Yes, I have camped right at the trailhead...but kinda cold at night. This was the third time I rode Thunder Mountain and can't wait to ride it again...soooo sweet!
Winter is putting a damper on things but I did ride Eagles View couple days ago and all north faces had 4” snow. We got a little bit more since then. There are some secret routes but the good rides are all on Trailforks. If you can enjoy tough two track it goes everywhere. Love to ride with you, we got an RV spot with full hookup if ever interested but not sure how we connect.
@@mikechar8658 There is a chance I might swing through southwest Utah in the spring, so I will keep Eagles View in mind. I’ve previously been through Escalante on route between Hurricane and Moab…but didn’t know to stop and enjoy a ride.
Yes, I have previously created a video of this ride, but it was on an older camera and the image not nearly as stable as for this video. I am working on re-riding some old favourite trails to produce better quality videos. It keeps me very busy!!
Thanks again! Yes, although this is ranked as black diamond, I think it’s rideable for most intermediate level riders. I would call it an easy black. However there are some steep, eroded, sharp corners near the bottom that you want to be cautious riding, but you will see them long before you get there. But the scenery is outstanding!
It’s probably best to shuttle if you have a second vehicle. Otherwise you will need to climb up the trail that is just beside Highway 12 from the bottom of the trail to the top.
I had the extreme pleasure of riding this trail about a month after it was completed. It was unknown at the time ( before internet) and I did not see a single tire mark nor evidence of erosion and felt like the first person to have ridden the trail. It was sick.
Did it a few years ago. Camped in the Red Canyon CG and pedaled up the paved bike path to the trail head. Magical going down between the hoodoos.

Gees this looks FUN! Thanks for taking us along.
Super fun! Thanks for watching!
My favorite local ride, just down 12 in Escalante. Ride On Ron
Thanks! Lucky you! I have always wondered about other rides in the Escalante region…any suggestions?

I rode that trail on my Onewheel, it was fantastic!
On a unicycle? That’s amazing! That wouldn’t have been easy!
It’s one of those skateboard looking things with one wheel in the middle, but it was challenging! Love watching your vids !
Great video. I really liked the other video you made of this ride.

Beautiful and fun and seems to be at our level too, but we'd just do it slower. Nice job on the vid again!

Great video.
Thanks, that is one of my favourite all-time rides. Unfortunately it is a little hard to get to. Thanks for watching!
Is this trail a loop or do you have to shuttle?

You were very fortunate! I have now ridden it 3 times and it’s a delight every time! It’s hard to imagine a place like that exists!
@@ronsanderson99 if you have the chance Vernal Utah is a great place, Richfield Utah is super fun Ridgway Colorado is a favorite.
@@enchiladasmith014 thanks for the ideas. Richfield is already on my radar but I hadn’t heard of Vernal or Ridgeway Colorado…thanks!
