    FYI the correct way to use the NOCO Genius 10 and it’s repair feature is:
    1. First charge the battery full normally until you see it flashing green (maintenance mode once it’s full)
    2. Then you can use repair mode which does its stuff to clear up the sulphated/Stratified cells
    If you hook it into repair mode and it’s not fully charged your battery will just enter charge and maintenance mode instead and not do a proper repair mode.
    You probably works have gotten better results if done properly.
    It’s an excellent piece of kit though, I have and used the Genius 10 (and GB40 jump starter) many times (currently using it on a 7 year old AGM 80AH Mercedes battery)

      Usmaan Ayub, Thanks for the comment, I forgot to mention that when I pulled out this battery on my Civic that I've just charged it with the Genius 10,
      So before I used the repair mode it's already been charged (sorry for the confusion).

      @@edcardiy It’s an excellent piece of kit 😎 very useful for anyone with a car - especially in colder climates. Always use this and continuing to drive if it’s ok before going straight to mechanic who will straight away say replace

      my understanding is that the repair mode will charge it first before beginning repair mode. this understanding comes from a comment from NOCO support in an amazon q&a ...
      "The Repair Mode last approximately 4 hours then it should go to Standby Mode. If the battery is not completely charged prior to Repair Mode beginning then the charger will enter a Normal charge. During this time the charger will display the flashing Repair Mode LED but the charge percentage LEDs will begin pulsing. When the charger shows a solid green 100% LED and the flashing Repair Mode LED the repair and charge are complete."

      @@danielbothman3511 yes that’s correct, it’ll charge it to full then start doing the repair process with high volt pulses to try de sulphate/de Calsify etc

    Great video and demo on a Noco Genius 10 repair mode. My electronics teacher in high school always stated to use baking soda and water to clean the battery terminals and corrosion. I would have also checked the battery electrolyte level since you have removable covers. I use a Pulsetech PowerPulse passive battery desulfator that you leave connected to the battery all the time on my BMW battery for the past three years and have had no problems with it starting my car even though I drive less then 25 miles a week and states that it's patented frequency can increase your battery life span up to three times and is used by the U.S military. I would like to see you demo it and test if it works after several weeks of use on a sulfated battery.

      Well he forgot to mention, in order for repair mode to work properly you first charge to 100%. That's when the flgreen lights starts glowing. Then go into repair mode. Manual clearly states how it works

    its a good idea to wash the entire battery. sometimes they leak power thur corrosives on the outside that are linked to the posts

    There are more points to consider:
    1. Untangle all wires that are under load
    2. If electrolyte level of the battery wasn't good, nothing can repair it
    3. Manual says make full charge before using repair mode
    4. Clean battery outside. Dirt can be conductive

    Thanks for this video. So during repair mode I think the red light will just keep flashing, right? Also, if the battery is >5 years old (still working), it's probably a good idea to use "repair" battery from time to time, right? Thanks!

      Yes but before you do repair you should charge it full otherwise if you hit repair and it’s not full it’ll flash and just enter charge mode instead.

    I have seen people put the battery through several repair mode cycles and get a better result after each cycle.

    One question - does the battery HAVE to be taken out the car when using the repair mode on NOCO chargers?

      33 G, Thanks for the comment, No you don't need to take the battery out of the car to do repair mode, But you have to disconnect the positive and the negative cable from the car. The NOCO charger must be the only thing connected to the battery while doing repair mode.

      Since the repair mode works with 16.5 volts, does it damage the vehicle's brain, that is, the electronics? plus minus i don't want to remove the cables because the tape may lose the password

      I read that you should disconnect the positive as well, as the higher voltage used during repair could damage something within the car.

    Comparing two screenshots battery parameters did improve between repair cycles:
    Healthy 3% -> 37%, Charge 2% -> 98% ... Internal Resistance dropped to 8.83.
    So if you do this again, it will probably work ok

    Some battery's need few cycles to recover long as you see improvement with each cycle keep trying . I'm in process recovering a optima blue top 11 years old. I started it had 9 CCA 200 MILLIOHMS . CURRENTLY IT HAS 15 milliohms 350 CCA IT keeps showing signs of improvement , keep trying see how much I can get it to recover , I did put a headline to do a discharge to recharge it , lite draws 3.2 amps I left it on for 5 hours till drew voltage down to 12 volts . So it's showing promising results

    For some reason NO one mentions the importance of measured "internal resistance" provided by the tester. If you rewatch this video and pay particular attention to the measured internal resistance before and after the "repair", you'll notice internal resistance goes from 27+ milli-ohms to 8.8 milli-ohms. For a 12volt battery to function adequately its internal resistance MUST remain between 3 and 5 milli-olms. Another "repair" charge or two may bring this battery within the REQUIRED 3 to 5 milli-olm range to enable the battery to function normally. Try adding distilled water to the low fluid cells, if any, charge normally, THEN try another repair cycle or two, TAKING SPECIAL NOTE OF THE "MEASURED" INTERNAL RESISTANCE. If the measured internal resistance continues to decrease with each repair cycle then continue repair cycles until the battery's internal resistance falls within the 3 to 5 milli-olm range. If you can't get there you'll know the battery is truly DONE.

      Jon DV, Yes, I did charged the battery while it's in the car, before I pulled it out of the car and do repair mode.

    The battery probably has a short between the cells. Sometimes they won't short till the amps increase so the battery tester won't pick that up. Sulfite crystals form causing the cells to expand or flex creating a short. So that's too much to expect the Norco to repair and unfair to say it failed!! Take it to a recycle centre and move on!

    Does the NOCO GENIUS 10 needs to be plugged in to a power source to charge or repair a dead battery ? Can it ever be used as a jump starter?

      Jacob L, This is a sealed battery, there is no way to check the water level. I remember in the old days, they use to have caps on each cell to check the water level per cell.

      Those two rectangular blocky things on the top of the battery are the caps for the cells. Each cap plugs three cells. You can see the corrossion / acid has leaked out from under those caps. Most likely the tops of the lead plates were exposed and you could have added distilled water to the battery. Then charge fully, then use repair mode.

    The manual calls for a normal 12v charge to full before using repair mode. You didnt even take the zip ties off your cables lol

      This battery was charged full while in the car, I just removed from the car to do the repair mode.

    I've been able to re-vive some but not all. Batteries are like people. There's no fixing some of them 😂

    Never give that better charger a chance. Why are you doing the whole documentary? The battery charge was falling right in front of you. 13.6 means that it had each one of the cells had or 2 battery needs to be washed out. The lead in the bottom of it was making the connection. The light from better charger needs to be a solid green for it to be done.
