-trick pony; southern rock with pinch harmonics. Not taking away from Zakk's ability as he's a far better guitarist than i am, but Gus is closer to the classic Ozzy than Zakk ever was.
James Yates I have a difficult time ranking Iommi as he isn't nearly as technically skilled as any of Ozzy's subsequent guitarists, but he helped lay the groundwork for heavy metal and is one of the most influential guitarists of all time.
RaderizDorret Agreed, I'd put him between Jake and Gus because he was a great guitar player for his era and inspired a lot but wasn't near Randy and Jake's technical abilities. I'd also put Zakk over Gus only because he does what he does well and he also influenced many guitarists.
What about Brad Gillis? He was on Speak Of The Devil.Thats a live album.Play that album,cd,cassette, whatever, play it loud.He was great. He left Ozzy for Night Ranger. That was a mistake.
I've heard him on Speak of the Devil and Night Ranger's Dawn Patrol. He's tough to place. Here's my list Randy, Jake, Tony, Joe Holmes, Zakk, Brad, Gus G, and Bernie Torme.
One thing Gus brought is the capability and willingness to play these songs. ( Ultimate Sin era). He didnt bring an issue that Ozzy should only play this song and this song. This is the best mix of Ozzy songs in a long time. True Ozzy has his " classic albums" but every album/era has some GREAT songs on them. He didnt write any of the songs on the album but lets see what Ozzy/Gus team can bring to the table next album.
Who the heck cares about the gut? He is 62 people! The guy is amazing, still rocking and going strong! I was in that show, absolutely awesome!!! If I had a bucket list it would have been more than complete, I saw Ozzy!!!!
Randy and Jake...imo best two guitarist Ozzy has employed. Based on their technical abilities, knowledge and application of music theory, song writing, dynamics , phrasing and stage presence. Jake owned this song and Ultimate Sin recording. I miss JAKE!!!
@ChrisRinaldiMusic You're totally right. I'm the biggest Zakk Wylde fan you'll ever talk to. I think he matured past the point where he was contributing anything to the Ozzy stuff. I love Zakk but I'm glad Ozzy got Gus G. It was a shot in the arm his sound needed. Plus Zakk can concentrate totally on the awesome BLS stuff and it'll be that much better. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing work Ozzy and Zakk did together. That'll live on forever.
Zakk Wylde is hands down the best live player, and arguably the best guitar player to play in Ozzy's band. He replaced a legend, created his own sound and resurrected Ozzy's career during the grunge 90's. He has the best tone and all around talent imo. No disrespect to Randy, Jake, Gus or the guy from Night Ranger. : D
***** Wow, a little testy today BG? I play guitar, so of course I've heard of Dimebag. I was talking about Ozzy guitar players, not All guitar players. It's all opinion anyway, and judging from your username and comment, we all know yours. Relax, have a Great Day and crank that Pantera!!!
Brad Gillis did a TREMENDOUS job stepping into a very difficult position at an extremely difficult time for the band. He had the ability and the respect to approach Randy's parts the way they need to be played. He usually doesn't get the credit he deserves for his time with Ozzy.
@Avianca1000 Actually the Blackstar amp is a very good amp for his style, besides hes been using them for a very long time so its the brand he trust and knows.
I notice Ozzy makes his band tune down an entire step these days..which makes the songs sound different to me...just not the same when u are used to hearing it in a different key. Apparently Im the only 1 noticing that..Havent read another comment mentioning that fact
Plus everyone is gonna have there fav that does not make them the best thats why it's called music you like what you like and you tend to lean toward that but does that make your choice the best no but in your mind it does .
Gus G is pretty good and different from all the others but you can't hear him, he's drowned out by everyone else in the mix. Ozzy is sounding pretty toast, voice is shot. Sure would be nice if he could take 20 years off his clock. He was epic back then.
Just wanted to say I watched a video on here of Gus talking about playing with Ozzy and he himself said that he prefers to play the songs a little different. Probably trying to put his mark on the songs.
@valerioslee I know. I was just joking because I know Alexi Laiho loves Ozzy and Randy Rhoads...and specially zakk wylde and he wouldn't turned it down either.
Ragardless, Speak of the devil is prob my fav live album, over live and loud. Think about it from Brad's perspective. This wasn't today, where even I know how to rudimentary ish play all of ozzy's hits, brad came when ozzy wasn't what he is today, but sabbath was classic, Ya people like Zakk, gus, and joe holmes probably knew every ozzy song before they got the call, but the times were different.
My point exactly. Kirk Hammet isn't qualified to tune the likes of Batop, Petrucci, Lifeson,Lee, G , Wylde, John 5, Yngwie etc....but he has made some of the best metal licks and solos. Technically speaking Mr. Lee is almost untouchable, even by Zakk standards, but Randy has made some of the best riffs and songs. Everything Wylde sounds the same, Gus G is just a robot, but Randy and Lee's shit is unique yet identifiable.
What about Bernie Torme? He was Ian Gillan's guitarist and took over the rest of the tour after Randy died. Its also unfair to compare Randy he was innovating, Jake and the other metal players of that era were building off what Randy had done. Your list makes me certain you never saw Randy live he was a monster. Randy is #1 and I say that even though Jake was my favorite.
..... anybody whos good enough to play for Ozzy is a great guitar player... all different styles but all good. don't forget .....The prince of darkness chose each and every one of them to play with him... if he chose me... i would'nt give a FUCK what people think because i'd be the one on stage plating with THE MADMAN... OZZY RULES.
I saw Ozzy at Ozzfest 2007, and Zakk was definitely the best part of the show (Ozzy was his usual fried self). At the same time, I've seen Firewind, and Gus G can shred face with the best of them. My conclusion: the whole Zakk vs. Gus G debate is retarded and we should just shut the hell up and rock out. \m/
Maybe Ozzy will take some of his latest earnings and finally settle up with Bob & Lee on the 1st two albums and give them the money his wife & her dad stole from the song writers.
he only played on a couple tours and didnt even record anything with him. infact the first couple shows of the first tour he did they only played 2 or 3 ozzy songs and the rest sabbath songs because he didnt know any ozzy and it was such short notice
That's the clip im talking about ..no different than anything paul gilbert has done , or marty friedman so did you look at anton oparin or zakk wyldes latest solo ????
Randy was soooooooo much better live than anyone else. In concert, no other player can match him. Playing is more than technical fingerings and speed picking. It is about feel and improvisational fills and energy. These kids since RR died, they don't get it.
I'm sorry this band doesn't compare to the Ozzfest 2000 line up of JOE HOLMES - GUITAR Robert Trujillo: bass Brian Tichy: drums Joe Holmes is the best guitar player since Randy, Robert is a bass god.and Brian: Is one of the hardest hitting drummers out there. I don't understand all the trolling on Gus; he played the Jake solo flawlessly and his own lead over the outro vamp was absolutely killing! I think some of you need to get over your emotional attachments to the Ozzy guitarists of days past.
Cause Jake sold his soul to both tap and picking so harmoniously that the angles themselves would weep.
@Dave Fitzgerald Hahaha - "FACTS aren't trolling." I didn't realize opinions of musicianship are hard, provable scientific data. Psssh (ps - where's video of you playing guitar?)
@Dave Fitzgerald I recommend you check out some old Firewind stuff...Dude CAN write great songs.

