I love when games give different bosses their own individual theme songs. It adds another layer of depth and personality to the characters that I personally don’t think would’ve shown otherwise. Makes the boss feel a little more intimate, if that makes sense.
If you'll notice. Most of the boss themes for this game are Japanese in origin. But this one is, strangely, a little more like combining Japanese and English music together to form this boss theme. I think it's to represent the different technologies and ideals that were brought oversees by English and Dutch explorers and traders.
I really remember this boss fight vividly. The way it's built up to and incorporated into the plot is such that you feel yourself losing your grip on what you thought you knew about the world of the game
Lechku: I say good sir, after we teach this young ruffian a lesson I propose we stop by at Margaret's for a spot of tea. Nechku: Ah, Capital old boy. Lechku:Jolly good show.
I LOVE this boss battle. It's so creepy and because you battle one, then both kinda makes it more realistic than just weaving your way into a boss lair and fighting. It felt so good to finish them off after all the people they killed...
It's a shame they never gave these two dialogue, the intimidation factor goes up with that sure, but this fight was built up from the moment we entered Kamui and talked to Oki, Orochi and Ninetails talked and had their fights built up, these brothers should have exchanged a few words to our hero/heroine team before the epic fight began xD, ahh well, they are still the best regardless
I disagree, I think it makes them stand out and goes well with their mechanical appearance, not to mention as you say, it makes the intimidation factor go up quite a bit. There's nothing wrong with having a silent one out of the bunch, that's practically a trope of itself. I think it works really well for these two. I feel dialogue would have sort of killed the mood they have set up for me.
@RabbitShirogane I agree with you. He is one of my least favorite bosses in the game. Didn't even have his own theme. I didn't like Blight either, very boring fight.

I've been thinking about converting the characters who are usually animals into more humanoid figures The Twins feel like they would be Tegu. Nine Tails is a shapeshifting kitsune already, but give him busted up samurai armor, and a helm that resembles a fox mask.
good point, there isn't an abundance of examples. Primarily I was thinking of Yami's forms (robot, gambling machine, spinning saws etc) and the blizzard machine. I wasn't aware of the clay soldiers though. I just picked up on the negative connotations attached to machinery during my first play through of this amazing game. whether its intended or not...well...
Spider Lady: *Shudders* ...I hate spiders... | Red Mask: ...Japanese...Tirek.. | Orochi: GET ON THE HYDRAS BACK! | Blight: Oh look, It's AIDS in the form of an evil spirit. | Ninetails: Where the hell is a master ball when you need one.. | Lechku and Nechku: Foolish Raccoon, I will make sure that the Cooper Clan will beneath my talons. | Yami: ..(I really hate doing this.)...COME ON AND SLAM! AND WELCOME TO THE JAM!
Spider Queen: Go to hell and take your cheap ass VHS tape with you, you disgusting fuck! Crimson Helm: You are ugly! You are dumb! You are overcompensating for something! And now you're dead! Orochi: Go ahead and get drunk, it'll all be over soon, heh heh heh. Blight: Allow me to introduce you to how America deals with YOUR kind. Ninetails: There can only be one, and it is not you! Leckhu and Nechu: How does that gunboat diplomacy feel boys? Yami: The sun rises, you fall. Master Anura: How does it feel to get your ass kicked by a REAL god, Naruto boy? Bullhead: You will never be a dragon! NOW GET IN MY BELLY. Sen and Ryo: Next time open a TH-cam channel you talentless hacks. Renjishi: I am the blue fairy, and I came to make you a real dead boy. King Fury: I could kill you for a thousand years and still not make a dent in your filth. Akuro: No means no, get it thru your cleaved skull. Dark Chibiterasu: You're not good enough to be my fake!
@Ascensiam" Also, Orochi had his heads sliced off, Ninetails was reduced to a crummy brown fox and Spider Queen exploded into a flower, but that didn't stop them from showing up in full force again.
@MrOkamifan If any wish to know what metal they are so are Batchku the demon of leed and Bloodchku of brons. They are also quite freaky and they are demons of balance.
