My 8th grade teacher showed this to me years ago. Today, I'm using it to teach my own 8th grade civics class. Mr. German, if somehow you're reading this, you're the man!
I showed this today at the end of my 8th grade history lesson on the Declaration of Independence. The kids loved it, and so did I. And, I have been singing the hook in my head all day. I am 48 years old, so I absolutely remember the original song being on the radio too.
I am well past the age of high school and cool videos in history. Sooo i clicked because i was intrigued by the costumes and stayed for the history and music.
Every history class I was in from 4th to 8th grade, we would listen to this at some point in the class as I was passing around my mom's copies of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill or Rights. Those were some of my favorite times in those classes.
My middle school-aged daughter heard the pop version of this song by a different artist on a playlist today and told me to search up the Declaration version. She said she’s listened to it for like 3-4 years now in History. It is goooood to have the kiddos 1) enjoy learning and 2) remember they were shown a video. She said the first time was like “whoa…” when they rocked out. 😊
I shared this with my granddaughter 14 years ago. Don't remember how I came across it. But of all our wonderful music celebrating our Independence, -- America the Beautiful, Stars' Spangled Banner, Lee Greenwood's Glad to be an American, and so many more -- this piece registers as a high water mark for its relevance to today's political struggle, a parallel to 1776. Who knew 100 years ago that termites were beginning to eat away at the very foundations of our Republic? I never tire of listening to this: It's too late to apologize.

I first saw this video when I was in 5th grade, 11 years ago. This song will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget it. I'm honestly going to show my kids this when they get into history classes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this beautiful masterpiece ❤️❤️
Founding Fathers: Let's make a Declaration of Independence so we can be a new country! Thomas Jefferson: Nah, I'll just play some sad piano then jump onto the conference table and play some hardcore violin and then gather the rest of the group and travel through time into the modern age and then create a rock band to play some more hardcore music, and THEN we'll see. Founding Fathers: Umm... Alrighty then, heh.

This costs a like im guessing
Actually the first lyric isn’t “half way cross the globe standing on new ground” they say the ground. It’s meant so when they say new ground and the end of the song it’s shows America as a new country other than that good job dude/dudet
Also I think it is payed your foolish taxes
So funny
Thanks
I first saw this video when I was in 5th grade, 11 years ago. This song will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget it. I'm honestly going to show my kids this when they get into history classes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this beautiful masterpiece ❤️❤️
I've made it a tradition to watch this every year on the 4th, and I don't regret it!
I also listen to this banger religiously on the 4th of July. Best part it's 5 days from now lmao so I'll be blasting this on my speaker soon.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
I was taught that our great founding fathers formed a band called 1776 and sent their song “a declaration” to the king of England via email.
-2009
What did the British think of it?
They dont think, they're too busy making sure they prosecute people for walking around with a suspicious fish.
Never thought I'd see one of my founding fathers shred on the violin.
It's too late to apologize will always be in my head, and heart ❤
Founding Fathers: Let's make a Declaration of Independence so we can be a new country!
Thomas Jefferson: Nah, I'll just play some sad piano then jump onto the conference table and play some hardcore violin and then gather the rest of the group and travel through time into the modern age and then create a rock band to play some more hardcore music, and THEN we'll see.
Founding Fathers: Umm... Alrighty then, heh.
Jimin Cheon I don’t think he was playing the violin lol, his finger weren’t moving, or in the right spots 😂
@@shhhh603 ur right... or was he???
@@jimincheon lol idk his fingers were on the g string but he needs to be on the e string and he literally did not move his fingers. Me ranting about violin 😂
@@shhhh603 lol

Wow, why didn't my history teacher tell me Jefferson was so musically talented.
Thomas Jefferson did actually play the violin.
LOL
He was a hypocrite though

Lyrics:
Halfway across the globe,
And we’re standing on new ground
Screaming ‘cross the waves
You can’t hear a sound (ay,ay,ay)
There’s no fair trials, no trade, no liberties
No tea!
We’ve colonized America; we won’t stand for tyranny!
O’ king:
And it’s too late to apologize
It’s too late (ay,ay,ay)
I said it’s too late to apologize
It’s too late (ay,ay,ay)
We’ve paid your foolish tax, read the acts
And they just won’t do
We want to make it clear, we believe this much is true:
All men were created with certain
Unalienable rights!
Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit
Of happiness!
It’s too late to apologize!
It’s too late! (ay,ay,ay)
I said it’s too late to apologize!
It’s too late! (ay,ay,ay)
(Violin Solo)
(Rock Band Change)
It’s too late to apologize!
It’s too late! (ay,ay,ay)
I said it’s too late to apologize!
It’s too late! (ay,ay,ay)
I said it’s too late to apologize! (yeah)
It’s too late! (ay,ay,ay)
I said it’s too late to apologize! (yeah)
Halfway across the globe
And we’re standing on new ground......
