Ping Pong analysis! I really like your channel and the topics you discuss. I wish your channel existed when I was younger, I needed it.

Thank you. I tend to bounce around on topics but I'm glad you've enjoyed them. Ping Pong is very near and dear to my heart. Every time I watch it, I come away with something new either about the show or myself.

Great video as always. It hit a bit different for me, tbh. Without oversharing, I’d like to get into cosplay someday, but lately I’ve had a massive fear of failure when it comes to the likelihood of my cosplay not meeting a certain standard or receiving negative comments online. It’s helpful to have a reminder that the goal isn’t to “win” but instead to have fun doing what I enjoy, and that it might be time to step back if that goal is no longer achievable.
Also man I kind of want to watch Ping Pong the Animation now, lol.

I've had and do have similar hang-ups around cosplay. I've always got to get over the worry that I'm failing to meet a standard or someone will be negative to me. It's always fun afterward though and I hope you can enjoy it if you do decide to give it a shot.

@@RickiHirsch Very late responding to this but I appreciate it a ton. I’m glad that it’s one of those things that’s fun once you’re out of your head, but yeah, escaping that mindset is definitely a struggle. Thank you!

Really enjoyed this one. Like you said, it can seem obvious, but is always good to hear this reminder. I definitely found my mind wandering a couple times during this video to question why I compete in some of the games I do, why I stopped playing some games that I did, and what reasons I've kept going. It's an always evolving thing, so my mindset then and now won't be where I am in the future. Again, good to be reminded every now & then and evaluate how I can accept my failures and find the enjoyment.

This is video hits very close to home. When I was in college, I was super competitive in online fighting games, specifically SSF4. At my height, I was one of the top Cammy players in SSF4. However, I didn't handle loss well: I screamed and shouted. I even got so mad I broke a DS3. After the updates to SSF4, I lost my edge and got into many slumps but I kept playing it. I felt like that was the only way I could get validation in the genre. I still did that, even with SFV. I got gold rank in SFV, lost it, gained back, etc...After getting gold in SFV again on my PC account, I kind of just gave up. I wasn't really having fun with the game anymore, just playing to try to get a rank. Ironically, I started playing Tekken 7, and in turn, I started up those old habits again. Its hard to un-train this behavior but I do try to take breaks when its too much. Thank you for the video.
Also, side note, I have question on Uma: So all of these horse girls are based on real horses? So I know about Goldship but I've seen a horse girl from this show that has a lab coat with beakers over a Japanese school outfit. What is her deal?

It's a struggle. I still do the same thing with the goofy color ranks in arcsys games. I know they don't mean anything but it's hard not to get frustrated when you're losing and see your dot changing color. Just gotta keep reminding myself to focus on whether I'm having fun.
RE: horses. Yep, they're all based on real horses and named after them unless the horses owners wouldn't let them use the name. That sounds like Agnes Tachyon. She's the genius super scientist character running better through chemistry.

the natural followup to this of "how do i enjoy the thing for its own sake?" has unfortunately not yielded even the idea of an answer for me yet and trying to figure out what i enjoyed in the first place seems equally unworkable. but it is a good video anyway.
