  • Teens from across the country will be opening their A-Level results from 8am this morning. This cohort of students are the ones that have suffered most as a result of COVID. And some students across the country had not taken public exams before their A-levels. We’re live at Wilberforce College, a college in a socially deprived area of Hull. Their students are less likely to be going to Russell group universities, and most decide to go to Hull. Also have BTEC students. #alevelresultsday

      University rankings do not matter for medicine, there’s no benefits (Zero to the point where your comment is poor advice) to rejecting the place from Sunderland and applying to a ”better“ university in this case.

      @@fos1451 there isn’t, med schools and universities in general don’t look at grades alone.
      Declining the university place would mean having to go through the whole process (interviews, UCAT, PS etc) again. There are people with a clean sweep of A*s who have literally been rejected from med school (as in they have no offers whatsoever).
      There’s no benefit to looking at rankings when going to med school, *zero*.

      Im a student and yeah covid has massively impacted me. My entire year 9 - 11 feels non existent. I only remember year 7 - the end of 8. Then I just got a bit of year 11 then GCSES. My school was also a sixth form so I continued going for the past 2 years. Theres a very different feel to school after covid, not for the better. We probably shouldve gone in a lot more than we did. At the time I was so happy because I didnt have to go to school, but looking back at the end of year 13 Im upset I missed so much.

  • @jonsalisbury

    I don't know how the school staff/ teachers allowed that to happen. The school gets all the results 24 hours in advance. They could have avoided the humiliation of the DDC guy. But maybe he deserved it and they wanted to teach him a final lesson before he left...perhaps that's why they were crying (with laughter) in the back ground.

    • @CCP_Operative

      A Grade D or E is a pass.
      Because it determines university places

    • @johnneil4777
      @johnneil4777 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CCP_Operative I know but an exam that almost no one fails is a poor reflection on a countries education system. In Scotland where the A level equivalent is the Advanced Higher (actually slightly more difficult than A level) has a pass rate of between 75 to 80% ( Graded A-D). Meaning around 20 to 25% fail the exam. These people usually still manage to find a place at University or College.

    • @teodoraraducanu4
      @teodoraraducanu4 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      because it still matters what grade you get…? who cares about overall passing rate, no one relevant asks you if you “passed your a levels”, they ask what grade you got. why would passing rate matter?

    • @rosenmoons
      @rosenmoons หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      because in most often passing the exam means nothing. for a lot of courses, you can't go to uni with ABC, so that's as effective as getting DDD. it isn't about passing it's about the grade itself