Wow!! Ozzy never lets you down. Where does he find these genius guitar players? Stunning craft.
ozzy is a genius
Good Theory.
In hell
Managers may be.
The only thing he changes more than guitarists, mike stands.

Insanely good and probably highly underrated. Don't see enough of Gus. Amazingly melodic as well as technically amazing.
He's right, never let us down and always picked great guitarists
if you listen to some of his firewind stuff it is much more technical and fast than his ozzy stuff, he is truly an amazing guitarist
Gus G φοβερός όπως πάντα. Νομίζω το 11 σε είδα live για πρώτη φορά με τους Scorpions.
Hell yeah Gus G 🤘🤘great riffs
Glad to see that he actually played the intro harmonics, and not use pre-recorded tracks.

Why does the drummer point to the sky all the time?!?!?
its a human lighting rod
It's called stage presence, he doesn't want to just sit there looking bored out of his mind so he does everything he can to entertain the fans
Randy S worst drummer of all time.
Note I do not hate the drummer. Just kinda pointless to.....point all the time.
Erik Fraunfelter rock n roll Jesus
All I can think about is Michael Starr's impression of Ozzy and how spot on he is with it
Ozzy is the man!
That is your opinion. Jake is my fav. His technical skill is great, so is his attitude.
I love the Leg Lift. Ozzy, hire this kid.
Gus is a real guitarist, bad ass, did his homework
he sounds like he is practicing all the time and never really shows off!
he is too nice and clean for my taste!
gus g, all the money!!!
Dude on guitar is killer
Gus G. Check out FireWind.
Cool 💯😎 Salute
Now that red one I like! Either a v or like that custom awesome.

Gus g is defenatelly closer to Randy's playing style imho,i love ALL ozzy's guitarists and cant compare em!they are all gr8!
I think Brad Gillis done a great job with Ozzy.
hell yeah dude!! Doug is badass and would be a great fit for ozzy...totally agree with you!!!
Sometimes I listen to Dairy Of A Madman just to remain grounded in the magic.

@crush927 what did eddie say about ozzy , that he cant sing anymore
gus g>wylde
@Area69ca really good musicians actually the bass player is blasko from rob zombie
a bass machine!
Jake was/is a monster. He just stopped doing anything that people would hear.Last i heard hes in vegas
Is this at the Richfield?
This is at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

@CTROCK an ok solo??? i'd like to see you play half that shit...gus is amazing. You had to be there
Nobody ever talks about the drummer :)))

GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Gus é competente, não traz nada de novo, mas é competente. Muito melhor para uma 'entre safra' do que brad gills ou joe holmes se mostraram.

Thanks 👍🔥🔥both are amazing anyways so...
hes useing them all the miced ones are for the stage speakers.
Maybe Ozzy will take some of his latest earnings and finally settle up with Bob & Lee on the 1st two albums and give them the money his wife & her dad stole from the song writers.
That's the dark side of this businessmen
thanks dougerber
GUS G !!! SALONICA RULES........
@MrBarnett420 Funny how you had to use Firewind to prove your point and nothing from his album with Ozzy.
@misterimson Sharon keeps the money alive
Ozzy's putting on some weight.
he only played on a couple tours and didnt even record anything with him. infact the first couple shows of the first tour he did they only played 2 or 3 ozzy songs and the rest sabbath songs because he didnt know any ozzy and it was such short notice

@naja69us1 you are damn right
Ozzy's hands looks HUGE when he's clapping haha!
