    The tow truck driver should have dash cams front and back so that he will have a silent and unbiased witness to any altercation that may arise.

    I like the "pop smoke and escape" idea! I remember Massad Ayoob saying that one has to win the race to 911. The first caller is the victim, and the second (or the guy who didn't call) is the perpetrator in the eyes of the cops (who also don't know what happened). So even if you deter someone and go on about your business, you MUST call 911 the moment it's safe to do so and make a report. In this sense, your phone is a weapon (for keeping you safe).

    • @Treblaine
      @Treblaine 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How dialing 911 is supposed to work: police will respond almost immediately to criminal threats, saving your life.
      How dialing 911 actually works: police will turn up to court in a fancy dress uniform to say you're the victim if you called them first

    • @TheObeyMayhem
      @TheObeyMayhem 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Treblaine No, the first one is not even how it's supposed to work and it never will work that way. The second isn't even true either, they pick the easiest person to charge and they charge them. It's based on whichever charge will generate the most amount of money for the state and disarm honest people.

    • @Treblaine
      @Treblaine 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheObeyMayhem Pretty sure that dialing 911 is presented by authority figures as an adequate solution to criminal threats.
      It may not happen all the time, but there is definitely a bias for police to believe the first story they hear, which is not to say that no other bias exists that might overwhelm that bias. Police will accept the first story they hear just on someone's uncorroborated sayso, but any later story they hear needs overwhelming proof and corroboration to even result in them simply doubting the first story. Often to just hold both stories as "well I don't know who to believe, guess it's a mystery and we'll never know what happened".

    Keep in mind, at night, in MANY areas, Police DON'T respond at all.
    Public Defenders don't investigate the circumstances of the other side, ie: were they drunk? Armed with Crowbars? Etc. Unfortunately, THIS advice doesn't help much... If it were me, I'd get in the truck and leave them there, dragging their car if I had to. Obviously, we don't know if we are dealing with gang members, illegals, or who... No one can make up a plan for every circumstance, calling the Police doesn't always help you, and the fact that this has gone this far, means, in Michigan, he's ALREADY lost his carry permit and possibly his job.

Had never heard of it before .... and at one point in life, I let go of my public defender and scraped together $2,000 to get an attorney that is more directed at one field. The best choice for the tow truck driver is what the lawyer said. I'm going to call my boss to see I we can do anything about the price. Then pull up the windows, lock the door(s) and call 911. I'm surprised this tow truck driver, especially if he's been doing this job for a long time, didn't use this tactic before this incident. As well, I would not have pulled out the gun. If you don't want to go to jail, while being a licensed, trained, and responsible, gun owner gun owner, you MUIST have a ROCK-SOLID reason for pulling out your gun, especially if you need to use it. If not, you are doomed. That's just the way things are today.

    A prosecutor really believes that a tow-truck operator would threaten people with a gun for no reason? No way. Everyone knows that people get angry and inclined to violence when their truck gets repossessed for non-payment, this prosecutor clearly thinks the law only exists to protect pacifists and anyone who won't just lay down and let themselves be brutalized they have the attitude "well what do you need the law for? The law isn't to help you, it's to punish you".

More facts…what was going on….how close were they… what were they doing, physically, that caused you to feel threatened….what were they saying….did you have any other options, etc…. Frankly, I think this is a pretty bad set of circumstances for USCCA to present in a video to discuss what should have been done….my personal opinion… And by the way, I am staunchly Pro 2A and Pro the right to defend yourself….
