Am I the only one that’s surprised it took this long for somebody to make a Dbz game in this style? An open world rpg dbz game feels like something that should have been made years ago.
this would of been even better if it started from Dragonball instead of Z, Kid Goku, Training with Roshi, Fighitng in the Tournament, Beating Piccolo, Destroying the Red Ribbon Army, Clinbing Korin Tower, Training in the Kami Lookout, etc
@@fizz6700 That's not true whatsoever. Z is much longer than the original series, Dragon Ball has 16 volumes while Z has 26. Dragon Ball would've been much shorter than Z. Most fans would've been thrilled, we've never seen the original Dragon Ball in a 3D game before, it would've been a better option than Z to start off the game series.
@@MarrTheMilkman Yea, it would be an open world version of Dragon Ball Origins game for the ds. Plus it makes more sense for an open world DB game rather than open world DBZ game because allowing players to fly so fast in DBZ kakorat takes out the significance of it being open world.
Why don’t they make a DBZ game that starts off with Goku as a kid and goes all the way until the end of Super(NOT AS DLC). That would probably take forever to make but it’s better than releasing the exact same game every year.
Andrew Garfield actually they haven’t release the same saiyan through buu saga game for the last past couple of years and this is no doubt the best experience of that
I like his Fighterz line more: *When Android 21 escapes* Piccolo: _OhnoyouDON'T!!!_ *holds his hand in air doing absolutely nothing* or his 180° spins instead of actually turning around to look at the camera, in Ultimate Tenkaichi. Then he would smile in a creepy way at you, lol.
I love this game. Its a basic, end of the work day, turn off your brain and play. The game has beautiful visuals and ive never felt more like a dbz character in their world.
I haven’t had this much fun in a DBZ game in a long time. I’m definitely that little kid again re-experiencing my favorite anime. Props to the developers they hit the nostalgia level over 9000.
What I love is that you can tell there was serious passion put into this game. From the voice actors and cast to the people behind the scenes to the ost. There was love and care put into this game and I’m addicted to it. If you’re a DBZ fan or Dragon Ball fan in general then this is a must-buy in my opinion. Definitely a very fun journey!

I’d love to see a game that takes you from the beginning of Dragon ball to the end of Super, with a local multiplayer that has a MASSIVE roster. We almost had that with Tenkaichi 3, but it’s really dated now...
Coming from the guys that did Asura's Wrath, I would've liked them to push the envelope just a bit more with those boss fights. They played on the safe side here.
@@Montrell1225 for me it's a strong 9.Open world is lively,there are Og charatchers,noone was forgot from DB and DBZ saga.I went on to do a story mission but I've spent an hour actually going there cuz there is so much and it's so nice.If you are a fan I would definetly reccomend to buy it
@@Montrell1225 I've just finished the frieza saga and for a dbz game it's the most immersive yet, theres a proper sense of improving your abilities and stats to be a better fighter. Combat is satisfying. And the levels are surprisingly large at times
If you are a hardcore dragon ball fan you don't give 9/10, this game is unnecessary stretched out and boring in many situations, hardcore fans should give it a 7 much just because it's the whole anime in one game

Y’know, I actually have to say that there were at least 30 side quests that dove more into the lore of Dragon Ball Z. Not to mention the inclusion of characters from other games. I feel like you didn’t dive into too many side quests if you thought they were tedious. Just a thought. This was a love letter to the series and it was beautiful for me, but to each their own

