Woot! Woot! H'ray! Congrats on the bees repopulatin'! Vicki's flower beds is just getting ready to explode here. They came and dug the hole for the house last week, will be putting in the forms and getting the inspector out to pour the footings tomorrow, walls Friday. Vicki is beside herself. Ain't seen her this excited. Ever! Not even when she met me! Hope all is well, have fun, don't git caught!
Hi Gary. We have a fair few people around here that keep hives and wild colonies. I see swarms flying around sometimes pretty incredible and so noisy! They always return to old colonies and empty hives. There's a place that has destroyed colonies 5 times now because they couldn't be removed and new swarms just keep arriving and starting over again year on year. I found 1 colony last weekend in a building that have now been rehomed in a hive.
I think they swarmed, but made a new queen. The queen we had was marked with a dab of pink paint and easy to spot. She's gone. I didn't see a queen in there, but if there's larva, there must be one, unless there was still some eggs. I don't think there was, but the eggs are really small and hard to see. I looks good right now at least!
I wonder what happened to the two para-plane flyers that used to buzz my farm now that you mention it. I reckon they just got too old or busy...or they wrecked. I saw one go down and broke the pilots legs.

It's a new one. The old one was marked with a drop of pink paint. This Queen has to be one they made. Strange how that works!

They do! Really they are more hassle than they are worth, but we enjoy having them.

I watch a video called Hanging with Paw Paw and he sets up bee traps and uses that oil as well
