It's no exaggeration to say that this track changed my life. When this came out in 1988, I was listening to Whitesnake (although to be fair, I'd been listening them since 1981 when I was 9/10), Bon Jovi, and whichever hard rock and hair metal bands were getting into the UK charts at the time. I'd only heard my friend play some of Crystal Ball from this album and I didn't pay much attention to it. But on Christmas Day 1988, my brother and I both got stereo systems. I can't remember what I was doing, but he tested his by playing this track, and after hearing ten seconds of it, it felt like I'd been punched in the back of the head. I couldn't believe what I was hearing... it was exactly what I'd wanted to hear all my life. Yngwie instantly became my favourite musician (and remained so until I discovered Lovebites in 2020!), but hearing him sent me down a path where I started listening to more instrumental music, and also more complex stuff like Savatage and Dream Theater. He'll always be awesome to me, and it started here.