The thing I liked the most in the game is you actually the character is getting stronger. Because you actually spend time to get specific character to level up and learning skills.
You cannot trash art bro. This game is a 9 period. No such thing as a perfect Gáme. But I’ve played every dragon ball game since Super Nintendo Dragon Ball Z. EVERY GAME. This by far has filled my eye and I love how my kid sits right next to me and waits for me to get home and play together so WE can continue the story. To me that’s priceless. Deserves a 9.
As a dbz fan, this game is a 9 for sure but to a more mainstream gaming audience, this game is competing with the lkes of FF7R and Persona 5... No way in hell DBZK deserves a 9 in that scenario.
I appreciate the fact that they made Goku revert to his base form when gathering the Spirit Bomb. Beam clashes are fun as hell too! I freaking love this game!!
I’ve spent significant hours playing Kakarot as well. Overall , I think it is a great game that does complete justice to the DBZ anime show. Going thru the story line and all the arcs of DBZ brings back nostalgia from our childhood and seeing each and every character from the series really brings back memories. Although the game is decent it does have opportunities in o be even better and after playing it I do have some serious recommendations on improvements Flying Mechanics: Realistic Flying with Boost Speeds: Multiple boost speeds ranging from casual (for exploration) to super-fast (faster than supersonic). This would let players feel the power and flexibility of characters like Goku while making flying more interactive and less monotonous. Tricks and Air Maneuvers: Adding aerial tricks like barrel rolls would make flying more engaging and fun, adding depth to the mechanics beyond just traveling from point A to B. Nimbus Upgrade: Applying the same improvements (boost speeds, tricks) to the Flying Nimbus makes it feel less like a static ride and more like an immersive experience. Aesthetics and Customization: Fixing Transformation Auras: Improved animation for transformations and Ki charging would elevate the visual spectacle, making transformations look more powerful and true to the anime. Free Roam Transformations: Letting players transform during free roam adds a sense of freedom and authenticity, making it feel more like living as these characters. Costume Change Flexibility: Allowing players to switch costumes at any time offers a sense of customization, something many players enjoy. Pat Ftw Would love if they could adapt what came before DBZ into a game like this. As a fan of the manga as a kid I loved reading every single book all the way through, not just starting at the DBZ part. We need a game exactly like this with kid Goku meeting Bulma for the first time and going on adventures all the way to demon king Picollo and everything. I can dream I guess....

No this game is in my opinion the most faithful to the series because of all the minor fights you can play like Vegeta vs Cui, Dodoria and Zarbon, Gohan vs Goten, Gotenks vs Buu and many more! Edit: how can I forget the Goku and Piccolo driving mini game?
this is one of them games i wasn’t expecting much from because it’s really new for dbz to come at you like this. i’m having fun with the game but you just know the 2nd one and the DLC/ Game updates are gonna be amazing

@Just Another Guy A game can have great graphics, great moment to moment gameplay, great music and etc. And can score a perfect 10, but if you dont enjoy the game like for instance let's say.... I might get hate for this, but gow I found that to be fun but not insanely fun. I played it one time and couldn't touch it again bc the second time it was boring for me at least. Now something like witcher 3 of course that absolutely deserves all the credit it gets I absolutely love that game while others may find it dull again personal preference. Now when we get to kakarot. Yea ok sure it may not have the best missions or music or even gameplay, but I find it extremely enjoyable more so than xenoverse 1 and 2 I have both btw and fighterz i also have that. And I adore this game to death. I have been hype for this game ever since I saw it. It completely delivers for me in every way. Maybe not for you or anyone else who disagrees with me, but i enjoy it a whole lot. Despite its issues bc its issues do not matter to me. Sure it may not deserve a 10/10, but in my mind it does.
Anyone else find the SINGLE VOICE LINE that will play for flying, firing ki blasts, jumping, encountering enemies incredibly annoying. Every time you perform one of these actions the EXACT same voice line or grunt will play for that specific action.
it hasn't bothered me up until the point where i was trying to get a new ability for vegeta by fighting vegeta, raditz, and nappa. nappa kept using the same two moves and all i heard the entire fight was this dense cabbage of a saiyan saying the same two phrases for 3min
This game deserves at least an 8. One of the best DBZ games you can play on major consoles. This game, Legacy Of Goku 2, and Buu’s Fury are my top 3 picks.

The game’s not perfect by any means but man I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve played of it so far. This is the type of DBZ game I’ve been waiting for, and I’m hoping that this game works as a foundation for a bigger, better more intricate sequel with more varied and fleshed out side quests that changes up the main story so we’re not just getting the same thing we got here. Maybe thinking too far ahead as the game has only just come out but Kakarot has been that much fun so far for me I can’t help but see it as the game that new titles in the future should be looking to build and improve upon. Also, what this review said about cooking, it’s worth it, stat boosts from are permanent and they stack, so it has a massive benefit should you choose to focus on it.
Just listening to the background music from this review took me back into my days from the school when I used to wait for the next episode of the dragonball z eagerly. It reminds me my teenage and so many great memories. I’m sold 😁

