This is a very interesting take! I dont know about not considering Delvaux luxury simply because one hasnt heard about. Exclusivity, pricing, archives and products made all factor into whether something is luxury or not. Just because you havent heard of a brand doesnt mean it's not a top tier luxury brand. I think this means one isnt looking beyond their horizons. This also makes consumers susceptible to not seeing a diverse set of brands I think it's really important to acknowledge brands like Delvaux and Launer, the latter made bags for Queen Elizabeth II. Just because they aren't on social media everyday doesn't mean they aren't luxury. Thank you for sharing your views
The fact that you haven’t heard of Delvaux is very indicative on how little you know of the luxury world. It is the house that invented lady handbags in the 1st place , it is not “around for a long time “ , it is the oldest manufacturer of women handbags in the world, and it is the definition of luxury itself . Not a fast fashion product like LV .
Wow, I am shocked she has never heard of Delvaux. Geez, just because SHE has not heard of it doesn't mean it isn't luxury. It's extremely elite, and I dare say it deserves its spot because of how exclusive it is.
I was with you until you got to the end and explaining in regards to if you had not heard of it how was it luxury!? Just because you haven’t heard of something or just because you don’t personally aspire to have something does not make it less than or not luxury. We are all in different tax brackets and there are things I have never heard of because I probably can not afford it , but it doesn’t make it not luxury. Also, people are into different things so therefore they will not be exposed to certain things, again doesn’t make it not luxury. If you had never heard of a certain yacht designer or manufacturer , who was known for designing lavish yachts , are his yachts not luxurious or considered luxury? I get where you are coming from with the text book definition but luxury is different to everyone and text book definitions do not fit every scenario. Great conversation starter however.
Personally Luxury branding is all psychological marketing. As humans, we aspire to better our lives, whether it be through our jobs, homes, and cars, so why not with luxury designer brands. Do not be misled by these brands. You don't need these things to make you feel good or feel like you've made it in life. I do buy some luxury brands that offer sales like Ferragamo and Bally. I never buy full price (with an exception, read below) and will always wait for items to go on sale. I will never buy Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes etc. To be fair, my exception, I did buy a pair of Prada Downtown sneakers, only because the Nike version i.e. Dunks and Jordans were cheaply made. I wanted a similar style but with quality, therefore I bought into Prada. This was the only one item I had to have and was willing to spend $1K. In contrast. many here are excessive and only buy to display their luxury on shelves only to sell them later down the road.
I agree that the term luxury is overused. There are luxury TH-camrs who sit in front of a background that looks like a cheap thrift shop or their bags are placed on cheap steel racks, and yet they claim that they are the embodiment of luxury. Just because they buy some high-end luxury brand handbags, they want to identify themselves as some great people. So pretentious. It probably stems from insecurity. I can't help but laugh at them. They are more like luxury wannabe clowns.
I felt the same way when I would click on a ‘Chanel unicorn 🦄 bag’ video & it would be a classic flap in basic color…I get that it may have been hard to acquire, but that doesn’t make it ‘rare’ or ‘unicorn’

Is it just me or does the Cream Chanel Flap in the top left look crooked? Is it just the angle?
The bag is in angle babe 😂

I never seen anyone in the Delvaux store and I have passed by it many times.
They're really expensive that's why
