The S5 is clean as fuck, looks amazing.
It looks like the owner of the bmw forgot to move his seat forward after Sam drove in. Maybe he couldn’t press the throttle all the way to the floor.

Because the tuning was poorly he probably made the car heavier than stock and thats why its almost stock time.
Sometimes you shouldn’t Tune some parts. But chiptuning only should make it faster. Who know what he did increase? We also dont know the weight difference of both cars. But lets say they where the same weight. The Audi would have won here either way. Because at this point Newtonmeters make a big difference.

@@nodnarbz_1327Not just that. Even when both going hybrid turbo the S5 is actually more powerful since the single turbo's housing got milled out for a much bigger internal. Overall B9 RS is a lost cause with that semi-neutered EA839 2.9 V6TT.

S5 owner here. Nice to see Audi finally get a win in one of these races. The tunability on these cars are really a great bang for your buck. Looks like the m340i could've used a second or two more on the brake boost/launch control. Great Run!

I thought that would be closer. I'm an Audi guy but thought the 340 would do better with extra torque, those side skirts are hideous however and ruin the look of that beautiful car.

S5 was a bullet off the line. M340i is an amazing car but really in stock form, it's just tuned for more power. There's no magic.
Really well tuned cars. No issues in the race and both ran perfectly.

I watch so many races with tuned cars and there is always one or both cars that absolutely shit themselves because they are poorly tuned. Good stuff Sam
really? Stock M340i does 12,2-12,5 sec 1/4 mile runs. You mean to tell me 100+ HP added reduces 1/4 mile run by 0,2-0,5 secs? Thats a well tuned car? I see stage 2's running low to mid 11's depending on elevation and fueling
@@zafert85 stock M340 in all the most perfect situations and prepped surfaces will run those. So many variables in these races that I wouldn’t look too deep into those but rather how they perform. You need to remember, I believe he’s getting his data from a vbox or something similar.
To be honest, not even sure what kind of tires the M340 is running. That should be one of everyone’s first mods if looking to go fast

@@zafert85correct me if I'm wrong but the 340i has a B58 right? If it's a very well tuned car how in the hell does it only make 20tq over hp? My supra has the same engine and it makes over 40tq over hp. Also the specs show the 340i has a trans tune and Sam was manually switching gears when he had traction off, with a trans tune once you turn traction control off it puts it into "race mode" where it'll redlines every gear before switching on it own

I’m not sure who who told the 340 driver that he made 480whp on 93 😂 they don’t! They make 420 at most. You need ethanol to get close to 500whp.
This car definitely isn't making 500hp! The numbers he's running is pretty close to stock in the quarter.
He might be making a little bit more than stock. I mean he is on a bm3 tune which is who I’m tuned by aswell

Something is wrong at that bmw. They have similar power, audi have MORE transmission losses due to torsen (real) PERMANENT AWD. What i was expected was audi to be first at 60ft/launch, but to be slightly passed at the end. But what i've seen was something like +30-50bhp for audi.. which is strage, at least.

Fr m340 needs a better tune. I own a stage 2 s4 and against my friends stage 2 m340i he’s a bit faster top end.
Coming from an B9 S4 owner, that M340 needs a better tune, but that S5 is MOVING for 93. I feel like he might be running an E mix. I’ve never ran below an 11.5 on 93 and I have almost the exact same mods as this S5

What Im thinking too. I own a 22 m340 xdrive with same mods Jb4, dp, intake, trans tune. 3.2 0-60 and 11.5 1/4. This video makes no sense and Im on all season tires have trouble hooking even with xdrive.

It has to be the higher elevation. Quickest times on TH-cam are at sea level ✌🏽 even the Audi has better quarter mile than that.
Thera is something clearly wrong with the m340i, it should walk the Audi if it had a real stage 2 tune with the supporting mods.
And 11.2 s 1/4 mile is stout for a stage 2 B9 3.0T vehicle.

I honestly think the stated power figures are Crank hp on the BMW and Wheel HP on the Audi.

Somethings off, no way a S5 will hang with a B58 with similar mods. Also please stop manually shifting the ZF8 speed, just put it in sport auto and let the computer strategy shift on its own.

