  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2013 Lexus ES 350 and the new BMW 335i have one very important thing in common...they are the most popular cars that Lexus and BMW builds and sells. For over 15 years the Lexus ES has out sold every other Lexus model in the Luxury Toyota line-up. The BMW 3 series is ( and has been) by far the best-selling BMW that the Bavarian car manufacturer builds. In another fun and informative TFLcar Mashup 0-60 MPH Drive Review we not only see test to see which car is better but we also compare both cars to determine which one of these two iconic vehicles is the best buy for the money. So is the 2013 Lexus ES 350 or the 2013 BMW 335i the better entry level sport and luxury ride? You'll have to watch this video to find out.

This lexus is based on camry. This design is known for smooth, cushy, buick like drive. The 3 series is sport orientated RWD sedan. A fair comparison would be a is350 vs this bmw 335i.
Lexus es350 is by far the most boring of the bunch; nonetheless, still is a luxury car. What you do get from es350 is the unbeatable reputation, reliability, resale value and a piece of mind.

If you are spending your own hard earned money, and has got a brain, you'll buy a Lexus. If you are a teenager who love cars but can't afford any, you'll take the BMW because it has soul, passion, handling blabla. I know because I was there before.
And oh, the Lexus 3.5v6 is one of the best engines you can get. You'll think so anyway once you realise the BMW has chocked itself to carbon death due to direct injection.

First of all most BMW is well-engineered and solidly built, but it won’t be as reliable as Japanese brands. BMW prices are to high for the qualities. I suggest if you want a car just to drive to work buy ES 350, sport RC, GS 350, IS 350, even better LS 460 or Lexus RC. Lexus are the most reliable cars in the world. For all of you BMW lover will spend lot of money for maintenance just make sure you have warranty on it and not extended either.

What I want to see sometime soon from you guys is some mashups where you do the usual high altitude 0-60 times, then drive down to sea level and show the difference. And use a mix of turbo and naturally aspirated engines like this duo. Or if you could get something like a pair of new Fusions, one with turbo and one without. Might as well throw in the hybrid too while we're at it.

Well, I do agree when you say those vehicles have very high reliability. But, You also have to factor in the owner of the vehicle and the maintenance done to the car. I had a E36 M3 and i clocked it at 300,000 miles and all i did was water pump, radiator, tune up and oil changes. My cousin's Honda Accord 2002 was in the shop every other month while others rarely see a shop. People stay away from BMW because they can not afford to maintain it. Hence some break down due to owners negligence.

    i have a '11 335i and just 2 days ago bought a '14 is250
I like both cars. opted for the 250 vs 350 since the 335 gives me every bit of performace I need, when I need it. I think the 250 is a great looking car, performs well and is far superior in comfort. 250 is my new daily, and the 335 got a delegated to weekend duties.
So I guess I'm the exception to the rule.

Some of the options that they compared on the lexus to bmw actually are options on the bmw too. Just not equipped. The rear door window shades and the motorized rear window shade are available on 3 series bmws and have been for a few generations.. Either way the greater point I guess is that the lexus cost 10K less and had these features.
I have an e92 328i and its bill with options was in the mid 60k range. I still don't have the motorized shade.

I have a bmw and my friend has a Lexus, you get them for two completely different reason. Both have two completely different feels. You have to know what the bmw has to offer and how to use it before you get one as for Lexus it’s more luxurious and dependable. By no means is bmw a bad car but if you own a Lexus then typically Lexus drivers don’t look for what a bmw has to offer. Two different uses!

The sad part about in line sixes is they're disappearing - Lexus, Mercedes, Toyota and Jeep all used to have them - gone for packaging reasons - when BMW has no problem fitting them in tiny coupes and sedans with awd. They're is a unique feel to them and imo they just feel more expensive than a vee.

I was at an Auto Show recently, and I was disappointed with the ES's interior. There was a generous use of cheap, hard plastic along the center console and around the lower doors.

I kind of like the ES 350's exhaust note over the BMW's, but I hate the ES all the way around. Currently have a GS 350 used to have an ES and in my opinion, the ES is more of a "soccer mom" car or a family car, and yes I know that's what it's really meant to be. Used to have a BMW 750 Li and the reliability is crap, but in terms of engines, BMW has better power than Lexus in the majority of their cars.

He is absolutely right about that terrible new steering feel. If you are going to buy a 335i...get the one without electric steering. I have a 2009 and it feels solid and super accurate, firm. I am driving an F30 335i as a loaner car and it has electric steering...absolutely feel like driving blind. Thank god I got the 2009.

Now in 2022 the 335 is being bought by us "Hoonigans" and after putting in a few bolt ons we are cranking them to the moon. LOL. Actually it's more the 2007 to 2010's with the N54 that are being cranked up big. But these N55's are being tuned big time too! Before you do it though do all of the maintenance the previous owner didn't do. They are getting cheap but catching up on the maintenance after purchase can kill! LOL.

What kind of test is this.. These cars are hardly ever cross shopped.. One is for a 50 year old buyer and the other is for a 20 something year old with money to lease. No one has ever though the word Sport and has a Lexus ES come to mind. This should've been a test with the IS350 if anything..

  • @ruzzelladrian907

It's unfair to compare a Lexus ES to a BMW 3 Series. The ES is based on a front-wheel drive transverse engine platform shared from the Camry. The 3 Series is a true sports sedan with its rear-wheel drive layout and inline 6 cylinder longitudinal mounted.
