    Just watched about 5 pink salt soap recipes on TH-cam channel from different makers, like them all! Now onto soaping! I enjoy watching all of you SO much and am doing this as a hobby and very small start of local selling. Going to call my soaps “Soaperior Suds” and it is a blast. Am a nurse forever and still working at that, but in the last six months watching TH-cam and all of you, have taught myself this wonderful hobby. Like the I dream in soap lady, I think about soaping constantly. LOVE IT. Thank you Ellen!

    Love this recipe! I made two batches - one with sea salt and lime essential oil - I call them margarita bars. The other was with blood orange essential oil and the pink Himalayan salt. So pretty! Thank you for sharing so much with all of us.

      How well did it suds? And was it drying on your skin? Was this good for a body soap or just simply a hand soap?

    I absolutely love watching your channel and love that you share your recipes and knowledge. I am new to all this and really want to learn more. It all started with trying to remove plastic from our home and less chemicals. I’m going to lose my job soon so I am hoping this can possibly turn into a small business. You are a great inspiration and now a part of my daily routine. Always look forward to your videos. Thank you so much

    Made a batch last weekend, missed adding castor oil before I put it into the molds. So I dumped everything back into my mixing bowl and stirred in an ounce or so - it was already pretty thick so I didn't want to risk getting the full 3 ounces incorporated (my thinking was that the superfat would cover the little bit less of the castor oil). Back into the mold it went. Tested a bar just now, no zappiness, and it is still plenty sudsy even with less castor oil. Scented with Love Spell, so nice!! This batch will be all for me since I made mistakes, but I am looking forward to another batch and getting it right this time. 😅 As always, I soooooo appreciate your guidance and your recipes! 💞

    I'm thinking you could probably do a small batch of soap for the seeds part. Let it thicken up good before pouring the main batch. I'll try this recipe soon. Thanks for sharing.

  • @nancykelly9712

    Hands down, salt soap is my absolute favourite soap of all!! It fixes all ailments on my skin, I feel so clean washing with it and absolutely not drying!! I actually add sodium lactate to my mixture. I found that the soap mixture breaks off at the edges in a mold if I don't add some, so I add it to be sure the soap firms up without being salt brittle if that makes any sense.
    One trick I did was to paint colour in the molds using coloured melt and pour soap! Believe it or not, it works great and sticks to the soap without smearing or moving the colour!! Mix a little mica in alcohol and then add a little of that to melt and pour soap, then use that as paint. You will probably need to microwave a few times for a few seconds to keep it fluid but it totally works great!! 😉

    Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I've had a batch of salt bars that didn't turn out as expected ( I left it in its loaf mold for ONE hour and it was rock hard LOL) So I have not tried making a salt bar again, but I think after watching your video I am going to give individual molds a try! I love all your videos btw! Such an inspiration for other makers just starting out!!

    I wonder if instead of using a carrier oil for the seeds, a bit of alcohol/vodka like you can with certain when painting. It might stop the slippage.
    The bars are beautiful 🌻🌻

    I love your recipes. I made these back in February using a Cactus and Sea Salt fragrance and they turned out amazing. My batter gets really thick fast every time I make them. You mentioned putting cane sugar in your lye solution - how much did you use?

    Hi Ellen, we made the recipe in a sunflower mold. The first time we used med Himalayan salt. Beautiful soap! Big foamy bubbles. Then we used the fine salt, same big bubbles. But the soap has a whitish covering on the bottom of the sunflower. It just washes off, but is there some way to prevent this? PS Your bars are BEAUTIFUL!

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like soda ash, it's totally fine.... You can try spritzing with rubbing alcohol when they are setting up.

    I've been meaning to try to make a himalayan salt soap,with menthol crystals in the oils. But,I don't want it to dry out the skin so much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Just do a solid color. OR YOU CAN JUST PUT 1 BLACK DOT AND NOT COLOR THAT WHOLE BOTTOM WHOLE THEN IT MIGHT NOT RUN THE COLOR.
