Man, the part about lighting the whole experience, not just the stage, really hit home. I'm playing keyboards in a small local band, but using FL STudio Midi to drive QLC+ and run our DMX lights - 12 LED PAR lights for now - and we got more response by lighting the dance area or crowd with 3-4 of them, than just lighting the band. The dance floor has always been full when we're syncing lights to the music - we get more credit for that than the actual performance. thanks for your killer videos

In my gigging area, there are almost no clubs or dance halls any more. They used to be everywhere. I define them both as establishments where people go to dance, hear live music, drink, dine, and enjoy friendship. They typically feature an adequate stage, large dance floor, and plenty of electrical outlets wired to 2 to 4 separate breaker circuits. And they typically allow plenty of load in and setup time before the doors open to the public. Today, almost all gigging opportunities in our area come from brewpubs whose proprietors like to advertise live music to attract customers, but have no knowledge of the infrastructure a band needs to put on a proper show. If there is a stage, it is tiny. Often, there is none and tables must be moved to squeeze a band in. Load in and setup times are minimal with no room to unpack gear. The audience is almost in your lap while performing and while setting up. There are seldom multiple outlets on separate circuits. Often, just one outlet. And sometimes, the outlets are on circuits with other appliances. After almost two years of adapting, I've trimmed down our sound system and setup to a very compact, yet capable and quick to set up package. And I've had to leave backlighting, gobos, and dmx control at home and develop a new lighting approach to do the most with what I can use under such limitations. Now, I carry 2 RGBA LED lighting fixtures and stands and I control them randomly with IR remote and IR footswitch while performing. I place the stands on either side of the stage and as far forward and inward as possible. I point the 2 inward lights from each fixture at the performers. The 2 outermost lights I use to wash the wall behind the band as best as possible. This approach works quite well as long as I use specific programs and functions, and avoid others. I hope to find more traditional venues soon as we expand our gigging area so we can better utilize our sound system and whole light show.
Hi David how are you doing? I am loving your videos. Any chance you can give me tips for my project. I have a small room (the space is 6mtsx6mts) and I am trying to find the best configuration. I am planning on doing a total of eight BTF-LIGHTING addressable led strips (60 leds/m) (5mt each 12v) + Muzata diffusers. What would be the best way to power them? Maybe 2 60 Amp Power Supply (running 4 and 4, or running one at the beginning and one at the end)? How many Injections would you recommend? Would I get away with one ESP32 board or should I get more? Or is there any board you would recommend for longer projects? I've seen ENTECCs Octo as an option but would love to get your advice on it. Greetings in advance, love your content

Smart rgb floods are great as you use an app to control colour etc, they have sound to light and dimmer.

Will using Diffusion filters on LED Pars help? Such as the ADJ 12P Hex
Typically not, as the diffusion is too close to the lens and doesn't do much.
Should I use more par in front and movers on the back?
It really depends on your needs. Most often, yes. But if you can't have any haze or atmosphere, then you may want more in the front...
