Thanks, Connor. My life started to change when I consciously began a practice of gratitude. I started to see again that there was so much in my life that I should be grateful for. Those red cars full of grace keep coming, and I keep counting my blessings.
I feel like some of why watching media makes people depressed and doom spiral is that; people in fix it mind set are presented with problems far from their natural sphere. A worlds worth of problems you can’t effect. That’s why being more selective about protecting yourself from certain exposure helps depression. Love your words thank you bro.
I used to become frustrated with what seemed like toxic positivity, too. But I prefer Viktor Frankl’s term Tragic Optimism. Yes, the tragic triad exists - pain (that which is done to us), guilt (that which is done by us), and death are inevitable human experiences. But they all offer grace: pain invites us to into the mysterious grace of forgiveness, guilt invites us into the grace of confession, repentance and absolution, and death invites us to gratitude for this moment because life is short and we are finite beings. So yes, suffering is real. But so are forgiveness, repentance, and resurrection! And Viktor also reminds us that when we can’t control what’s happening around us, the last of all human dignities is the ability to choose how we will respond to what’s happening. The freedom to respond is our response-ability.
I started keeping a gratitude journal in August last year and soon realized how amazing my life is! When I am faced with anything negative, I always look for the sliver lining and I always find it. There is so much more good to appreciate than negative, you just have to dig deeper!
It's like the law of attraction. What you look for or focus on is what you're going to get back in your life. At times life will bring you down but try focusing on the things that are going right instead of the things that are not. You can have 10 things going right but if you focus on the one thing that's not .... Appreciate the things that are going right you'll feel better.
I get your point and I agree with it, however on a grand scale, like if you zoom out, you'll see that the world is falling apart indeed but it is the people with optimism and faith who bring hope
Very true, the world looks darker. BUT, our exposure is greater to the problems all over the world. Looking back through history, things are actually better now... we are just exposed to more of the negative over the good in the world.

As we are an image of god, I strongly believe that we also have the power to create things through faith.

We often need friends that are different and can see things in a different light than us to help us. There was nothing 'wrong' with you or how you saw it, you are a problem solver and your buddy is the solution's guy - I am also the problem solver and I see problems all the time and I need a friend to help me look in the 'solution's direction' - we always need someone to help us and glad that you did! Your life is much greater now because of him!

First of all 'awareness' to ask the fundamental questions like 'who am I?'...begins a journey of awakening to our inner self. Yet not before we blindly follow this physical world where ego's roller coaster drive for materialism, status, success and even spiritual seeking and enlightenment eventually feels like a trap. And only then can we wake up and speak of these things that are not falling apart.. with clarity...

Don’t forget, God wants to hear from you! Be honest with Him and ask for His help. Even in the simplest ways. I had forgotten to ask Him for everything, even simple help, faith, wisdom, strength. Once I heard His reminder to ask, I began asking and He began sending me those things. Most of the time help came through His Word and relationships with other believers. I pray that God will guide you and empower you to follow that guidance. Praying for endless blessings over you! ❤

Being optimistic seems like a choice we should make, but it is on the same level as the choice of being a pessimist : we are still eating from the forbidden fruit, the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. This reality, this world, is dualistic. The solution is to recognize and realize our spirituality as being ONE with God, in order to live and thrive in His dimension, a dimension of non-duality, where God is our substance and supply. In other words, our substance and supply are no-more considered as an effect of "What-I-do", but are realized as the manifestations of the Grace of God and His pure love for us.
How can one have hope for the future with an incurable progressive neuro disease that is taking their abilities to function and care for themselves? 😢😢😢
As a caregiver to my humanity I encourage them that there will be an end to this life and suffering. Their hope and future begins.. on the other side. A beautiful deliverance from this life of sickness and death in this life. Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

I think people are naturally more optomistic or negative and that becomes a habit of thinking. You can change habits with practice.
