I am mainly a Revit user, but my boss recommended that the team get familiarized with ArchiCAD for possible projects using the program. I came across this 30 minute tutorial, and it really helped as introduction to ArchiCAD as it included quick keyboard commands and fork flow. I am looking forward for more ArchiCAD tutorials. This channel is worth subscribing.
I am about to start using Archicad, jumping from Revit. How easy are you finding the process? At first sight, Archicad seems easier, but starting from 0 is always scary.
@Aphorism89 I couldn't agree more. Shifting from one program to another is quite scary, but you can consider it as an addition to your skill sets. Good thing about these videos/tutorials, you can watch it and at the same time try it hands on. Slowly you'll have a sense of the program's work flow.
This is awesome! I would love to see a similar start-to-finish tutorial in Revit and Vectorworks to be able to compare workflows. I'm sure there are many of us that arrive at your videos when deciding which platform to move towards. It's so difficult to get objective information comparing platforms. Thanks for your efforts!

Would love to hear your thoughts on VW now that you've been using it for 9 months! It's seems like ArchiCAD is the most designer-oriented and visual/graphic workflow, and Revit is more technical-oriented (lots of clicking), but I feel much less familiar with VW for architecture, even after completing the Core Certification course. We are trying to decide between the three platforms right now...
@@ericscavetta2311 Hey Eric, as our current company use lot pre-made architectural models(units or townhouses), Revit seems handle these very well through links or shared coordinates, if for custom made home or commercial design, you probably prefer Archicad. I almost gave up VW already

For some beginners that are not smart enough, I don't think it's gonna work that much like me; for through experience I went through for beginners like me the way people train themselves up viewing it on film clip is not always the same way people train up at any college campus. I think to give tutorial to train viewers out there, you need to first put yourself in their shoes; and to do that you need to first know that you were once like one of them not knowing from a to b what's what and what's not and what's next. Think for a moment that when you're giving tutorial to people out there, you know it works for you but do you think for a moment to know that when they view your tutorial it may not work for them. Then find out why, then do it on your software and then provide extra tutorial support in why it's not working for them. It's like saying mate, 'you gotta learn to walk before you crawl.' So, when you give tutorial don't teach them how to walk first, teach them how to crawl then how to walk and lastly teach them how to run and then they can be sprinters. I'm not a sprinter like you and I am certain some of the others out there are not either. If you jump the gun then not everyone's gonna figure it out. If you believe you have what it takes to be a better teacher then you have what it takes to be one.
I think that in my opinion, maybe I would prefer to give private face to face tutorial so that way you can see where they're going wrong; for on film clip you cannot see where they're going wrong and it's probably hard for them to share their feedback to get support from whoever it is that's giving online tutorial support. I don't mean to dishearten you for I am not an expert teacher in it, not everyone's the same. I am wondering, maybe there are people out there that become expert teachers giving online teaching like you. If there is and you believe you have what it takes to give tutorial support online then you will become a better teacher. As I said, I don't mean to dishearten you. But for some encouragement there is an old saying for people to say that there is a place for everyone in this world; and there is a place for you in teaching people. Maybe there is such a thing for people to give tutorial support online the same way it is for giving tutorial support face to face. If there is, you're on your way to becoming a better teacher doing it online. You have a bright future ahead of you and you're becoming better and better all the time; for the earlier an individual picks up a talent earlier in life the better it is. I only say this just so to offer some wisdom and encouragement if I have, happy tutoring.

In the first part adding the levels, I was so confused because you have the ground and first floor.. but then I eventually found out that it's just an Aussie thing lol.. Great tutorial!

Can you please make a video showing how to draw columns that go into the ground for a suspended floor one-meter AGL? Say we are designing a house to be built on land that is subject to flooding and we must elevate the ground floor by say 1 metre, then pick it up from there as a normal design!
Somewhat of a challenging detail to show widewide. Every site will be different including soil types so you always have a different footing size and system. Depending on the climate it could also be a suspended timber or concrete slab, near endless possibilities. But will consider how to incorporate

I'm starting my first year at UNI in September (I'm about to study architecture and urbanism) and I have to decide for Revit or Archicad. I've been watching thousands of videos and reading reviews but I still cannot decide. I know it's quite individual and depends on personal preference but can someone who is already working in this field objectively tell me which of the two is used more in "real life"? Also if I decide for Revit but need to open an Archicad file is it possible to open in Revit or are the two programmes not compatible ?
hey david ,i wanna learn archicad as well, i come from revit but i miss so basic things like flipping walls with space bar editing slabs walls etc were easier,can you make a tutorial for those revit users who wants to learn archicad as well.
Actually editing roofs/slabs in Archicad is way easier:) And yes, Archicad has "1-click PDF" feature for saving door/windows full specification with real units sketches with dimensions inside the document.

