- Biriyani Rice, Beef Satay, Murtabal, and Oxtail are dishes that combine to make a World-class FLAVOR Combo, one of my favorite meals ever... and I’m so happy to be able to have this right where I live in Khon Kaen! The great versions of Thailand’s Best Halal Food at Subaida Halal Restaurant just blow me away.
Whether traveling the 1 kilometer from my current house, or riding 125km by bicycle like I have in years past. Eating a feast of Thai Halal food like this on a Saturday morning is a joyful food experience that has never, ever let me down. I love this meal, wherever on Earth I can find it, a beautiful plate of Biriyani yellow spiced rice with ALL the sides is a plate of food worth traveling for. In this case, Im lucky to only have to "travel" 1km from my house - because Khon Kaen has an AMAZING Halal restaurant, SUBAIDA is the name!

Hey Joel I tried to send you my video oh my birthday in a restaurant call Kobe had a great time now here's the funny part I got home the next day went to church and they have prepared me a meal on Saturday to but I picked it up Sunday it had all these great pieces cake lemon pistachio and chocolate three different pieces I open them up and started eating the pistachio and before I knew it I look down at it and they were real tiny sugar ants they had gotten into the cake I ate half of it before I knew they were in it I've got to quit messing with you guys you got me eating ants now I'm becoming a bad man wow haha

Sup Joel! I’m glad I was able to sit and enjoy some of the livestream yesterday! I’ve been so busy that I can’t really chat and participate but just tune in so yesterday was more chill.
The foods in this video looks so yummy but I noticed that the audio was kind of off and picking up a lot of back ground environment noise. Is there a way you can hook a small mic on you so it can capture your voice more clearly?
Also! You didn’t catch my comment on the livestream but I managed to hit my daily 20 cycling miles goal! 😁 Learned that I needed a good pair cycling gloves lol.
YOOOOOOOO!! That shout out (out loud!! while typing!) was for the 20 miles on the bicycle! Where did you choose to ride that day? Cycling gloves are a funny thing, I no longer wear them, but I do remember when I started riding enough that I felt like I needed them (and then I realized that its the saddle/seat thats usually the problem if youre feeling pain in your hands, OR even pain anywhere, is usually due to the saddle and after that its your shoes! your feet... very interesting).
For the microphone, its both 'yes,' and 'no.' If we are going to do 1-2 hour livestreams, then yes, because I wont use my phone anymore for those. But if people are wanting to hang out, chat, then have coffee, chat some more, THEN stay with us through ALL of lunch haha and THEN still talk.... it has to be the phone. Its the only thing with a strong enough battery to last, but then the microphone jack is taken up by the power supply...
@@JoelsTastyRide You maybe right about the saddle! I’m still trying to find the right height for me so I’m not in pain. I like riding on hiking trails actually. We’ve got a lot of beautiful forests paths around here. Very peaceful when I need to get away.
Yeah battery life is always the problem. My husband always has several battery chargers charging just in case we need to take them with us. Your audio still registers enough to where I can hear you but I have to turn my volume up haha.

Yo my friend Joel. What’s up man and hello Li! Dude nice transition to your clothes. That certainly is movie magic. Ha ha but what amazes me is how you kept your hair all nice still too even after the helmet ha ha. Only you can pull that off my friend. Really cool to see this restaurant. The food looks absolutely delicious and as always you continue to make me hungry. I always go for the pickled Vegetables and I love to couple them with the food as well. Yes biriyani Is so good. I love the spices, the aroma, and the lovely basmati rice texture. Was it basmati rice? Anyways it looked delicious. I definitely need to take you to a biriyani place here in the bay area when you visit. I know just a spot ha ha. Dude that oxtail oh my goodness. I am totally with you there my friend. It’s so gelatinous and tasty. That dish with the oxtail definitely looks so good. I could see why you were so happy ha ha. You know it’s pretty cool about you dude? I love how you’re so thankful for the food. You show an extreme appreciation for what you take in. That shows admirable character with someone gives thanks for the food. I’m not even talking about the prayer. Just expression when you try the food. It’s great. Thanks for sharing your true colors even during a meal. O check that out ha ha I noticed that Tiny Time lapse when he scooped the food. Getting pro aren’t we ha ha. It’s always great to learn new things during the edits and what works and what doesn’t. Who does your editing by the way? You or Li? Speaking of her, she’s doing a great job as your camera person. It takes a lot of dedication to film a food vlog. Trust me I know ha ha many times Shana would get so hungry when We film so I try to take a bite and move on so that she can eat sooner. Sometimes she’ll have something to eat hours before filming so she won’t get hungry but she says I always make her hungry when I eat ha ha. So great job Li! Joel you have a keeper ha ha. thanks for noticing the video editing too man, thank you! Yeah I took time to try and make this one more slick specifically with the video, the light was nice and balanced in there, really made for some good shots.
AND, if you learn to take time to switch between 25 frames per second, and 50-60 frames, then you can get shots like that without changing the feel of the lighting and movement too much... it worked well in this one for sure!

Oh dude!!!!!! How I love bike riding!! My husband bought me a bike after my much needed knee replacement. I've had such knee trouble over 40+ years. Hi Tim!! Yeah its a great recipe, so many different ways! Actually my own opinion is that a Central Thai version with mushrooms was actually the single best Ive ever had! Doesnt even need meat if you know how to get those flavor balances just right.... cheers to Satay man :). Have a great day!

Really getting harder to pick and choose whats gonna happen but I guess thats what many people like about them as well!

Joel, thank you so much for your videos it allowed me to bond with my 15 and 14 year old daughter's. Something we can all watch together and then try out some of the foods. Not only did it allow me to bond but showed me there is humanity still out there and if we could all be just a little like Joel with his humanity and kindness our world will be ok.

Hi Bobby!! Great to have you here today, for the satay sauce, I guess its just a thin curry paste with coconut milk, and maybe regular milk as well, and then yeah you can see the dip is just thick with more coconut cream, peanuts, and some pounded chilies.
Yeah pretty similiar ini here except we used sweet soy sauce as glaze, the dip also peanut base.
satay and mataba are the perfect breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack
