You may have heard of Schiphol, our biggest airport (and one of Europe's biggest) - roughly half a millennium ago that was a sea where we fought the Spaniards...

Fun fact: There are actually plans to polder doggerland (admittedly not very good ones). This is an area of the North Sea between the Netherlands and England which is relatively shallow and was at the surface during the last ice age.