ArchiCad is my main architecture software that I use. I learned it first, in university. But I find now that a lot of architecture firms asks for potential employees to know Revit. I'd better get on with it. I honestly love ArchiCad now. What architecture software do any of you recommend as most asked about in the market? I want to learn some new software. So far I know ArchiCad, some AutoCad (but I hate it), Photoshop, Lumion and a bit of Twinmotion.
How do you get a clerestory window to match up with a side clerestory angles window on a skillion roof no frame on the join? Also what computer do you use for archicad and twinmotion? PC, Mac? Would like a breakdown of what CPU? My iMac crashes! Thanks
I never went for Mac, instead use powerful gamer's laptop (despite not gaming at all) with powerful CPU & great graphic card & added some RAM , big capacity SSD keeping all data on the D disk, + working with 2 external back up hard drives, and a big screen connected with HDMI at home, looking forward buying a second screen.

Do more of these videos, a little bit slower with more details. Be like the bulkan Architect for Archicad, it’s way better than a clickbait videos. Btw it’s way easier to learn Revit only because there are a lot of wonderful channels teaching it, it’s your time to do the same for Archicad
I doubt it if you ever bother to check comments, I have left a request a year ago, and you simply did not bother to reply, let alone help. However, it would be nice if you found a way to show people how to use Archicad, slowly, running through things like a madman, is not the way to teach, but from the beginning, mate, and how the drawings are actually developed, how to show columns that go into the soil by 2 meters or so, as well as how to draw a subfloor structure, how to we draw bearers and floor joists, and the floor itself. That kind of thing would be helpful, but of course, if all you are interested in is making money through any video you upload on the Internet, then, you would be the wroing person to ask for help.
Hi Franklin, Apologies if I have no seen your comment as I do endeavour to reply to as many as possible. I do not do this for the money, if you knew how much I make from TH-cam that would be very clear. I am creating content that the wider community has requested and asked for. There are many examples of archicad tutorials on my channel all ranging in skill level. If none of those are for you, then I will continue to try find new and innovative ways to inspire and teach at the same time. This is not a construction documentation channel, nor will it ever be. Might have something to do with your template. Try downloading the international template direct from the archicad website :)

To my knowledge the industry uses mainly: archicad, revit, sketchup, 3ds max and vray

There is no Australian Project Template? Do I download it from somewhere or is it meant to be there?
I'm assuming it is only available for Australian users? But you can use whatever template you have as default. The basis are the same

1. Surfaces are region specific so they may be different to what I showcase.
2. Make sure you have all hot fixes installed as this could be a bug.

how to see door and window size details in floor plan view as your video showing sizes ?
You've either got a graphic override hiding them or you need to turn them on it the settings under 2D representation, text set to mm x mm

when I was using archicad , I used artlantis for rendering. IS twinmotion new ? or better? why not use artlantis ? Great vide
Twinmotion is new, and faster to produce better quality renders compared to artlantis (in my opinion)
Twinmotion is way better. Also Lumion. And they are easier to use than Artlantis...

Click and hold the scroll wheel, this is the easiest way to move around. Otherwise it might be a glitch in your software
I doubt it if you ever bother to check comments, I have left a request a year ago, and you simply did not bother to reply, let alone help.
However, it would be nice if you found a way to show people how to use Archicad, slowly, running through things like a madman, is not the way to teach, but from the beginning, mate, and how the drawings are actually developed, how to show columns that go into the soil by 2 meters or so, as well as how to draw a subfloor structure, how to we draw bearers and floor joists, and the floor itself. That kind of thing would be helpful, but of course, if all you are interested in is making money through any video you upload on the Internet, then, you would be the wroing person to ask for help.

I do not do this for the money, if you knew how much I make from TH-cam that would be very clear.
I am creating content that the wider community has requested and asked for. There are many examples of archicad tutorials on my channel all ranging in skill level. If none of those are for you, then I will continue to try find new and innovative ways to inspire and teach at the same time.
This is not a construction documentation channel, nor will it ever be. So if you're looking for exact ways how to document a project, you won't find that here.
