    10:40 really wish that Govee would streamline the camera to serve as multiple signal (with cable splitter or 2 output running out of the control box) for different products rather than selling each with a camera. Imagine you have to put the 3rd camera underneath your TV to sync the Glide, that would look silly in my opinion.

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Definitely agree! A workaround absolutely needs to be figured out, because I wholeheartedly draw the line at two cameras, LOL. I think what Govee ultimately needs to figure out is how to leverage a single camera via the app to group and sync multiple products according to the captured image of that single camera. I know this is possible, because I've seen this technology in action with other apps, using the camera on your cellphone to track colors for multiple lightstrips and smart bulbs.

      I would like a 100$ hdmi sync box just like Philips hue but not 229.99 where with special adapters you can plug the glide, flow pro, led strips, aura and many more, and yo iui could wirelessly sync to other products.

    govee clearly trying to smack nanoleaf out of the water and the same goes for lifx beam. the glide looks more elagent then the beem due it's thicker build. I have no doubt that govee will improve this product later on besides features.

    Govee is killing it! I remember back a couple of years ago when they first started entering the scene as an unknown, but cheap alternative. Now, not only are they far cheaper than the competition, they offer near and outright superior quality to big names out there. They're outright destroying Nanoleaf (app and smart control is so trash, especially at the price point), Lifx and Phillips Hue! Govee is so easy to use, setup, control and you get more for far less. I really hope they stick to this trajectory and keep the prices cheap and the products great, unlike some of the competition that started that way but got greedy. Great review by the way, love that setup 👍

    • @MrTekSuggest

      Appreciate you your comment man! I review so many their products, because I genuinely love them. And I definitely hope that this trajectory continues forward as well.

      Idk Govee has hexagons now which would be a direct competiton to nanoleafs hexagons. So I'm gonna compare those.
      While Govee is indeed cheaper, it's not by much and in fact the leafs dropped so low here in the last couple days, that the leafs are cheaper then Govee ever was. At MSRP I'm talking 1-3€ per Panel price difference depending on how many you wanna get. Since Nanoleaf comes in 5, 9 and 15 panels, Govee comes with 10. So obviously more leafs are cheaper.
      So even at msrp it's not that much difference between the two, Govee panles however are also a fair bit smaller, so I'd say dollar per square inch, Govee might actually be more expensive. I give Govee the credit for using smoother transitions with the RBGIC stuff which does look really damn incredible, so it got that going for itself against nanoleaf. However I'm not quite the fan of the govee design, it has those thick outlines around each panel, which is probably a necessity for the design. the nanoleafs however have a really really small edge and only the corners have a bit of a gray space. That said, the way they are curved makes them looks even a bit interessting. In fact, I've seen them setup in a way where the edges give it a nice contrast. That's hard to recreate with a static honeycomb grid. To achieve the edge pattern it used hexagons in conjuction with triangles, something which govee doesn't have. Nanoleaf doesn't really have a Glide alternative though, I mean they do have the Lines now, but the two aren't really comparable just because they're strips of light, they do different things. The Glide is a really awesome thing though which is rather unique!
      The Govee Panels are quite a bit thicker though, which means it won't be as flush to the wall as the nanoleafs are, which is taking away from the optics of the entire thing. Plus you connect different panels from center to center, which is just no bueno when you wanna expand your design. For Nanoleafs, I just slide another connector underneath and I can just expand and expand without worries. One thing that might work in Govees favor, or it might not, is that the connection cable is flexible and a bit longer then neccessary. Which means I can quite easily weave them around corners to another wall or the ceiling. I need separate cables to accomplish that with the leafs. However, the leafs are guaranteed to be flush with each other, the Govee panels might have a gap or even overlap a bit on the sides if you don't apply them perfectly. I mean, you may do that on purpose, have them a bit offset from each other to reduce the uniform grid, but it's still a hassle to get it right, unless you embrace the absolute chaos. So the connection of the panels is wonky and not easily expandable, if you want the option to have a bit more freedom it's there, but if you want it more uniformly, it adds a layer of complexity to the whole installation.
      That said, Govee's connection just works and while I didn't have much problems with the nanoleafs, I constantly see people having trouble with it. Plus Govees App look WAY nicer.
      I do like where Govee is heading, the connectivtiy and app is amazing, the smooth color "fade" is just incredible and makes it stand out quite a bit.
      However, claiming it's a "far cheaper" and "destroying" the competition isn't a fair assessment in my mind. Besides the app is just an software update away from being on par, so they might catch up in that aspect in the future. The connectivity might as well be fixed with an firmware update and even if it does need better hardware, if nanoleaf is set on fixing that, they might just release a seperate controller with the better connectivity. So in theory, the main problems with the leafs is fixable without the need to throw out what you already have.
      That said, I'm doubting nanoleaf is gonna fix this any time soon to be honest. Hopefully Govee pushes harder and even further and force Nanoleaf to get their shit together.

