Hyunjin was on hiatus during the recording of the Kingdom, he appeared in the first episode only but due to some bullying issues, they asked him to go on hiatus. It would have been better if he was indeed there! But while on hiatus, he also kept himself busy preparing for their comeback. The bullying issues were cleared and closed.

It's either this one or the full version, which shows the whole stage during the entire performance. Those are actually my personal favorites, as you get to see everything that's happening behind the camera - the running around, the adlibs, the staff moving props and so on. Even shows how they made "the baby disappear" with camera tricks 😊

Hyunjin was only allowed to perform in their opening song for Kingdom. (That song was Miroh.) After that, JYP pulled Hyunjin out and made him go on hiatus because someone suddenly accused Hyunjin of bullying when they were in school around 10 years prior. Hyunjin was not allowed to compete with SKZ for the whole rest of Kingdom, and he had to sit out for a number of months after that while everything was being investigated. He was eventually cleared and allowed to come back.

thankyou so much for reacting to this! and i'm glad to know changbin is your fav korean rapper. i wanna tell u smthng that might make you like the performance more. first off they did this without hyunjin, who was on hiatus due to some stupid shit some crazy person pulled. in the last part, where changbin is rapping, that part is pretty intense, it's a high speed powerful rap of almost 30 sec which was originally done by two people in parts. changbin pulled it off alone. han wasn't rapping bc he was harmonising with I.N in that crazy long and note ,again originally done by 4 people in parts. also changbin is constantly compared with 3rd gen rappers, some of the best ones, bc no one in 4th gen comes even close to him

This performance is like an independent show, without comments. You can find the fail. Hyunjin didn't participate. He was only in the first round, but then he was cut out. At that time, Hyunjin was subjected to a hate, which was not proven.
i agree with you, i'm not fan of the tv-show settings of the video. But there is the "full version" for every performances, with just the performance, without the reactions of other people on the set.
This version was technically for hyunjin thats why they had the little boy statue with the ring around his neck. It was to symbolize that they would do anything to get him back.
tthe thing is they uploaded a full version without reactions as well. so they have a video with reactions and video without reactions. maybe thats what you need to look out for if this is not your thing

The fact that so many people don't know why they scored so low for this performance.. they had to remake another group song. Re-born. Judges felt song was too similar to the original, they didn't change much to make it "their own", hence why they placed 5th in this challenge. Not because of INs voice crack, not because of dark theme.

Im a Stay through and through but I do get why the performance got 5th place. Their vocals were impeccable-Nobody can deny that, however, the story that SKZ was trying to tell and the execution of it was too convoluted. As a performance as a whole, it was not as clean and cohesive as their fellow competitors. Fellow Stay don’t jump me!! I think SKZ needed this jolt because ALL of their other performances were top tier in creativity, execution, performance and uniqueness.
kingdom's criteria are mostly "group performance". it's the same reason they got a lower score for "side effects+god's menu", the judges say there is no unity. they like the actual stage performance more than the theatrics of camera work and stage utilization. Also, yes, the storyboard on this stage is the most complicated. but because the director dramatized and emphasized on I.N's dissatisfaction with his performance, STAYs are more or less defensive about it being 5th place. kingdom criteria is also already whack in the first place, adding emotional tension fuels fan engagement (like fans enraged streamed and voted only for mnet to lose the full performance vids, what the hell was up with that too)
