I think Spamton would be a Tsukumogami, those objects that gain life and turn into evil monsters after being left neglected for years and years. it fits his backstory well
I love how you made him wear a purple robe, yet also wearing a farming hat. Purple robe was only worn by those who hold power and fame, yet in stories, those who wore these hats were usually of poor or lower class. The two contradicting elements perfectly fits here
Fun Fact: The reason purple is associated with wealth is because while many dyes could be extracted from plants or other sources one could cultivate, purple dye was only really available from a dozen or so species of certain shellfish (most famously snails in Rome). So getting purple dye was an excruciatingly long and arduous process of harvesting thousands of these shellfish just for a few ounces of dye. A robe dyed completely purple likely cost a small fortune until more advanced methods and synthetic options were available.

In Feudal Japan, merchants and salespeople were generally seen as the lowest class, as they were seeen as contributing the least to society. It's quite fitting for someone like Spamton, who is no BIG SHOT when we first meet him.

It's fascinating how honestly the main focus of this video is the music, and yet looking at the comments it's clear the image just stole the show. And reading more and more comments making interpretations of every element, from japanese folklore to the purple clothing to the hat, I don't know how much of all this details were truly planned and thought out by the artist but it is certainly evocative if it causes everyone to get their own interpretation of it.

@@J_Crane Ok, now I'm curious about something. Did Medieval Eastern Asia have purple dyes? I know that in Europe, purple dye came from the Murex Snail and only one port had figured that out and monopolised the trade. Did China import purple dye from the same source, or did they have their own supply? Or was it just too expensive to import all that way and they just went without the colour purple in their clothing. Curse my Euro-centric education, I know nothing about Asian trade beyond Silk and Ceramics :/
I have a feeling that if Spamton was part of Japanese folklore, he would be an oni disguised as an old man in need, trying to scam/manipulate people into helping him. His [BIG SHOGUN] form would have him being in a giant suit of Samurai armor he stole from a fallen warrior.

@@Evenvagolor but originally in china the tengu/tian gou were literally that, doge in the sky. I don't understand when Japan found out about it they retconned it as those Pinocchio nose birbs
Once upon a time, there was an unfortunate merchant living in Japan. He looked like a short old man wearing glasses with purple and yellow glasses and smoking a small kiseru. He often carried a katana with him, on the handle of which the inscription [[FREEDOM]] was engraved. At that time, the merchant suffered constant setbacks. At the market, no one noticed his products at all. Market visitors paid no attention. But on the day when all the merchants came together, the unfortunate merchant said that someday he would become great - that one day he would be [[BIG SHOT]]. Desperate, he began to look for any ways to get his goods noticed, until one day a visitor approached him, who led the merchant to the long-awaited success. Other merchants began to notice that he began to leave much earlier than before. Since then, his products have been noticed more every day. He even engraved another inscription on the handle of the katana. Many traders became jealous of his popularity. Even the Empress herself provided him with a separate room in the palace. Suddenly, the one who helped him in promotion suddenly disappeared and the success began to collapse. His sales began to decline with him. Once again a failure, the merchant was evicted from the palace. When one of his acquaintances checked his room, he found only a note written in a completely incomprehensible language. Abandoned by everyone, he was forced under a bridge next to the empress's palace. After overhearing the conversation of one of the empress's servants, the merchant learned about the existence of the Great Armor in the palace and began to make plans on how to steal them in order to fulfill his dream. Rethought Spamton's lore a little, there may be errors in the text. Thanks to this version of Big Shot, I changed and came up with this story. Thanks to the author of this video !
My suggestion would be to have it so then he carved the feedom kanji into the hilt of his sword after he got evicted, since he got addicted to freedom after being kicked from the mansion in Deltarune. Other than that, this comment is absolutely fantastic!

*Funny enough* When the Merchant class of Japan during the time of prolonged peace were getting absolutely stacked, so when limited-salary Samurai (who were a whole class committed to the art of war) saw this, they started resigning from being a Samurai and started becoming low-class merchants. I dunno why I thought of this but Spamton could just be a use to be Samurai
I have died twice on Spamton NEO on Snowgrave route. First is because I didn't watch over my health and second because I haven't replaced my healing items with good ones in storage.
Legend tells of an ancient youkai who gains power with the more Yen given to it. Is it a Shrine god? Is it a Manekineko-type Youkai? Who knows! However, when Enough Yen is collected, it gains a new form! What is it called? Let’s call it “Neo” for now. I have no idea where I’m going with this honestly.
There was a businessman who lived in a providence with very little Youkai, who managed to gain enough of this "Neo" to overthrow his former employer, who resides as the current Empress.
The music feels... perfect in every way, it matches everything I could have expected going into this and more. And was the background art made by you? HOLY CRAP, dude, that's amazing. Even listening to Deal Gone Wrong remixed at the start filled me with anticipation.
Spamton could make for a fantastic Yokai- He's the one that leaves money in your pocket when you go to wash your jeans, or takes that one penny out of your bag when you need exact change- And I agree with everyone saying that Spamton NEO would be a Tengu-
i like the idea of the taking a single penny out to keep you from having exact change, it could be that he sends the tiny spamton that heals you to do it XD
The Tengu stood, hunched in his large basket of waste. He slowly rose, with a sickly grin on his face. You drew your katana, expecting a fight but instead he offered you his wares. It was a garbled form of the tongue you are familiar though. You turned each of them down, unable to pay with the foreign currency you asks for. Realising your stubbornness, he accepted your offer of battle. His song garbage noise filled the hut, only to have a tune of a familiar jester to ring your ears.
The idea I have is Spamton perhaps would've been an immensely rich lord of some kind, showcased by his purple robes and the sword he has, but becomes lost when secret messages being left by his advisor suddenly stop appearing, without said guidance he enters a state of despair, draining his sorrow and wealth in extravagant displays and expensive sake. This leads to his lands and status being stripped from him as his despair and mental state further fall apart. We then meet him with the only few things to his name, his family sword, his now dirty and tattered purple robes, a pipe filled with cheap smoking leaves and his customary glasses. Now making his living as a merchant who wanders the aftermath of battlefields and areas where refuse gathers, looting and stealing what he can to sell at outrageous and sometimes nonsensical prices which he appears to change at a whim and easily located by the stench of cheap sake and smoke leaves. When encountered he'll start rambling to you about his wares, his incredible past of when we was a [[BIG SHOT]], his speech slurred and demented, his form warped and somewhat inhuman. Otherwise you can more actively help in his scheme to become [[BIG]] again, at least, that's what he calls it. Saying how he knows the way he'll rise to the top again by become something even greater than what he ever was before. In reality all this is, is Spamton fully abandoning his human nature and becoming some kind of demon/spirit, fuelled by a desire for wealth and status.

He started getting letters from an unknown person.
