Congrats to Stray Kids for becoming Billboard Legendary Icons for having their 7th consecutive album debut hit #1 on Billboard 200. December 28th was a historical day for them making Billboard history as the only artists to accomplish this since Billboard started recording the Bestselling Album Chart in 1956.
As it's a 3RACHA song, I don't think you remerber that all the lyrics are written by 3Racha. We have to assume that Han and Changbin's raps are what them want to say because they write it. Also, I don't think they care to pander to english audiences. They do what they want to and until now, it fairLy worked. Btw, they don't have to do serious talk and rap all the time. They maybe want to have fun and want to say aquaman x) Ps : Excuse my bad english, it's not my first language. I edit when I see some mistakes.
“Say hello to Nemo cause I can’t see” was a good bar a lot of people missed . He can’t say hello himself because SKZ sinking is not in their vocabulary 😭 They’re always on top
Honestly that harry potter line is probably just cuz Han is actually obsessed with harry potter lmao, that's also why he has a British accent when he speaks sometimes, and aquaman is probably cuz all 8 of them are huge marvel fans, so I get what you mean by they could've wrote better bars or wtv but I like the lyrics like that cuz it has sprinkles of their personalities in it, and anyway they don't have to always spit facts or write bars ab their haters cuz that shit just gets tiring after a while. Skz just likes having fun and if writing ab harry potter and aquaman is fun then that's what they're gonna do 😂
With 2 of the members being native English speakers (BangChan and Felix), and several of them being fairly fluent in English, I wouldn’t say it’s strictly to pander to the English market, but helps the members that are native English speakers keep speaking their native tongue, and helps the others to keep speaking English so they don’t lose the language. They’re also international performers, and sell better outside of Korea than they do in Korea (that includes the US and Australia, along with Europe and other countries). They also do really well in Japan, sing/rap in Japanese, have Japanese albums, Japanese songs, have an entire Japanese TH-cam channel, Japanese TikTok, and even Instagram. The fact that there isn’t a specific English speaking channel for any of those things definitely shows me they aren’t pandering here so much.
Agree about the kids not really trying to catter english audience. But have to agree to him too about the verse is not beautiful enough from rap POV. Even tho i don't know shoot about rap, but binnie and hannie's part is really kinda awkward to the ears. That's why Anthony think our kids is trying too much to catter english market with all those character mentioned and the obviously not easy to listen english part. But honestly this happens a lot in skz songs. Can't remember which part in what songs, but it's really obvious in a eng ver of certain song, or japanese ver of certain song. But i understand tho. Cause it's not easy to choose which words to use to match song's part.
@@puspitaDHan wrote both verses (all of 3racha wrote the song, but these verses were Han specifically), and he himself is a huge Harry Potter fan as well as being a mega fan of super heroes (both Marvel and DC), so it actually makes a lot of sense that he would mention them without pandering to anyone. He often mentions characters he loves in a lot of songs, it’s a very Han thing, and it’s really just him sharing his passion for his favorite things.
@courtneyclayton1586 understood it very well. But not other people. Like Anthony for example. Hence they misunderstood those verse as "trying to cater the western/english audience".
@ honestly same. It depends on my mood too but it’s the first time a version has even came close to it’s original for me. I love the prechorus in the hip ver
The lyrics in Little Track are always something, although I prefer the way they play with words in Korean rather than English. I love the sound and dancing in Walkin On Water. Please react to Bounce Back, I love Han's rap on that song. I've seen Korean reviewers say that the subtitles didn't do justice to those very good lyrics.
I keep seeing people mention the English rap parts as being not so good, but honestly this song kind of has a ‘90s rap vibe reminiscent of Run DMC and Beastie Boys (to name a few). If you go back and look at their lyrics, they often had kind of silly and simple rhymes…they weren’t all complex and/or boastful. That’s just how I take the Changbin and Han parts, so they kind of fit the theme of the song.
I get that you prefer the b-sides and thats fine because we all have different preferences when it comes to music. Whether it's the main track or b-side it's still their music so I see no problem with that ✊🏼
Stray kids is my number 1 and have been for years. I like the song, but I agree that Lyrically it’s not their best. But that’s okay, cause they have such a large discography that has amazing lyrics.