Stock M340i quarter mile usually runs 12.2 to 12.4 seconds with all that extra mod 12.0 seconds don't make no sense.
My bone stock 2020 m340i xdrive ran 12.05 and a 3.74 0-60 on the draggy lol something is wrong

No. These cars are both Turbo 6 cylinders so they have similar powerbands. But It's all the powerband. Look at a Dyno chart. Peak horse power is peak power, but if have to rev a car all the way out like a GT350 to make that peak power, your not going to be the fastest. You could be faster making less peak power, but more power for more of the rev range, and be a lot faster.
Dyno both of these M340i and the S5...no way that m340i making 480 hp

There’s no way that m340 is making those numbers … the S5 is fast but the m340 has something wrong with it .
The Audi is obviously making way more power than claimed.
Imo it’s the opposite bmw is not making as much power as claimed. But the Audi could be making more since the tuners 034 tend to underrate their tunes.
Problem is we don’t know real performance figures, torque figures from s5 suggest hp output mentioned might be rather conservative. Wish the cars performance stats were more transparent for fair comparison.
True the numbers come from 034s dynos not this individual s5 dynos which could be running more power since it varies car to car. 034 also seems to underrate their tunes I know for stage 1 they claim 360ish wheel but most people get around 380 when they dyno it themselves.
Something’s wrong , I ran a 3.7 stock in my xdrive m340. I now run 3.1 tuned on e40, 93 I was like 3.4 , my 60-130 is 8.1 … that m340 ain’t performing like it should. The roll was worse than j thought

Numbers are straight off 034s charts about 403 wheel and 476 crank. If anything the bmw wasn’t pushing as much as claimed imo. I have an s4 with same mods as the s5 in the video and against my friends stage 2 m340i we’re pretty much dead even but he starts to pull top end. Prob a shit tune in the m340 imho but very happy to see the s5 beat an m340! Made my day 😂.

BMW was in manual- made it slower. BMW worse tires- made it slower. Audi is not on e85 nor is it making 580 hp stop being salty. S5 on dragy with a 93 tunes can do 11 second flat- tuned audis are beasts

this video is a wonderful example to show the importance of a good tuning company.
I think I'm becoming older as I appreciate Sam's car reviews, but the aspects of speed such as the 0 to 60 and quarter-mile times simply don't hold significance for me anymore. Particularly during regular driving, a difference of a second or so is hardly noticeable and doesn't have any importance.

I don’t know about the BMW, but assuming the Audi is Stage 2 tuned and likely on E85 based on the BHP number. 3.3 and 11.3 seems to be in the right vicinity compared to my S4 time. It could be a tad quicker if DA is better. Nice video 💪
My full weight b9 S4 on 034 93 ron stage 2 ecu and tcu does 11.3@121 and 3.3 to 60 on the road.

The weight is negligible between S4/S5 coupe/SB vs M340i/440i. I thought the Audi would edge but not put a car or two. I think this shows a difference in tunes. Stop making excuses for the 340 because yall either use BM or MHD.

Yes, I have a 2020 M340ixdrive with same type of mods but, on a JB4 and consistently run sub 12 on the quarter. So with an actual tune this should have been a much closer race. Don't know who would win, but definitely closer results. Could also be in need of a driver upgrade as the launch seemed really soft in the M340.

S5 B9 with 034 stage 2 with repaired turbo solenoids or the facelifted version and right shifting was always faster than the 340m

Audi turbo 3.0l v6 has a bigger stock turbo than any b58 does.

Nice runs! The driver in the Audi should probably sit closer to the steering wheel so his arms are positioned in the way if there’s an emergency, he can maneuver much much better then how he‘s positioned.
I ended up with an IS500 but I was eyeballing an S5 for a while! M340i new styling isn't my favorite. If it looked like the previous gen I might have bought it. Anyways, very interesting result.
Love the match ups and your channel, but why do you insist on doing the shifting in some of your match-ups? Let the car use it's own optimized shift points. Feels like you're adding another variable to the equation that doesn't need to be there.
The algorithm suggested that I think outside the box, which is why I like a tuned Camaro SS with an automatic transmission. It's slower, but plenty of money remains in my wallet. 😜😜

I ran 3.3s 0-60 with the same 034 pump 93 tune also. 11.5 1/4 and I have a heavy setup with the sportback. Number seems legit