Man, I'd love to see Hunter x Hunter receive this kind of treatment. It's absolutely my favorite manga/anime (the 2011 version; love the original though) :(
Right up until 3:10, I was thinking, "if they took all the hours of screaming out of the anime when making this game, then that means the story would be about 45 minutes long."
It finally has the series bgm!!! A little softer tuned, but still, it Finally makes a cameo and truly gives it the Z sound and feel.. (no I haven't played it yet)
I think one of the things that the majority of people miss (I know I did) was a side mission after the fight with Kid Buu. (Spoilers? Idk) The start of the game shows you Goku sitting next to Grandpa Gohan’s house saying “Piccolo, you came” followed by the two powering up. At the end of the game there’s a side mission you can activate as Piccolo at Kami’s Lookout by talking to Dende. The mission has you as Piccolo do something Piccolo has “never had the time for.” You go to Goku who is sitting next to Gohan’s house and it plays out exactly as the intro; full-circle and I completely missed it the first time through.
Probably could of got a 9 or 10 if they actually took more time with this game. Dbz games are notorious for rushing out a game. Just take a little bit more time, and get things as close to perfect as possible. But at this point it's just a cash grab and it's obvious. Dbz fans will continue to buy whatever these companies sell.
Auriel Ayala fighterz has a shitty story mode and it gets boring fast just like every other fighting game. Some people just want to beat a game and then move on
@@rkoowned3606 fighterz is at least trying to be original with it's story. And it's fighting mechanics are not for casual gamers as it is a fighter as you can see from the name. I give props to it and xenoverse for introducing new stories because I have been playing the same Dragonball storyline since 2002. I believe the future of dbz games needs to stick with expanding the z universe instead of the original story.
Imagine if Naruto was made like this! There would be so many side quest and so many characters to develop and I feel like the environment would play a big part with the fight scenes
Food and meals are actually effective in the game. In this video, Gohan's level was 51 while facing Cell. In my play through, Gohan was level 58 while Cell was 52.

A remake can be done 10 yrs later but at the end of a day it is still the same material And if a movie gets rebooted within 10 years or a game gets remade within 10 years people say its too soon so 7 is nothing by comparison. They were on the right track trying to mix it up for the past few years and maybe they could have tried a bit longer or made their open world game about an original story (maybe something more movie focused linking the original 13 movies together). Something we havent had in a long time is a dragonball game which is quite frankly a crime in itself.

Yes they’ve missed some points like it’s over 9000 but on the whole I love how they have covered even some of the smallest details in this game that a hardcore fan would appreciate. I think that’s why I love this game so much as you don’t just jump from major fight to major fight as in the majority of the other games. Really reminds me of the legacy of Goku series on the GBA. Mitchell Saltzman fair enough! It wasn’t a criticism. I just mean I think it’s impressive how they have covered a lot of the original 291 episodes in this game! Fair review. I think as a hardcore fan it makes it slightly better for me but if I was a casual fan then 7 is about right 👍🏻
My favorite part about this game is either when your opponent's animation cancels out your special move completely or when they have "super armor" rendering any attempt at a combo 100% pointless so you punch a few time, drop back, and wait for an opportunity to use a ki based attack. 10/10.
This is easily one of the best games of 2020. Amazing graphics, free world control and epic fight scenes that make you feel as if you are in the world of DBZ. What a game to start of the year and one that I definitely love playing. Big up any one who plays this 🔥 game #kakarot

I really love this game, obsessed with the thought of the game including the Dragon Ball arc, then Dragon Ball Z, followed by GT and/or Dragon Ball Super. I AM EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THIS GAME.
This is my favorite Dragon Ball game and it really gives the feeling of being in the dbz world, great graphics. The gameplay is less complex than xenoverse 2 but it looks stunning and a lot fun.
I'm a huge fan of DBZ but this game gave me so much nostalgia playing it and I have so much fun with the side quest and the repetition I'm fine with it it's so much fun
Dbz budokai 1 was in my opinion one of the best retelling of the dragon ball storyline it had solid animation for its time , solid fighting, a great soundtrack to go with the fight you were in, and it also had the blood and gore fans love so much I miss that in dragon ball games these days
The instant kamehameha scene was the last time we seen crazed looking Goku in the canon. How could they not include THAT tho? They don’t include the Final Flash either? Those are why cutscenes are really made. Beautiful epic moments