Aside from the Harry Potter and aqua man line I don’t see how the lyrics isn’t good, it alligns perfectly with the theme of the song. I think a lot of people missed some of the bars in there because they got fixated by the references
I mean, I understand the criticism on the bars and all, and how u dont want to see "basic bars" but u see the most famous rappers out there literally doing the same. Eminem is an example, sometimes he makes "basic bars" and they're funny doesn't need to make sense all the time, but also he makes "hardcore bars/rimes" not every bar needs to be "omg what a God like rapper writing guy! Omg new eminem just dropped" Rap is supposed to be funny, serious anything u want the rap to be, dont put rapping in a box that all rappers should fit in. Also abt the "The english bars are only to reach other publics" youve been reacting to kpop for a while, u should know that they mix the languages, even before kpop was widely known they mixed them, so idk abt your confusion on that, not that hard to understand cuz english speaking rappers mix languages all the time as well
I agree with you 100% and understand what you mean. My favorite song to date is still Taste by Danceracha, followed immediately by 3Racha and Gone Away. Walking on Water is good, but they have much better songs.
Do their solos! The music variety is insane, I saw that u did Changbin's, the other 7 tracks are waiting for you 😳 also, strategy by twice is fire I think u would love it
eh not every song needs to be bar after bar. sometimes songs just need to breathe and they obviously wanted to have fun with this one...this was technically a "special album" anyways not a full comeback.
Learn how to take valid criticism pls, just as you say not every song needs this or that people are still allowed to have their opinion about it. Skz is my fav boy bands but I agree with him that aqua man and Harry Potter felt very out of place, and i know it’s because Han is a huge HP fan but that doesn’t change how it sounds to my ears. Still a great song tho, like you said they probably just wanted to have fun with it, because I’m sure they knew it was risky and contemplated it for a while before making that decision
The Harry Potter line it's because Han especially loves Harry Potter a lot but I don't get why Changbin is rapping that part and you're right, I wish Changbin would rap rap like you said, he presented himself as a dark rapper and I don't see anything dark lately, the 3RACHA old songs and old perfomances were just amazing and the 3 of them were showing off their crazy talent but now I don't know it feels like they go too light with these raps. Maybe they would do something more crazy but the agency doesn't allow them, I still hope for something crazy or another song like Muddy Water, I miss 3RACHA btw, too much. I prefer b-sides too and I don't get why in K-pop they stick so much with the title track while they have such good b-sides, Bounce Back deserves a perfomance and a MV, if the agency is intelligent enough they would make them do that, they can't create such cool b-sides and live them behind, this is something that I don't get at all in K-pop.
Han actually wrote Chanbin’s entire verse, which isn’t uncommon. Oftentimes Han will write an entire song, or some will collaborate on lyrics for a song, but in this case Han wrote the part that Changbin rapped.
That's just because most of skz besides are title tracks..... Ate intro they talk about how I LIKE IT, and JJAM, and MOUNTAINS were all considered for the title but CHK CHK BOOM was just better ... Most of their songs are title tracks..... Lol their just that good. Bounce back waited years to see the light of day and had to be toned down for all age audience.... No Pandering to western audience....No 2 Aussie boys, 1 British taught, and 2 who spent time in America as kids IN lives with Bangchan and is picking up English quickly, from living with Chan and Felix for years ... If they were trying to pander to the western fans then they would put out a whole English album.... They don't try they just write what they feel .... Changbin has always said that he only wants skz to put out music with lyrics that they write because then it's true to themselves.
Had to laugh.. if you know anything about SKZ esp. 3Racha, you know that Div. 1 is not going to MAKE them do Anything.. ahh.. you know that they would listen respectfully.. and then DO what they want. They will tell Stay why they chose what they did for a title track and why [listen/watch their Intro MV], and Stay will say 'more please'... I like it that they do not think of B-side tracks as lesser or secondary. They treat 'all' tracks as title-worthy. That why their whole albums are so good. The time, effort and care from the beats on upward to lyrics to topline crafted to be as perfect as they want them to be within the song framework. It's okay not to vibe with a certain tune/beat/genre/feel.. we are all different and they certainly cater to that but it is not because of a 'business point of view'.. it because of what they want to put there and if you don't like it, they don't give a wat...🖖🏽😁
