I would have expected a wolf to be more vocal than a dog but in the videos I have watched it seems that Harvey the Dog does most of the howling, while Kane the Wolf just has a growl which sounds more like a tractor engine 🤣🤣 I love these videos..... these two canine characters bring a smile to my face every time 😁😁

Sometimes I wonder how ancient humans would've approached the common ancestor of wolves and dogs that we domesticated. I mean, they're huge and growl viciously and have very big teeth. But then I see videos from people like this, just messing around with them and I'm like yeah ok, that would do it. Just giving them food and annoying them until they like you is a pretty solid strategy tbh.
It might've started without any plan from either part. They'd propably get scraps from whatever humans killed and in return they'd hang nearby humans and alert them whenever anything dangerous approaches.
There's a book called "The First Domestication: How Wolves and Humans Coevolved." it posits wolves adopted humans first and then we pulled a reverse uno. I always kind of liked that theory.

Normal people are probably scared of the angry growling but when I play with my dog she sounds like she’s fighting for her life, then you stop for a second and she wants to go right back to playing with her tail wagging. Watching this I can see why Husky owners also like Shiba Inus. Same snarky personality, smaller package! My Shiba also has a happy growl and nibbles on my hand when he really likes how I'm scratching him. It's a lot less scary in a 25lb dog.

My Grandma used to go back to the Rez where I was raised to visit. She came home with a little fuzzy rolly polly puppy one year. As the puppy grew it became very clear that she wasn't just a Malamute. It turned out that her mother was Husky but nobody knew who the father was but it wasn't uncommon for a wolf to sneak into the Rez and we'd end up with half breed wolf/husky puppies. She grew up to be a magnificent animal and my best friend. Her name was "Woof" and she was a sweetie.