Y’know, I actually have to say that there were at least 30 side quests that dove more into the lore of Dragon Ball Z. Not to mention the inclusion of characters from other games. I feel like you didn’t dive into too many side quests if you thought they were tedious. Just a thought. This was a love letter to the series and it was beautiful for me, but to each their own

The thing I liked the most in the game is you actually the character is getting stronger. Because you actually spend time to get specific character to level up and learning skills.
You cannot trash art bro. This game is a 9 period. No such thing as a perfect Gáme. But I’ve played every dragon ball game since Super Nintendo Dragon Ball Z. EVERY GAME. This by far has filled my eye and I love how my kid sits right next to me and waits for me to get home and play together so WE can continue the story. To me that’s priceless. Deserves a 9.

I’ve spent significant hours playing Kakarot as well. Overall , I think it is a great game that does complete justice to the DBZ anime show. Going thru the story line and all the arcs of DBZ brings back nostalgia from our childhood and seeing each and every character from the series really brings back memories.
Although the game is decent it does have opportunities in o be even better and after playing it I do have some serious recommendations on improvements
Flying Mechanics:
Realistic Flying with Boost Speeds:
Multiple boost speeds ranging from casual (for exploration) to super-fast (faster than supersonic). This would let players feel the power and flexibility of characters like Goku while making flying more interactive and less monotonous.
Tricks and Air Maneuvers:
Adding aerial tricks like barrel rolls would make flying more engaging and fun, adding depth to the mechanics beyond just traveling from point A to B.
Nimbus Upgrade:
Applying the same improvements (boost speeds, tricks) to the Flying Nimbus makes it feel less like a static ride and more like an immersive experience. Aesthetics and Customization:

Improved animation for transformations and Ki charging would elevate the visual spectacle, making transformations look more powerful and true to the anime.

As a fan of the manga as a kid I loved reading every single book all the way through, not just starting at the DBZ part. We need a game exactly like this with kid Goku meeting Bulma for the first time and going on adventures all the way to demon king Picollo and everything. I can dream I guess....

I am so happy this game isn’t “play the main fight of a saga”. No this game is in my opinion the most faithful to the series because of all the minor fights you can play like Vegeta vs Cui, Dodoria and Zarbon, Gohan vs Goten, Gotenks vs Buu and many more!

Now something like witcher 3 of course that absolutely deserves all the credit it gets I absolutely love that game while others may find it dull again personal preference. Now when we get to kakarot. Yea ok sure it may not have the best missions or music or even gameplay, but I find it extremely enjoyable more so than xenoverse 1 and 2 I have both btw and fighterz i also have that. And I adore this game to death. I have been hype for this game ever since I saw it. It completely delivers for me in every way. Maybe not for you or anyone else who disagrees with me, but i enjoy it a whole lot. Despite its issues bc its issues do not matter to me. Sure it may not deserve a 10/10, but in my mind it does.

Anyone else find the SINGLE VOICE LINE that will play for flying, firing ki blasts, jumping, encountering enemies incredibly annoying.
Every time you perform one of these actions the EXACT same voice line or grunt will play for that specific action.

it hasn't bothered me up until the point where i was trying to get a new ability for vegeta by fighting vegeta, raditz, and nappa. nappa kept using the same two moves and all i heard the entire fight was this dense cabbage of a saiyan saying the same two phrases for 3min

The game’s not perfect by any means but man I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve played of it so far. This is the type of DBZ game I’ve been waiting for, and I’m hoping that this game works as a foundation for a bigger, better more intricate sequel with more varied and fleshed out side quests that changes up the main story so we’re not just getting the same thing we got here. Maybe thinking too far ahead as the game has only just come out but Kakarot has been that much fun so far for me I can’t help but see it as the game that new titles in the future should be looking to build and improve upon.
Also, what this review said about cooking, it’s worth it, stat boosts from are permanent and they stack, so it has a massive benefit should you choose to focus on it.
Just listening to the background music from this review took me back into my days from the school when I used to wait for the next episode of the dragonball z eagerly.
It reminds me my teenage and so many great memories. I’m sold 😁