I mentioned that a couple months back when people asked why they didn't show up, so I know you couldn't fight them without Oki. But it doesn't make sense for them to be permanently dead as well if their spirits rose up and gathered at the Ark just like every other previous boss.
Never noticed this before, but one tells what time it is while the other tells what date it is, with the date reading "12/1/6", and the time being "17:12" or "5:12am/pm" Idk if the date has relation to anything, but the fact that their designs reflect different scopes of time telling is cool as shit.

These bosses were cool!! I like when you fight alongside Shiranui!
I've been thinking about converting the characters who are usually animals into more humanoid figures
The Twins feel like they would be Tegu.
Nine Tails is a shapeshifting kitsune already, but give him busted up samurai armor, and a helm that resembles a fox mask.
This was one of those times in a video game where I was on point and it was because of the music. I remember absolutely devastating these 2 chumps.
good point, there isn't an abundance of examples.
Such cool bosses. Shame they were so easy
+Blake yeah they are but you can make it longer if you take a little bit of their health wen they are stunned
is their are difficult boss in okami ?! But the game is awesome
one of the best, i always listen to the sound track
I thought Yami and the Nine Tailed Fox were pretty tough.
Kusa 5. They are nearly impossible.
Heheh, that stuff is true, but it's Crimson Helm, not Red Mask. :P
Dark Chibiterasu: You're not good enough to be my fake!
aliastheabnormal VHS tape? Le wha?
AntiFormKeyblade A reference from The ring.
Shahrooz Smith Sly Cooper and Okami mentioned in the same breath!? Amaterasu be praised!
I always loved this song, and the boss battle was fun as hell. xD
I honestly want to someone to make a statuette of these 2, so cool looking
They look threatening in that image.
Well they're bosses, they won't sheare a cup of tea with you
This was an amazing battle you get to fight along side your ancestor and its fucking awsome
Nechku: Would you like a cup of tea, my good fellow?
Lechku: Why yes I would, my good sir.
Nechku: Quite so.
Lechku: I say.
these bosses are awsome, I love how oki is all bad ass in it. When shirinui jumped in the way, I thought I was going to cry.
@Ascensiam" Also, Orochi had his heads sliced off, Ninetails was reduced to a crummy brown fox and Spider Queen exploded into a flower, but that didn't stop them from showing up in full force again.
Giant gentleman clock owls? Well played, Japan.
I love the desperate but dark tone this song has. I always tear these two to shreds. Always gets my blood to boil
@MrOkamifan If any wish to know what metal they are so are Batchku the demon of leed and Bloodchku of brons. They are also quite freaky and they are demons of balance.
I freaking love how they make these 2 :D
Classiest demons ever. :3
When you realize these are the only bosses excluded from the Ark of yamato replay bosses
They were originally going to have a room up there, but they couldn't figure out a way to work in Shiranui and Oki coming back.
This song is great, and those sure are some classy owl demons
This song had me at the clocks.
I've read somewhere that, while Lechku has analogical clock work, Nechku's display actually was a calendar of sorts.
when you skip duolingo japanese lesson...
Quite possibly the most dapper bosses in the game.
I mean, tophats and monocles. HOW COULD YOU NOT BE MORE DAPPER THAN THAT?
Beautiful, I have the play and It' s amazing,!!
This music makes me realize. I WANT THIS GAME, its awsome
If their attacks don't get you their style sure will, I have GOT to get me an outfit like theirs.
I LOVE this music!
I mentioned that a couple months back when people asked why they didn't show up, so I know you couldn't fight them without Oki. But it doesn't make sense for them to be permanently dead as well if their spirits rose up and gathered at the Ark just like every other previous boss.
Õkami's boss musics are the best ones I have ever heard!
yep, so u can roam around doing side quests and stuff that would be awsome
Jolly good!
Never noticed this before, but one tells what time it is while the other tells what date it is, with the date reading "12/1/6", and the time being "17:12" or "5:12am/pm"
Idk if the date has relation to anything, but the fact that their designs reflect different scopes of time telling is cool as shit.
