Yet another awesome video with delicious food 😍. Love Indian food as well, we have a huge Indian influence in SA. Bunny chow is probably the most original dish. The Indian immigrants that worked in the sugar cane fields created a way to eat their curries and Dal while working so they hollowed out the half loaf of white bread they were given and filled it with whatever curry they had. Meant to be eaten with your hands. It's usually a lamb, beef or chicken yellow curry or curried Dal. Much love to yourself and Li ❤️ be blessed
This is a hilarious name for what sounds like a wonderful and ingenious way to get full :-) I’m sure it is just a wonderful flavor blend in South Africa. As I said one of my closest friends here is from South Africa, we always talk about food back home :-)
@@JoelsTastyRide lol yes it is. Bunny chow contains everything but bunnies 😂. It's a fun meal to eat. You cut out the middle of the fresh bread then fill with curry, use the cut out soft part of the bread to mop up the curry sauces and then start breaking pieces of the bread to dip into and eat with the remaining curry till it's finished. It's fun and delicious ❤️

Haha Mano! I got a scroll down and see some of these comments then oh well thank you for preparing me :-) of course I would never ever eat a tiger, not only do I love tigers, this is actually my nickname as well so… Yes no need to worry, I will never eat such a thing.
Hi Joel! I literally just ate a green mint sauce with my Indian samosas tonight. I added some Thai peppers that I roasted myself last week. I’ve been exploring Asian fruits and veggies for years and I love it! I can’t wait to get there and have authentic mango sticky rice. All of your food looks delicious. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would love to take you for some mango sticky rice actually I am in one of the places where this would be in abundance ha ha :-) it is popular outside of Thailand, actually sometimes it’s hard to find in Thailand but that doesn’t mean it’s not a delicious and awesome snack :-) I’m so happy about the peppers you are roasting wow, that’s beautiful and to have them with Samosa? Has to be one of the best snacks on planet earth. I ate those growing up as a kid, bhajias also (another North Indian snack), I am happy to remember this, thank you for the memories :-)
Sounds great! Menno, so cool to have you here man (did I notice your name in the livestream the other day???) Cheers to Biriyani sir, hope you found a way to have some ASAP!
I just love this open-minded trio… Joel, Mark and Sonny… Their excitement and their enthusiasm to learn about new cultures and to journey into new culinary adventures are simply contagious. What a beautiful legacy that Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain have started and have left behind… “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” Mark Twain
Saibaidee Joel and Li! BAW PHET BAW SAAP! Personally I think you already have a good heat/spice tolerance. Haha. That Tom SAAP looked so good and interesting, never seen it like that before. OMG that Oxtail soup too! The top layer glistened with the fat made my mouth drool. Will you be doing a Songkran video next week? Unfortunately Songkran over here is still not a possibility with COVID. Instead my family and I are doing my grandmother’s 100 day anniversary of her passing at our Wat. Hope everything is well on your trip in the South! Take care.
Hey man hey man :-) it was good to see you pop in yesterday, and I am still daily enjoying your Instagram deliciousness… Hey man I hope you are well today :-) We will not be having any festivities, I don’t think anywhere in Thailand actually, but it’s OK. We are still lucky and blessed to have good health and of course… As you can see :-)… Quite a few things on the table to drool over. Man, sending my love to you and your family, bless you and bless everyone with nothing but the most wonderful memories of grandma.
Hey man! Thanks for watching! I will be going around in the South by bicycle, gonna be a lot more roadside (loud background noise, which is a classic Thai restaurant vibe! :) ) but I am sorry if it gets to you! Thailand is pretty much categorically a country of background noise, of the many things it has haha :) funny, but true!
no wonder you did not expound on this soup as you wanted to do a separate post!!! The Muslim Southeast Asian style loves to tenderize the connective tissue and collagen for more flavor retention and coating on the palate.... love the biryani... the integrity of the grains are maintained!!!!
I am happy to see that, haha yeah I kinda wanted to let that one out as a preview, I guess I could have just written "Sneak Peak at Mondays Video!". Youre awesme man, massive fist bump cheers on the biriyani love!!!
@@JoelsTastyRide that preview drove me to make a Sop Tulang or Beef Knee soup with spices i got from my last trip to Brunei for the World Halal Championships😊
You'r right Joel, catfish is very meaty and dense. It takes about double the double time to cook it compared to normal fish. And it is almost boneless. Catfish season is starting right now and I catch them at night or in the morning with dead fish as bait. Many times crawfish are hanging onto the dead bait and start eating it.