Btw I just installed the Immersion RGBIC to my new 65inch TCL Series 6 panel and it's amazing! Can't wait to get this light bar in my hands! MrTek Suggest Reviews,
    Just bought the Govee Lyra floor lamp after watching your review. So cool! And the Glide Wall Light looks amazing as well. I noticed that Govee now has a Glide kit that has 8 segments and 4 corners, which seems to fix one of the shortcomings you mention in this video. Have you had a chance to try this new expanded setup? It looks like all 12 pieces will light up in this kit with just the one power supply and it has something called the "control box," which I'm not sure if it's an actual remote. Would be cool. Interested to see what you think if you had a chance to check it out.
    Have a great one!

    Great video my guy! It really is a shame that they don't have expansion kits to add more bars. I am curious though, if I were to purchase two of these, can I sync them up and have them be playing the same programmed "scene" in unison?

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, there are some workarounds for that. You can create routines for your voice assistant to trigger a specific scene for both separate glide units. You can also schedule them to come on in unison. Grouping them in this Smarts Tab will allow you to change single solid colors and switch them on and off simultaneously, But the option to swap scenes simultaneously is unvailable just yet

    Just to be clear before I'm buying this, If I buy 2 and put them near each other, they would not be synced to each other or copy the same color patterns as the other? Like when the light patterns glow from one end to to the other, could you get 2 or more separate ones lined up above one another to sequence the same light show?

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there. The wall lights operate independently at the moment. But with that said, you can leverage the smarts tab within the Govee home app so that you can group them together and change the colors and power on and off simultaneously. Scene modes need to be controlled independently. However you are able to create custom routines using Alexa, for example, that will trigger a desired scene for each of the units simultaneously. Did that answer your question?

    4. The app's "Workshop" function allows an almost endless amount of programming so you're not confined to using the regular DIY scenes

Do keep in mind though, if Govee goes the hdmi box route, many of the perks that gives them an advantage over hue would no longer exist: Ability to use with smart TV Apps, to use with hdmi 2.1 at 120hz, and freedom from DRM restricted Content which is becoming more of an issue with big providers such as Netflix and Hulu

    Probably a silly question but how do you control govee things via Bluetooth w/o wifi? I work in a school and would like to put these in my office but we don't have access to the wifi on our phones so I thought this wouldnt work but... If they're is a way with Bluetooth only, that could be a game changer for my situation.

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! You can definitely use the wall light as normally without Wi-Fi. You will not be able to operate the unit remotely, but as long as you are in the vicinity Bluetooth will operate the unit without issue.

    It's good to see govee going after other companies in the market space. Lifx software is garbage, Hue hardware is garbage. They need to get the camera to work multiple devices, or eliminate it all together for an hdmi box. I'd love to see them go after Nanoleaf next.....#moreGoveetvproducts

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, how large is the stage that you’re working with? In general I would say probably not the best fit for this product. Sure these would look fantastic as a backdrop around a stage setting, but in terms of actually providing adequate luminescence. Yeah, probably not the best fit for the Glide.

    👏🏻 Thanks For the review. Nicely done. I ordered 2 today. I agree I’d like to be able to sync all the lights together. Anyways I GOT MY CX!!! Been playing around with it. Love it but yours in these videos still looks better haha! Question do you use a sound bar surround system? I am going to look at your setting for your tv for gaming. I tried the HGIG and the picture seems to go yellow or dull compared to leaving that setting on? Do you leave it on in your videos or do you switch to Vivid. I am playing around with it we will see how it ends up. Love the videos bro, stay strong..

      Well I just did the Sonos surround hoping it will satisfy my audio file ears. I know it won’t because when you down size like this it just doesn’t happen but I think it will be very good for what it is. I’ll let you know

      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Overpriced I think at $71 . You can buy a 32ft outdoor RGBIC from govee for $60 and it comes with remote and is able to be used on the app also and they are sick at night time when your out on your deck jamming to some great tunes and the different things you can do are simply amazing .they have great products but a little pricy in my opinion and with only 1 corner . So come on GOVEE give your fans a break

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, I hear ya. Sounds like you know how to have a good time! The increased price over light strips is most likely due to the material. I do get the sense that the wall lights are a bit more durable and I love the heck out of Govee strips. The closest thing to these with completing brands will be over $100, as well. But yep, I sure wouldn’t mind seeing this initial list price a bit lower and a 2nd corner piece included as well!