I think one of the things that the majority of people miss (I know I did) was a side mission after the fight with Kid Buu. (Spoilers? Idk) The start of the game shows you Goku sitting next to Grandpa Gohan’s house saying “Piccolo, you came” followed by the two powering up. At the end of the game there’s a side mission you can activate as Piccolo at Kami’s Lookout by talking to Dende. The mission has you as Piccolo do something Piccolo has “never had the time for.” You go to Goku who is sitting next to Gohan’s house and it plays out exactly as the intro; full-circle and I completely missed it the first time through.
it might be a 7 star game overall but a 10 on 10 game for all hardcore DBZ fans

Probably could of got a 9 or 10 if they actually took more time with this game. Dbz games are notorious for rushing out a game. Just take a little bit more time, and get things as close to perfect as possible. But at this point it's just a cash grab and it's obvious. I give props to it and xenoverse for introducing new stories because I have been playing the same Dragonball storyline since 2002. I believe the future of dbz games needs to stick with expanding the z universe instead of the original story.

And if a movie gets rebooted within 10 years or a game gets remade within 10 years people say its too soon so 7 is nothing by comparison. They were on the right track trying to mix it up for the past few years and maybe they could have tried a bit longer or made their open world game about an original story (maybe something more movie focused linking the original 13 movies together). Something we havent had in a long time is a dragonball game which is quite frankly a crime in itself.

Yes it’s not the complete game and I sort of understand your rating. But as a hardcore DBZ fan this game is amazing. Yes they’ve missed some points like it’s over 9000 but on the whole I love how they have covered even some of the smallest details in this game that a hardcore fan would appreciate. I think that’s why I love this game so much as you don’t just jump from major fight to major fight as in the majority of the other games.
Really reminds me of the legacy of Goku series on the GBA.

I was referring to Kai's episode count, which is 167 episodes and cuts out a lot of the filler and fluff in the original's 291 episodes.
Mitchell Saltzman fair enough! It wasn’t a criticism. I just mean I think it’s impressive how they have covered a lot of the original 291 episodes in this game! Fair review. I think as a hardcore fan it makes it slightly better for me but if I was a casual fan then 7 is about right 👍🏻

My favorite part about this game is either when your opponent's animation cancels out your special move completely or when they have "super armor" rendering any attempt at a combo 100% pointless so you punch a few time, drop back, and wait for an opportunity to use a ki based attack. 10/10.

This is easily one of the best games of 2020. Amazing graphics, free world control and epic fight scenes that make you feel as if you are in the world of DBZ. What a game to start of the year and one that I definitely love playing. Big up any one who plays this 🔥 game #kakarot

We can all agree this is a long-awaited step in the right direction,but i didn’t expect the developers to hit a homerun with all aspects of the game. As someone whos a fan ,this game will fill a void that xenoverse couldnt, id definitely say this is a Light 7.5 overall game.

It will take time to grow on you. SuperSaiyan Transformations are lit af. As like we have feeling those transitions..wow Dragonball is back.
I really love this game, obsessed with the thought of the game including the Dragon Ball arc, then Dragon Ball Z, followed by GT and/or Dragon Ball Super. I AM EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THIS GAME.

This is my favorite Dragon Ball game and it really gives the feeling of being in the dbz world, great graphics. The gameplay is less complex than xenoverse 2 but it looks stunning and a lot fun.
Got the deluxe on sale for £30, pog. Enjoying the game so far, graphics are clean and story is fun!
I really miss Tenkaichi 3. Partly Raging Blast 2. That was alright.
I'm a huge fan of DBZ but this game gave me so much nostalgia playing it and I have so much fun with the side quest and the repetition I'm fine with it it's so much fun
I agree with this score. I think it can even go up to 8 if/when they start adding more content and maybe patch some stuff
Dbz budokai 1 was in my opinion one of the best retelling of the dragon ball storyline it had solid animation for its time , solid fighting, a great soundtrack to go with the fight you were in, and it also had the blood and gore fans love so much I miss that in dragon ball games these days
The instant kamehameha scene was the last time we seen crazed looking Goku in the canon. How could they not include THAT tho? They don’t include the Final Flash either? Those are why cutscenes are really made. Beautiful epic moments