What a cool bit of experience right here Valentin, thank you for sharing this, glad to have a fellow Catfish lover right here in the comments.:) May I ask where you live? I know there are species of this fish all over the world but, yeah always curious… Have a great day
I agree with Jason Sims, let li sit beside you and y’all talk to each other as you describe the food! Her beautiful personality is so refreshing. I love you guys!!!!
Hiiii Mattee, Again and again thank you for sharing your loving self with us :-) have a great day, wishing you a day full of delicious foods right there as well
Very good video. That dipping sauce looked very interesting, and unique. It'd be interesting to eat that along with the meal. The catfish curry also looked fantastic. Tiger Rib soup with those herbs looked amazing. If I get back to Khon Kaen I'll be sure to visit.
Andrew man :) This was a great video day for sure, that restaurant just deserves a full on table-load of food... would love to go back! Hope youre having a great time in Chonburi man, thanks for all the messages and support! Hope youre learning about some new stuff there, and if you want a recommendation on a restaurant - Loong Riang and Paa Ma-Nee miiiiiiiight be my #1 restaurant in all of Thailand actually. I dont think you could ever have better food for the price, for the location, for what they're working with. Its in Chonburi about 45 minutes outside of town.
@@JoelsTastyRide Ok, I'll find it on google maps, and hopefully stop by in the next week or so. Thanks for the recommendation. Your favourite restaurant in Thailand. I'm going to try and get there.
Hee hee :-) I hope you are having a great day today, I’m pretty sure you can find these in the USA because my friend is a chef in New York City and he uses them often
Thank you Joel and Li you have taken me to another wonderful place, ox tail soup is my favorite, the flowers and water fountain is beautiful too. I have also been enjoying your southern thailand vlogs you are doing a phenomenal job, love to you all and safe travels guys❤
Joel, it amazed me, how much food you and your wife can eat and not gain weight. I get close to food and not taste it and I will gain 5 lbs or 2Kg.Great video and good luck in your adventure in the south,
Steven what a great comment, I am happy you included her and not only myself :-) it is nice to have her there to help me when the food gets out of control, not only help me eat but also help keep my self under control, very important :-) I am smiling because of the humor in your words but I’m also feeling for you if you are not able to eat the things that you want to eat. There are many facets to this, unfortunately, luck is one of them (genes, which we cannot control, are also a big part), and daily habit is a big one as well, and FINALLY the last one, I think it’s the one that most people think of first though, the fact that I do exercise about five times more than the “average 35-year-old male.”
Haha, I have no idea how I didn't see that THIS is what the dish was!! Maybe it wasnt spicy enough... Marks mother in law makes this one about 3 times hotter :)
Dear Joel, we wish you have a great time in the south! Be blessed and be a blessing to others. Wishing Li also succes with school. Hope she will join you soon. Can you put te location in de discription? So we can visit, God willing, next year this restaurant our self. 🤗
Oh man oh man sorry, if you’ve seen my videos you know that I just forgot for this one. I always want to put the locations that you can visit for yourself :-) that’s one of the main things, never wanting to keep these places secret but just simply wanting to share… Thank you for the reminder I will go update that and thank you so much for the well wishing towards Li, that’s awesome, thanks again Gerrit!!
Wow Taylor that is a really cool comment, I appreciate that very much :-) yes I am already down here, tons of good days and maybe 800 km of riding so far. New roads, new people, new friends, new smiles, I feel very blessed to have this chance
Aeis!! Hey hey, doing another one tonight, it’s cool to see a message from you today though. Hope you have been well, hope things are going good this week so far
Hey Vance man I hope you’re doing well today :-) great to see a message from you as always. Actually this is a very common dish, my friend Mark has many recipes on his website www.eatingthaifood.com I would say this is probably top three most common dishes of southern Thailand
@@JoelsTastyRide It has been a long time since I have been to his site and it is upgraded. But, the closest dish I could find was Thai gaeng som, which is sweet and sour soup. Oh well, I'll look the old fashion way. Web search.
What’s up my friend. Oh boy I love biryani. That midsize you have on it looks delicious with it as well. This food looks amazing I can tell you that right now. Oh oxtail one of my favorites. That one looks ginormous. I bet it was so delicious. And I love catfish too. I can tell you right now all these dishes you were having is making me drool. This southern Thai cuisine looks so good. OK paused It’s at the tiger meat two comments on here so I’m gonna hop back onto the video and enjoy the rest of the segment. Great video my friend.

