Thank you! I believe the traditional way of ranching or farming in general is dying. How crops and livestock are sold seems to shifting towards direct to consumer to benefit the farmer!

Can someone please explain how does it work price per pound per head I get lost

Tiny calves and higher quality breeding age cattle will sell by the head. ($1200, $1500, etc per animal regardless of size).
The bulk of your calves and slaughter animals sell by the pound. (A calf weighs 450lbs and sells for $2.25/lb. 450x$2.25=$1012.50).

All calves and bulls sell by the pound. Cow/calf pairs, bottle calves,and higher quality bred cattle sell by the head

I don't understand why the auctioneers can't speak clearly. Some of them will just make random noises between saying the amounts. I've stopped bidding several times because I couldn't understand what the bid was.

JR, the auctioneer in the video is top 2 here in Arkansas. The word or noises between dollar amounts are just fillers that mean absolutely nothing but yes, some a quite better than others. It just takes time of listening to get use to it

Don’t know much about the south ark sale barns. Those don’t have much of a online footprint of any kind heck most don’t even show up on the market reports

@@kingfamilycattle boy they sure are high, me and my dad hauled and bought a lot of cattle at Sercey sale barn in the last 10 years, he passed away year ago in March, I miss it , you might know David Nix he hauls probably a 100 head or so every week up that way, that's my dad's brother, long haul from $tar City, it is a nice sale barn and people
