How much faster is driving versus taking Skyline? KITV4 put it to the test!

- KITV4 rode the rail Friday morning to test the ease and efficiency of using the new mass transit service. Our route was from the Skyline station in East Kapolei to the newsroom. For our test, we left at peak morning commute time. Here's our results.

Every train should be met by an express bus to Downtown, Ala Moana and Waikiki. Without such a service ridership will always perform poorly. Until it is extended to Middle St it should be marketed to tourists to boost ridership - great views and an automated train not available any where else in the USA
That's exacly how it works right now. She took an express bus in the video to downtown, and that bus also goes to Ala Moana, stops at the Ala Wai, then goes to UH.
Might as well just catch the bus from where you live to where you are going.
It's a pointless waste of money! Why wasn't it built all the way into Waikiki for Airport arrivals into town.

Never rode this yet but the rail in Seattle is very efficient in terms of leaving and getting to the airport. Much more reliable than getting Uber to SeaTac airport.
One hour? It takes me less than 30 minutes from Kaneohe to kapolei.
No duh course its going to be faster to drive. Always will be since it stops at stadium for now.
just wait until school is back in session. Plus, how many times through the year you get one car overheat and back up the whole thing. At least with rail the consistency is there of getting from point A to point B the same every day. The roads are a guessing game every day.
How far does the skyline go and where do you get tickets or passes to ride this? You can't pay or buy at the platforms?

Lol. Transfers are so common in Japan that there's a word "Norikae" that specifically refers to transferring on public transit.
I transfer between buses every day I ride transit and in most places you transfer to other rail lines. It's part of the game - like swinging from vines.

They should have used the $Billion on an enhanced bus system like many major cities have. I remember spending 10 cents to go from Ewa Beach to Ala Moana. It was a nice ride.
It takes me longer on the rail than the bus. Fake news didn't add in the commute to the rail. Catch the bus from Mililani to the rail, wait for the fail, get off, wait for the bus. Express bus was 50 minutes to St.Louis high school. Do a real comparison, not a advertisement.

It's not worth it unless you work or want to shop at Ala Moana or your destination is near the skyline station walking distance. You drive to the skyline station park the car then get on the skyline then take a taxi or bus to get to your destination if not walking distance - then on the return catch the bus, taxi get on the Skyline go to where your car is in HOPES NO ONE AS RIPPED OFF YOUR CAR IN A UNSECURED LOT TO GO HOME,

Wait until the crazies and the predators start riding that thing. No workers on the thing to intervene if there's trouble. If someone having a medical emergency, how are first responders going to get to the person? No can! I knew it back in 1979 while in high school. As high school students, we had to study rail and we knew back then that the city would not be able to afford to maintain it. We predicted that it would make the city go belly up if it was built. Watch and see, the city is going to go belly up.

Edit: yep, google maps says 30 minutes to an hour for that time on thurs, jul 6.
Cuts down faster if they also took ziplane.

comparing APPLES with ORANGES. Rail has no traffic. A better comparison would be comparing the RAIL with a HELICOPTER. Both using the air.