Hello hello good day to you :-) cheers to a fellow lover of the biryani rice, definitely one of the worlds better dishes :-) and no, no one should ever eat a tiger, that’s out of control
Hi Brother Joel. I have a question for you (and I guess Mark too). Why don’t you put the camera in a Tripod and film you and your wife together eating? Mark never does that but I was hoping that you and Li would become side by side team. Just a suggestion. God bless.
I was wondering the same thing. Ying has to tend to Micah, so I get that. But, I would enjoy the camera sitting off to the side, filming both Joel and Li🖤
Hey Jason man :-) actually we do this many times, the video from last week you can see, and the video before that! I always wanted from the beginning to show Lee in the videos, it’s just not possible to make a good video without someone holding the camera for the majority of the filming. Try it out for yourself and you will quickly learn what I mean :-) emphasis on the good video, of course it’s possible to make A video, just not a good one :)
@@JoelsTastyRide but now he is. I think he's learning from you now! Your so loved, you and Li. He shows Ying more now and I've seen him change a few things and he's grown! Just like you. We love you both! So different and yet so familiar. And seriously we love you together. Plus the family. Oh, baby next?
Hi Nikki :-) good to hear from you again, I don’t use any apps actually, only the computer is strong enough, powerful enough to edit video like this. And you will need a DSLR camera, probably some kind of microphone with a wind cover, and that’s it for the basics.
Joel, I can’t believe you had to train yourself with heat tolerance for your southern Thailand trip. It’s hard to believe that the food in the south is spicier than what you usually eat. This training meal sure looked delicious 🤤
Training is good training is good :-) ha ha, no joke though, food in the south is definitely more spicy. Even Thai people know to caution each other when taking a trip to the South :-) it’s pretty impressive just thinking about that right?

Hey P Jack!!! Man, I am all about the fish down here, mostly in curry though. I have never been a big fan of seafood (Im sure its cheaper here tho, probably right!).
Nice one Barb!! P denotes someone older than me, but also someone in the same generation. I would call aunt or uncle someone of my parents generation. ( and the opposite would be the N, you see that many times in the videos, that will be someone same generation but younger than me)
I can listen to you all day while eating. How I wish I could see and visit you someday. Thank you for sharing your biking adventures and praising Jesus Christ. Keep safe and be well. Regards to Li 😊
So nice of you to always say things like this Aj Layno, I am honored. As always. Whew, well yes I am keeping on keeping on right now, recognizing daily both the blessings and also the responsibilities, and praying for the strength and wisdom that should (hopefully) accompany my actions during these days!
Southern Thailand spicy food not for me Joel! But I did enjoy watching you enjoying all that food! I guess I’d better get used to that as you just said you’ll be spending some time in the South! 😆
Hiiii Florence!! Well, cool to read your message, and you know it’s not all spicy food down here, there are a few dishes you can half, and of course you can just order the food from Central Thailand pretty much anywhere you go :-)
@@JoelsTastyRide If you get as far south as Phuket and vacation areas, I think many including myself would be interested in the recovery of the area destroyed by that Christmas tsunami. It was all so horrifying and I never thought things would ever be normal again, but as you know the people of Thailand are ultra resilient.❤️
Hi First Tracks! Well. This team would be second level if you would, for Thailand, and Thailand only has one top level team. That team would still be one if not two levels away from competing to even enter a bid for a Tour de France position, so basically, no. Not even one single chance ever, I wonder if I will ever meet anyone who is strong enough to be on a Tour de France team in my whole life. That’s how strong those guys are :-)
Bro!!!! Hahah Team Nich you got it man ( Yet another race canceled so it’s just more and more training, that’s OK with me though :-) plenty of time to be “ready.” Whatever that means for club racing)

Has to be one of the best snacks on planet earth. I ate those growing up as a kid, bhajias also (another North Indian snack), I am happy to remember this, thank you for the memories :-)
Aloha Joel! Great video you 2!! Stay Blessed!!
Hey, thanks as always brother! Hope today is treating you well Scott :) Thanks for yesterday MAN, as always, what a Sunday :)

Super excited for the southern adventures! Have an amazing time 🙏

Sounds great! Menno, so cool to have you here man (did I notice your name in the livestream the other day???)

