Yes, with all respect, I feel the same way, we love to keep Kauai beautiful. The main issues are ... construction/ road work is already challenging, the infrastructures of the highway cannot endure more people, more vehicles. Another concern is most folk cannot afford these beautiful homes. The rental community is very taxing as well, although at this time we are seeing subtle price drops in home ownership & monthly rental pricing due to a combination of many underlining issues, ( also many Landlords are very strict on a no pet policy here, our Kauai Humane Society is overflowing with beautiful canines that would be adopted if landlords would be more open) Blessings to all.❤🙏🌺🐾

It's so weird how I never been to any of the islands of Hawaii, yet feel like I have. I moved recently to Oahu, and was with my brother on the phone and he said looks like you're in Puertorico! My entire family including parents were born and raised in P.R. we are the only ones born in Boston but our summers since childhood (every year from June-August) were in Puertorico! I understand exactly how your uncle feels how no amount of money could have him sell his home/land! You cant put money on your identity, your life memories in an area that means everything to you and generations before, theres history there. Theres a way of life only people from the islands know about, and being here for just a week, I get nostalgic about P.R. The food, the music, the vibe, the culture, the family bond is rich on the islands, and I feel like im home away from home in a way. Thank you for another great video in showing a few things on that island but protecting the rest of it as well. These kinds of videos are ones I anticipate to watch. Mahalo 🙏🏻🏖🌴🌊🫂🫂

Kaua'i is a great island, its more laid back/old school Hawaii. The only (minor) drawback is the one road on the east/northern coast can be backed up depending on the time of year. Elsewise, its an amazing place i've thought about retiring to when I'm ready ;)

My great grandparents are from Hanalei. My grand mother told stories of Kauai in the 1930’s and 40’s. I love to come “home” to Kauai. My mom was raised in Lahaina, Maui and I love Maui but Kauai has my heart.

Currently living in Costa Rica as an expat with my fiance and newborn baby. Originally from San Francisco, I stayed for Kauai for 2 weeks last September and got in touch with the locals went tot the local gym local eats and really felt a great connection to the people there.
After Costa Rica while I continue to build my online business we will definitely be coming to stay somewhere in Hawaii for an extend period.

The albatross in Princeville brought back an amazing memory. I got lost my first short-cut in Princeville down to Anini beach, and spent the night on a trail instead of the campground. In the morning, I was heading back to the road to figure out where I went wrong when I mistakenly crossed through someone's yard. Embarrassed, I tried to sneak out, but was busted by the owner, that shushed me and told me to come look. A huge albatross nest was in his yard! it was an amazing experience. Then he directed me safely back to the main road, and I was on my way, awed for the rest of the day. Mahalo for the memory reminder. 🥰🤙

Funny, you showed my home on Oahu in front of Moili'ili island (Chinaman's Hat), my old neighborhood of Pupukea Oahu where I grew up, my home in Hanalei and my home in Kapaa,,,,, brah!!!!! You following me or what?!?!!
You missed some others that I have though.
It sure looks like the home I built that your Uncle lives in after Hurricane Iniki down in Nawiliwili, the original owner was named Ricky, his wife died about two years after I built it for them(Original paint on the trim too). You showed some other homes I built too. Been building in Hawaii for fifty years, family has been here for 135 years on one side and the other side since forever.
Nice video, just happened across it and was surprised to see some of my real estate in it along with some I built for other people.

      Aloha,
I built it for Ricky and his wife at the time, she died a few years after we built it for him. This was built shortly after Hurricane Iniki.
I know what you mean about the being out of control, he liked to party but the party never ends, never, always one more and then the last one. Kathleen was her name if I remember correctly. Ricky and Kathleen, they were fun, always smiling and smoking meats, fishing, cruising, full on Hawaiian style beach/water man...
      Kathleen passed heartbreakingly young!
Take care, I wish you and your family all the best!
      Enjoy every day!

I'm not from Kaua'i, or from Hawai'i, originally, but lived on O'ahu for 20+ years, and I feel very protective of the lesser known areas of the Islands. I''m glad you chose not to show a lot of the island on this video. We need to preserve what is uniquely Hawai'ian about Hawai'i. Otherwise, what attracts people there so strongly will end up disappearing, making it just another island community like any other.

I am a young parent, 4 children. I cannot afford a bank loan 400-500€K to buy my own home. The prices are so high, i cannot own a land on my anchestors land. Where can I go? Want to escape this world and the thiefly government of my country. What choices are for young people and families over the world? If you are not a millionaire from some corp, you cant own anything soon... It is not about the place, it is everywhere around the world. Post-covid price increase is insane. Sick.

Wanna find out how the locals really feel about you, haole? Try to watch a late UFC fight at a little bar in Kapa'a that's filled with locals. Staring daggers. It was our third time on kauai, and the first time i felt concerned about my safety. Going in September, probably for the last time. Just learned about "Haena State Park" yesterday, and let's face it... the island is just too small for everyone on earth to be there. But yeah...Princeville is paradise.

When I moved to the mainland/ continual U.S.- ppl had a hard time understanding me. It was frustrating having to learn to slow my speaking so much and getting use to the pace of how ppl talk here, but I'm sure it was frustrating for them not being able to make out a word of what I was saying.
