    Nice job on the transmission and lathe. I am encouraged to see a younger person doing something besides staring at a phone. Makes me think I may find someone to take over my shop when I am gone.

    Get a "Go Power Sports" sock for your air filter. The amount of "small particulates" it catches is amazing. And your filter lasts longer.

    You are doing a super cool job on that. I just hope you trim off the extra long bolts and paint it.

    Dude you are the man at building things! I gotta say it’s pretty cool that you built your own gear system on your go kart. I really wanted gears on mine but Have no clue how to do something like that

  • @robertordewald8678

    A neutral detent with a lockout, park, would help, a reverse gear could be added to your trans as well!

  • @adithmart
    @adithmart 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    OK, use the spring to keep the shifter in a place that you want. As you might have thought about, machine some type of snake that a rod will need to go over but then latch into.

    Blue is good that hammered paint finish would look especially good maybe on the floor pan as well when you put one in so a stick don't come through it and kill you

  • @Ziggy75gg
    @Ziggy75gg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    From the “engine running while going backward” clips it seems the the the new torque converter may be helping with the shifting. Is this true or is high speed shifting still a problem?

  • @mapleacrefarm
    @mapleacrefarm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've loved watching this design evolve as you went along. Good job! BTW, you didn't need to raise the engine. The torque convertor mount has different holes in it so you can rotate it to a different position.

  • @gabrielharris1845
    @gabrielharris1845 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice upgrade. I'm planning the frame for a go kart. I can't wait to weld it up with my everlast welder so that I can get to the powerplant.

    Always wanted to build a go cart like this but with 2 snowmobile tracks on back and more HP. Snowmobiles are a pain, ever get one in soft snow and get it stuck good? Talk about back breaking BS to dig out holy crap. "Snow buggy" sounds better to me. More stable and less likely to bog down in deep snow due to more track surface area to float over the snow better.

  • @TheScaryName

  • @ggordon4127

    If it doesn't take much to hold it in gear how about a simple detent on the linkage?

  • @Rebar77_real
    @Rebar77_real 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    4:11 Did we just witness a Welding Gods blessing? :P Grats on the sponsor!
    For locking it in gear, how about a center-console auto tranny lever? Maybe just the stick with button. Or the whole unit, but it'd have to lock in gear and you wouldn't need the whole throw so just the stick w/button might be better. You could rig it up no problem. Have a local wrecking yard?

    If you put a grease pencil line on the exhaust tube heat it up while the engine is running where it stops melting cut it off and you will tune the exhaust.

    use a spring lock on your shifter. you squeeze it with your hand when you shift and it pulls a pin out of a hole then a spring pushes the pin back in the second hole when you let go. get it?

  • @KristofferEk
    @KristofferEk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    might wana get a proper box cuter or a knife for the next pakage the hacksaw looket like it was a little precarius to open with. and would it not have been easier to just put the tourq converter at a highter angel? not to mention safer? I thought that was what all the extra mounting holes was for on it.

    Your shifter...use a strong spring directly under the center of travel and the spring will hold the position of the shifter in high and low. As long as the shifter travels in an arc, this will work.