Jane :-) hi, wishing you well today, how is everything going?
Wow! another great adventure Joe💖
Thanks again Theresa, always taking time to write us :) Much love!
I just love this open-minded trio… Joel, Mark and Sonny…
Their excitement and their enthusiasm to learn about new cultures and to journey into new culinary adventures are simply contagious.
What a beautiful legacy that Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain have started and have left behind…
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
Mark Twain
Joel we cannot wait for your next journey and we will be there with you in spirit. Miss Biggs 💓
👍 agree! Always eager to see what’s next !
Yoooo yo :) :) ALways cool to hear these awesome shouts of support - amazing - really!
Yahoooooooooo Max, haha are you secretly also Miss Biggs?!?!?
@@JoelsTastyRide lol, no Joel just sending my love to her. She is awesome on our Saturday BruCrew
Take care.
Hey man hey man :-) it was good to see you pop in yesterday, and I am still daily enjoying your Instagram deliciousness… Hey man I hope you are well today :-)
We will not be having any festivities, I don’t think anywhere in Thailand actually, but it’s OK. We are still lucky and blessed to have good health and of course… As you can see :-)… Quite a few things on the table to drool over.
Man, sending my love to you and your family, bless you and bless everyone with nothing but the most wonderful memories of grandma.
All those dishes look amazing!
Mark man!!! What a day. What a lunch! Pouring rain outside, NO better place to be "stuck" for the afternoon :)
Thank you for sharing another tasty adventure.
Beautiful day to you, another cool comment and I wish you well today :-)
Keep up the great content bro.
Appreciate it G Wayne, like your name too (my middle name is Wayne!!!) Yo!!!
Hello Joel, wonderful video! The food looks delicious. I wonder if there would be a way to cut down on background white noise?
What a cool bit of experience right here Valentin, thank you for sharing this, glad to have a fellow Catfish lover right here in the comments.:)
May I ask where you live? I know there are species of this fish all over the world but, yeah always curious… Have a great day
@@JoelsTastyRide I live in Switzerland where the Wels catfish is native. They can grow up to 3 meters long. Have a good one.

Hiiii Mylah! What are you up to today? What are you investigating flavor wise or otherwise?
I really want to try those pea eggplants!

I get close to food and not taste it and I will gain 5 lbs or 2Kg.Great video and good luck in your adventure in the south,
“just close to the food “ 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Hahahahhaha
Awesome video joel
Jose!!! Always awesome bro, hope thing are well today!
แกงไตปลา ไงโจ that curry with bamboo shoot and pea egg plant . It's One of the favorite of Mark southern thai foods.
I like the mackerel dish, I wish you could give a recipe. We have alot of places to get stuff for it.
Web search.

delicious looking dishes. the briyani rice certainly got my mouth watering. glad to hear tiger soup is actually a beef soup also.
Yep! This is exactly why I record with the go Pro from the side of the table
I offered to do this for Mark many times and he was not interested, it’s just a different style I guess
Joel, which app do you use to edit and upload your vlogs please?
Hi Nikki :-) good to hear from you again, I don’t use any apps actually, only the computer is strong enough, powerful enough to edit video like this. And you will need a DSLR camera, probably some kind of microphone with a wind cover, and that’s it for the basics.
@@JoelsTastyRide Thank you Joel, Let me rephrase my question, how do you edit your vlogs and upload them? You are such a professional in vlogging.
This video made me hungry

Thank you!!
Joel, I can’t believe you had to train yourself with heat tolerance for your southern Thailand trip. It’s hard to believe that the food in the south is spicier than what you usually eat. This training meal sure looked delicious 🤤
Awww, I just got to the part of the video where you talked about Li joining you on your trip 😢
Training is good training is good :-) ha ha, no joke though, food in the south is definitely more spicy. Even Thai people know to caution each other when taking a trip to the South :-) it’s pretty impressive just thinking about that right?
Sending love your way
Howdie Li & Joel ..Mmmmm Oxtail soup😋. I had to replay it over and over as Oxtail should be it’s own food group🤤🤣

I hope so too Choua, praying for that!
It's good that you are on your own now
Hi Abdul, thats cool man, yea for maybe... hmm 15 years now :) ? Im not sure
Next taget you should get some seafood. Seafood in South is cheaper than another country.
Hey P Jack!!! Man, I am all about the fish down here, mostly in curry though. I have never been a big fan of seafood (Im sure its cheaper here tho, probably right!).
Joel, Ive noticed that many of the people featured have the letter 'P' infront of their names. Why is that?
Nice one Barb!!
P denotes someone older than me, but also someone in the same generation. I would call aunt or uncle someone of my parents generation. ( and the opposite would be the N, you see that many times in the videos, that will be someone same generation but younger than me)
I can listen to you all day while eating. How I wish I could see and visit you someday. Thank you for sharing your biking adventures and praising Jesus Christ. Keep safe and be well. Regards to Li 😊

If you get as far south as Phuket and vacation areas, I think many including myself would be interested in the recovery of the area destroyed by that Christmas tsunami. It was all so horrifying and I never thought things would ever be normal again, but as you know the people of Thailand are ultra resilient.❤️

Hi Joel. Would your team go to the Tour de France?
Probably No 🤣😂
Hi First Tracks!
