  • Salina Turda is an underground amusement park located in Transylvania just outside the city of Cluj-Napoca. This is an abandoned Salt Mine that has been turned into an amusement park for everyone to enjoy and is definitely one of the most popular tourist attractions in Romania. The Salina Turda Salt mine came about as early as 1075 and was then operational till 1932. We took a day trip from leaving Cluj-Napoca by bus and arriving in the town of Turda. It was a bit of a journey to get there but what an amazing site deep underground. After the long journey there and back did we find public transportation to the mines worth our time? Is the Salina Turda Salt Mine worth the cost? Join us as we take you on our journey to explore Turda Salina.

Visiting Salina-Turda Salt Mines is one of the most popular day trips out of Cluj-Napoca. But getting there without a rental car came with a few challenges. After arriving we could see why this was one of the most suggested places we should visit. Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out our other Romania videos here: th-cam.com/video/S0JVb4_pMaI/w-d-xo.html

I am so sorry you had troubles with the transportation. And the bus station was just around the corner from the statue in front of the cinema. Of course, that bus would have still live you in the city center of Turda, but there are city buses an taxis to the salt mine. There is a tourist information center in the main square of Cluj, just by the bell monument in case you need further help.

I used to drive there weekly and I was surprised that it took you guys 4 HOURS altogether!!!!!!!! It is sooo sad that the system is still poorly managed and the info doesn't reach the tourists! I can just imagine how many people couldn't make it to the SALINA just because of the lack of information!!! However, KUDOS to you both for not giving up so easily!! Love your videos! KEEP IT UP!!! I don’t know why, but I somehow feel some part of guilt about the whole trouble you had to go through to visit the Turda salt mine. There was a consolation though, to see that it was a best part to all this … and that was the beer at the end. I am curious to know if Brian felt something good happening about the asthma related problem while you were down there in the mine. It is said that this is the best treatment for asthma problems and many types of allergies, also some heart affections and blood pressure.
I won’t ask what your favorite place was during your visit in Romania, because I have the feeling I somehow know already … and it makes me proud. That was a great video, just as all your videos are - thank you very much. I am also glad that if it will ever be the case, you can testify yourselves that you indeed forgot where you put the masks while you were on Romanian territory - I am sure you remember that was among the first things I told (wrote) you when you were on your way to Brasov. Explain that to people when you get back to the U.S. - it is a strong point to make. I’ll watch your video from Cluj now … I saw you already had it posted. Thanks again.
    Cheers …

    Thanks.

    • @BrianandCarrie

We really didn't consider getting a residency visa. We are wanting to see as many places as we can on a budget. We will when we want to take a little break for more than 3 months, then at that time will go through the process. Your budget is going to be just perfect for what you want to do! so what happened was you took a different bus, from a different location. The Fany bus is indeed 7 lei(at least it was last time i checked), and actually you were close to its station in the video but missed it. Also the salt mine has two entrances, if you take the first entrance it's just 700 meters walk from bus station in Turda. Sorry you had to go through such hustle, but sometimes information makes the whole difference.

Great question. We have found people are much more friendly than their politics. Here in the Balkans, it is really a mixed bag on who supports the West, Nato, the war, and so on.
