    Why You should modify ALL your brushes in Clip Studio
    • You Should Modify ALL ...
    In this video I will show you how to Paint ANY character illustration in Only 6 Steps from start to finish. I'll explain how light works and the importance of Lighting in your illustrations. Also, how to use any color of light when painting, and my step-by-step process to paint anything you want.
    For this we will be using Clip Studio Paint but the theory behind this works the same on ANY illustration software. We’ll look at digital painting characters, using 3D Backgrounds in CSP, and I’ll give you the key to success when approaching any art piece.
    Painting with Light. Lighting is always the answer.

    I've literally stopped working on digital art because of the frustration with my colors never feeling right even after studying bounce light!! You sir have restored my faith in trying again 😭😭 thank you so much for showing me what no other tutorial has 😭

    Wow you have the best tutorials! I was so confused on why my illustrations looked flat and wacky but with the way you composite colors and highlights with the Background everything looks next level now! that 3D stuff looks super helpful too!

    • @ManuMercurial
      @ManuMercurial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Happy to hear this! Yeah I struggled with my illustrations looking a bit flat until I started to do studies from real life (like the ones at the very beginning when i'm talking about Lighting properties), that helped a ton. Something just clicks after doing two or three of them and it stays in your bloodstream. Highly recommended! Thank you for watching!

    In addition to this being so accurate and step-by-step process , you also introduced shadows like no one else, like those 3 types of shadows you told us about, I have never looked at shadows in this way before , now I can analyze shadows and maybe improve a bit (I'm new to shading in general)
    Thanks very much for this tutorial, god bless you

    • @ManuMercurial
      @ManuMercurial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thank you for your words Yazan! I really appreciate it, and totally! This way of looking at shadows really helped me breakdown how to use them to complement light and to give volume to the character. Cheers!

    i dont even use clip studio, this is just one of the BEST arts ive ever seen! she has an insanely clean line drawing with stylish curves but great sense of solid 3d spacial awareness. perfectly vibrant colours and light intensity to fit the character in a dark environment. not to say your character isnt beautiful, but as someone new to this channel, this video thumbnail REALLY caught my eye, in a way that your older thumbnail pictures probably wouldn't have. big big improvements.

    • @ManuMercurial
      @ManuMercurial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hawshi Magii! You have no idea how much this comment means to me hehe. I do put a lot of effort into my titles and thumbnails (always plan them before even starting to film the videos) since its the deciding factor on people even watching the video to begin with.
      That being said this thumbnail in particular was a struggle to me, I had 4 completely different versions and had the help of a lot of people in order to decide which one to use. In the end I went with this one, never knowing if I made the right choice. Your message just gave me a lot of peace of mind and made me really happy, thank you. And thanks for watching the video! Cheers!

    This was such an informative tutorial! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻 😊
    If possible, I would appreciate if you elaborate on these 2 topics in future videos:
    *1 -* How to integrate the character & background better, so that they look like they share the same environment 5:58
    *2 -* How to paint a background with the help of 3D models 12:42
    I’m interested in any tips to help me make sure that my characters will always look like they’re actually physically present in the backgrounds where they’re supposed to be.
    Also, I’d love to learn more about techniques to use for painting backgrounds.
    Thank you, and I look forward to watching any videos you post in the future ☺️💖

    Ohhhh I really need to learn how to use 3d objects in clip studio. I'm a hobby artist and personally it doesn't give me anything to draw busy background scenes so I never learned it but 3d objects sound like a great idea to at least make things more interesting when my characters are in a specific setting.
    I love that so many people make tutorials and documentation videos for clip studio. Thank you thank you

    • @ManuMercurial

      I really appreciate it Robin! I'm starting to use blender myself JUST so I can quickly model props for my BGs. I was pleasantly surprised with how intuitive Blender is when it comes to creating objects! I don't feel confident enough with it to make a tutorial but maybe as I gain mileage I'll give it a try. But its definitely the way to go! Thank you for watching!

    Bruh!!!! 😍😍😍😍 I'm really glad that you're sharing your knowledge with us! I don't regularly make digital paintings to this level of polish but it's VERY nice to see that I can do this especially after following through your tutorial (at x0.25 speed) 😂😂
    I would love seeing more of your process work in Clip Studio Paint EX because that's what I use too and I'd like to get better at using it.
    Thanks again for sharing your knowledge again! You're a rockstar!!!! 🤩🤩

    • @ManuMercurial
      @ManuMercurial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YOU are a rockstar for watching it on x0.25 speed hahah! Sorry the pacing is so fast, the current TH-cam meta seems to be favoring really 'urgent' kind of content, and it seem to have worked! But I do plan on doing livestreams (both here and on twitch) in the future where I can work in real time and answer questions.
      I really appreciate the good vibes! Thanks for taking the time to write this! And more CSP content coming your way 🔥

      @@ManuMercurial Hahaha! 😂😂😂Just to be clear, I haven't sat down to follow through this tutorial just yet, but the next time I have to make a digital illustration to look this good, I'm coming back to you for a lesson (at x0.25 speed)
      The (x0.25speed) thing was a joke btw... 😂😂😂 and I brought it up because of how fast you were in your "Animate in CSP like a pro" video. I don't normally change the speed of TH-cam videos and I understand your need to appease the TH-cam Algorithm. It's all good! I'm just SUPER glad that you're making pro tutorials for free!
      Thanks again Manu Mercurial!!!! 😍😍😍

    I always mess up coloring and shadows/lights nowadays, so your tutorial was recommended to me in the perfect moment.
    honestly, I like to overcomplicate things as a self-taught artist, and it just looks so easy now after the video :"D I even make drawings on phone (have nothing else, sadly) to begin with, and stuff is limited there.

    Thank you really for your video also i appreciate the speach at the end cause i am rookie and I was feeling like cheating if i use references and it takes me some time to accept that I really draw something and its normal to use references. I am giving you a heart on your written version

    • @ManuMercurial
      @ManuMercurial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank YOU for watching it. I totally feel you, I don't know why but when I was in college everyone used to brag about how "they painted stuff without any ref" (of course it looked like doo doo). But then as I got into the industry I realized that every single professional, without exception, uses reference. And, as I've done it myself I realized it is single-handedly the key factor for a piece's success!
      I think what's important is using several references and not only one, so there's no plagiarizing. It's also counter productive to use few, cause the more references you use, the more original and rich your mixture will be, so it turns into something fantastic!
      And on the other side of the coin, it is also important not to spend too much time on this, so we don't fall on procrastination (I'm definitely guilty of this haha). Wish you the best of luck!
